Evening Racing THURSDAY 28th OCTOBER 2021

Official Programme £3.00

Welcome THURSDAY NIGHT RACING AT CCR! Welcome to Chelmsford City Racecourse (CCR) for one of our signature Thursday nights under our famous floodlights. It has undoubtedly been a difficult time for all of us up and down the country, so it has been fantastic to see people really enjoying themselves back at CCR in recent months. Whilst we’re lucky to have lots of outdoor space here, we can all still play our part during to the ongoing covid situation. As such, we encourage you to continue with some good practices that can benefit you and your fellow racegoers. Please wear a face mask at your discretion indoors in busier areas and continue to use the hand sanitisers available. The guidance around “hands, face, fresh air” remains important for us all. Thank you. The seven races this evening have attracted 62 runners, and they’ll all be looking to win a share of the £50,000 prize money pot that’s on offer. The feature event on our card tonight is race five at 7.30pm - the £9,250 “tote.co.uk Free Streaming Stakes” over seven furlongs. Eight talented runners are in the line-up for this quality handicap and it should be a cracking race! Three of the field have won here before and that is often a very good pointer at CCR. But this time it’s one of the other runners, Sealed Offer, that could have a big chance of landing the spoils. She ran well here last month despite stumbling at the start of the race and the distance probably being a bit too far for her. But before that, she was placed on two successive starts on the Polytrack at Kempton and Lingfield. She wasn’t beaten far in either race and can get her head in front tonight. We hope you have a fantastic time with your friends and family this evening. Our next fixture is Thursday night, 4th November when we’ll hope to see you again for all the colour, fun and excitement of floodlit horseracing at Chelmsford City Racecourse. And remember – Christmas party season is nearly here, so be sure to book a great night out at one of our weekend parties throughout December. Fraser Garrity Racecourse Manager

Timeform Rating

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

CITY SELECTIONS DYNAMIC FORCE was outclassed in a Group 3 at Chantilly last month, when only beating one rival home, but this appears to be an ideal opportunity for the son of Kodiac to bounce back at a much lower level. Brides Bay built on her opening display when a length fourth at Wolverhampton and she is likely to be in the shake-up here, while Justjamie and Anatomic are both respected newcomers.

DYNAMIC FORCE ran to a fairly useful level on his first 2 starts and possibly found Group 3 company a bit too much in France last time. He’s the clear pick on form here even under a penalty. Brides Bay looks next best getting plenty of weight from the selection and may do better still after only 2 runs. War In Heaven and Anificas Beauty can fight out minor honours.

CITY SELECTIONS WIDAAD should find this easier task than her previous assignment after recording a respectable fifth-placed effort in handicap company at Newmarket. The four-year-old filly still remains a maiden on the all-weather but she gets the nod to resume winning ways in this contest. Hayadh is the top rated in this field and he is feared most, while Olivia Mary also makes the shortlist.

PLAY SMARTER

WIDAAD could give it a good go from the front under Oisin Murphy in re-fitted cheekpieces and gets the vote in a tricky claimer. Hayadh sets the standard but has to prove himself effective on the surface, while Delta River needs to find his best form to figure, but that is definitely possible.

CITY SELECTIONS Iconic Queen is an interesting contender and she commands respect returning from a break. However, preference is for HALA JOUD, who seemed to take a step forward when scoring at Wolverhampton last month. That form has subsequently been franked and the daughter of Belardo can defy a 5lb rise here. Full Intention shaped with promise after a break at Kempton and he could be the danger if building on that performance. HALA JOUD
