A number arrive with question marks over them but that can’t be said for recent C&D handicap debut scorer DROP KICK who showed a willing attitude to get the better of a protracted dual with the runner-up on that occasion and there’s surely more to come from Mark Walford’s 4-y-o. Last year’s winner Heritier may benefit from the return to hurdling and he’s feared, as is Grey Skies, who will find this easier than his latest Cheltenham assignment.

Previous race trends (2015-24) can often help provide a short-list of potential winners in the current year’s races. The percentage figure after the race details is the favourite’s ‘strike rate’ in the race Trainers who have won the race before are also highlighted if they had an entry at the final declaration stage. In handicap races, horses that have won before off the same/higher ratings are flagged as ‘well handicapped’.

Still lightly raced as a hurdler, MEDIEVAL GOLD was only narrowly denied in a competitive race for the grade here last time and he’s fancied to make his second start of the season a winning one. Saligo Bay has been a revelation and should run well in his bid for the hat-trick, while Whiskeywealth could be the one for the tricast if bouncing back.

GLORYHIGHTS proved a reliabletype overhurdles (won here) and could beworth siding with to take a big step forward from his recent chasing bow at Newcastle when a late blunder scuppered his chances. Azof des Mottes (second choice) and Torosay fought out a good finish at Ayr last time and look the duo to give Chris Grant’s gelding most to do
