Chelmsford City Racecard - Tuesday 2nd August

Page 1

Evening Racing Tuesday 2nd August 2022

Official Programme £3.00

Welcome

We are well into our summer calendar of music events but there

are several live music events coming in the next few weeks that should not be missed. This Saturday we have the multi-million album and record selling band, Steps, on stage at 6.00 pm, playing all their greatest hits, including their number ones, ‘Tragedy’ and ‘Stomp’. The following Saturday, 13th August, The Show, a Tribute to Abba, are here to sing those famous songs that we associate with and love from that super group, right from their beginnings at the Eurovision Song Contest through to stardom. Then the following weekend, 20th August, we have The Ministry of Sound Disco, a 15-piece band, playing everything from the hits of Chaka Khan to Michael Jackson and Daft Punk. I hope that you can join us for these events and look forward to seeing you there. Back to this evening, we have a fascinating card for you with, as ever, highly competitive racing, so finding winners will be no easy task; nevertheless, I wish you the best of luck and trust you have some success. Have a great evening.

Neil Graham Racing Director For more information about any of these events please visit www.chelmsfordcityracecourse.com or call the office on 01245 360300.

Timeform Rating

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

You must be 18 or over to place a bet You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet If you cannot produce this your bet will not be accepted

CITY SELECTIONS An improved run seems likely from Timewave, who was a one-paced fourth over 7f at Yarmouth on his debut and has plenty of stamina in his pedigree. He may do better over this trip, but preference is for HURRICANE KIKO. He cruised into the lead at Yarmouth before being readily passed, but might do better if held up a little longer here. Native Melody is worth a market check on her debut.

Second Race

CITY SELECTIONS Grace Angel is the only distance winner in this field after she took her maiden at Wolverhampton last month by over a length and she looks likely to tow them along from the off. SIGNORA CAMACHO was an easy winner at Ayr and although she has a 6lb penalty here, Harry Davies claims 5lb back from the saddle. If she takes to the surface she may follow up, leaving Agostino and Onthebunny to follow them home.

CITY SELECTIONS Kanuhura is the only C&D winner in this and as she races off 2lb lower now, she may run in to a place if she can recapture that form. FIFTY SENT has to be of interest on his handicap debut after a Beverley third over an extended 7f. With the added distance looking likely to bring about plenty of improvement, he might come out on top. Bazalgette is another to consider with George Bass claiming a handy 5lb. FIFTY SENT

FIFTY SENT has the profile of one who could fare better now handicapping over a longer trip so he’s the suggestion. Glen Cove is another who looks to have been brought along with hadicaps in mind so he’s put up as the chief threat ahead of Mick Channon’s Bazalgette, who ran 2 solid races on his return to action last month.

The Sir Mark Prescott-trained Dawahy makes her handicap debut following a string of below-par runs in novice company, while Lord Cherry could get back to the form of his Kempton second now returned to the all-weather.
