Afternoon Racing with SIGMA Live Saturday 28th May 2022
Official Programme £3.00
Welcome
We have a sensational evening for you today with 7 races, followed by the electrifying sound of multi-platinum DJ duo, Sigma, who are the first of our summer music concerts. The racing includes two highly competitive races for two year olds and both of these look to be races for the connoisseur, so a paddock inspection beforehand is a must. Then, at 4.10 pm, we have the £50,000 Betsi Handicap over 6 furlongs with 10 runners, in which you are going to need plenty of luck finding a winner, as each and every one looks to have a chance. As soon as the racing is over Sigma will be on stage, playing all their greatest hits from ‘Changing’ to ‘Nobody to Love’ to ‘Higher’ amongst many others but don’t go anywhere once they have finished, as the entertainment continues with a live screening of the UEFA Champions League Final between Liverpool and Real Madrid. Can Liverpool cap their amazing season by winning this match?
I hope you have a lovely evening.
Neil Graham Racing Director For more information about any of these events please visit www.chelmsfordcityracecourse.com or call the office on 01245 360300.

Timeform Rating
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

CITY SELECTIONS CENTRAL CITY was only narrowly denied last time and that followed a victory over 1m4f at Lingfield at the beginning of the month. A reproduction of either of those efforts would give him a big chance today, although the seven-year-old does have to prove that he stays this trip. Reeceltic is a player based on his victory over 2m at Lingfield in March, while Zuckerberg is another to note. CENTRAL CITY

CITY SELECTIONS BEAUTIFUL AISLING was arguably unlucky not to make a winning debut at Sandown recently, when short of room at a crucial time, and the daughter of Havana Gold could be hard to beat today with the benefit of that experience. Romantic Sunlight may also take a step forward, but the main threat may prove to be One More Olly. Richard Hughes’ filly is closely related to plenty of winners and cost 100,000 pounds at a breeze-up sale last month. BEAUTIFUL AISLING

CITY SELECTIONS NATURAL PATH hit the line with plenty of conviction when third at Newmarket last time and the consistent five-year-old may be able to record a sixth career victory. There are plenty of dangers, though, including State Occasion, who displayed plenty of promise at Newmarket on her two latest outings in October. PUERTO DE VEGA has done well on the all-weather since joining this yard, and with his latest effort on the turf easily excused, Stuart Williams’ charge is fancied to regain the winning thread back on a synthetic surface. UBAHHA is a long-standing maiden, but he fared much better than of late when third in a Stratford seller 3 weeks ago and has subsequently joined Mick Appleby, so he might just be the answer back in handicap company.
