Good Friday Race Meeting Friday 15th April 2022
Official Programme £3.00
Welcome Welcome to our Good Friday race meeting, which, alongside our 7-race card, is a celebration of the countryside. We have a fantastic card for you this afternoon with competitive racing and many of the top jockeys riding here but, in between the races, there is a host of things to do and look at for all the family.
If you feel like a little retail therapy, head over to the Farmers’ Market and the Craft Fair, there is an Easter Letter Hunt for the younger members, Country Dancing for the more adventurous, a petting zoo as well as the birds of prey, Shetland Pony racing at 1.10 pm on the main track and plenty of other family fun and games.
The weather promises to be kind to us, so I hope you enjoy the afternoon and, if you can find a winner or two, it should be a perfect afternoon.
Have a fun day!
Neil Graham Racing Director For more information about any of these events please visit www.chelmsfordcityracecourse.com or call the office on 01245 360300.

Timeform Rating
OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

CITY SELECTIONS MIZZEN YOU bumped into a couple of promising types over the winter, when third, and then runner-up over the C&D. Rae Guest’s filly sets a decent form standard here and, if making the most of her plum draw, she can shed the maiden tag this afternoon. Mountbatten was another debutant winner for the Archie Watson team when making all at this venue in January, but was later disqualified. It was a polished performance, however, and must be feared back here, while Flag High should be much more streetwise out of the stalls and could play a leading role on his second career start. CITY SELECTIONS There is likely to be a strong pace on here, with the likes of Hieronymus, Revolutionise, Ostilio and Hello Zabeel who can go forward, so it looks worth siding with ARAMIS GREY. She flew home on the back of a fierce gallop at Wolverhampton on her latest outing, but that victory was a little more comfortable than the winning margin of a head suggests and a 2lb rise in the weights could prove to be lenient. Red Mirage won his first three starts for Mark Johnston, but then flattered to deceive on his subsequent outings. However, the son of Showcasing has been gelded and now resides at Andrew Balding’s Kingsclere stable, so if those two factors can perk him up, he’ll be a danger to all. Red Mirage

CITY SELECTIONS NO SUCH LUCK lived up to his name at Lingfield last month, where he endured a luckless trip. Roger Ingram’s charge fly leapt out of the stalls and was then denied a clear run at a crucial stage, before charging home when the gaps appeared. The gelding seemingly finished full of running and, with just two attempts at this distance, he remains completely unexposed. Boasty trounced his field when winning here two weeks ago, and was raised 8lb for that success. Stall 12 is most concerning, though, and he may not be able to dominate in the same manner this afternoon. Pips Tune has been in blistering form of late, with figures of 1121 in his last four starts, and is another to consider. Pips Tune

CITY SELECTIONS TRAWLERMAN readily accounted for a useful rival in a maiden at Pontefract last April and his most recent outing came in a top-class renewal of the Classic Trial at Sandown later that month. A mark of 93 should be workable for this son of Golden Horn and he cannot be discounted. Inigo Jones showed promise on multiple occasions last year and it would be no surprise to see him take a step forward this year. Others to note are U S S Michigan and Forest Falcon. TRAWLERMAN
