The Chelmer Stakes Thursday 28th April 2022
Official Programme £3.00
Welcome We have 7 races for you this evening with the Listed IRE-Incentive, It pays to buy Irish Chelmer Fillies Stakes as our feature race. There is a fantastic £87,500 in prize money on offer for this race alone, which has attracted a highly competitive field of 13 runners. Romantic Time sets the standard after her Group 3 win in the Dick Poole Stakes at Salisbury last year; she has looked as if she did not stay in her subsequent efforts over 7 furlongs and this drop back to 6 furlongs should suit. Ryan Moore takes the ride on Symphony Perfect, who won the Bosra Sham Listed Stakes at Newmarket on her final start last year and looks sure to relish the 6 furlong trip as well. The race has all the ingredients for an exciting contest from these top-class sprinting fillies. Irish Thoroughbred Marketing have kindly sponsored both the feature race and the opener, the Restricted Novice Stakes tonight and we are extremely grateful to them for doing this. Irish Thoroughbred Marketing do a wonderful job promoting the thoroughbred in Ireland, so if you are interested in getting involved in breeding, buying or training a racehorse in Ireland, they are there to help you regarding any aspect of the Irish bloodstock industry. I hope you have a lovely evening and manage to find some winners. Neil Graham Racing Director For more information about any of these events please visit www.chelmsfordcityracecourse.com or call the office on 01245 360300.

Timeform Rating
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

CITY SELECTIONS Sean Woods saddles DAYTONA LADY and the daughter of Bungle Inthejungle looks more than capable of striking on her racecourse debut. She has plenty of speed in her pedigree and she is related to winners on the all-weather, so the surface should hold no fears. CITY SELECTIONS ESTRELA STAR returned from a break when filling the runner-up spot at Lingfield earlier this month, where he bumped into an unexposed type. He comes here with an unchanged mark and if Ali Stronge’s charge can replicate that then he could take all the beating. Yorktown has been consistent over the winter and should go well once more, while Brute Force makes some appeal on his reappearance.

CITY SELECTIONS Soyounique recorded a comfortable success at Wolverhampton last Saturday but he will need a strong pace to aim at on this drop in trip, so a chance is taken with CAPLA SPIRIT.
