CITY SELECTIONS As long as the market vibes aren’t negative, it is hard to look too far beyond Charlie Appleby’s newcomer APPOINTED ONE, who wouldn’t need to be one of the yard’s stronger juveniles to kick off with a win. The Bullion Bomber’s debut effort at Ascot two weeks ago seemed too bad to be true and he may be worth another chance given his $40,000 purchase price, while any market move for Miyagi would be interesting.

Probable S.P’s: 5-2 Signcastle City (IRE), 7-2 Appointed One (GB), 10-1 Miyagi (IRE), Bernadine (IRE), 12-1 Matching Sox (IRE), 20-1 Tranquillity (GB), 25-1 Revolucion (GB), 28-1 Havechatma (GB), 33-1 Coloane (IRE), Royal Lily (GB), Unagi (IRE), 40-1 Eight Mile (IRE), The Bullion Bomber (IRE), 200-1 Queen’s Eyot (GB)
PLAY SMARTER With major doubts over Signcastle City’s participation (declared at Salisbury on Saturday), this looks ripe for a newcomer so APPOINTED ONE gets the tentative nod to strike at the first time of asking for leading trainer Charlie Appleby. Bernadine is worth a second look stepped upped in trip but the main dangers could be Miyagi and Matching Sox, who make plenty of paper appeal and can chase the selection home in that order.
