Where Racing’s Greats Take the Stage
SUNDAY 2 NOVEMBER 2025

On behalf of everyone here at Carlisle Racecourse, I’m delighted to welcome you to one of the highlights of our autumn racing calendar – The Colin Parker Raceday. This special meeting celebrates the legacy of one of Cumbrian racing’s great figures, and we’re thrilled to have you join us for an afternoon of exciting Jump Racing action
Before the racing gets underway, the Hound Trail Demonstration will begin on the Hurdle Track at 11.50am, followed shortly after by the Retraining of Racehorses Parade at 11.55am in the Parade Ring featuring local legend and Carlisle Racecourse Equine Ambassador Duke of Navan plus Grade 1 Winning Chaser Kemboy, a wonderful opportunity to see former equine stars enjoying their second careers.
Today’s card promises plenty of quality and competition, with several future stars taking their first steps towards what we hope will be a memorable season Whether you’re here to back a winner, enjoy a day out with friends and family, or simply soak up the atmosphere, we’re confident you’ll have a fantastic time
To make the most of your day:
Plan your races – Study the form, check the runners, and see which horses catch your eye in parade ring.
Visit our food and drink outlets – There’s something for everyone, from hearty local fare to quick race-day treats.
Stay connected – Follow us on social media for race updates and behind-thescenes content.
A huge thank you goes to our sponsors, owners, trainers, jockeys, and racecourse staff who make this fixture possible. Most importantly, thank you to all of our hospitality guests and racegoers for your continued support.

I hope you have a truly enjoyable afternoon and a safe journey home afterwards.
Best Wishes,
Helen Willis

In September 2000, racing lost one ofthe great gentleman ofthe sport when Colin Parker lost his brave battle against cancer.
Janet, Andrew, & David Parker, Family & Friends would like to thank Ray Green for his hospitality today and for sponsoring this race in memory of Colin.
Parker was a stalwart of the Northern jumping scene from his days as a rider through to his death at the age of 55.
Ray achieved his 500th Winner last November, of which Colin trained 121, with Brandy Hambro at Carlisle in March 1987 being the first The highlight was Sparky Gayle winning at Cheltenham Festival in 1997.
As a local Cumbrian, Parker rode 50 winners under rules before joining the Gordon Richards yard as Head Lad.
Parker took out his own license and trained his first winner, Brandy Hambro owned by Ray Green, in 1987 here at Carlisle and a flood of winners followed including the brilliant Novice Chaser Sparky Gayle who was unbeaten in six starts during 1996/97 when partnered with local jockey Brian Storey
Andrew, Colin’s son, took over from his father and trained 58 Winners for Ray - including Merigo who won Scottish National in both 2010 and 2012, and was 2nd in 2011.
The last winner, Trump, was sent out by Parker at Kelso in May 2000.
Colin’s other son David trained 78 Winners for Ray in partnership with Pauline Robson.
This historic race wa first the Colin Parker Memorial in 2006 when Norther net’s Garden was first past the post fo under jockey Tony Dobbin. Contest has gone fr strength over the ye noted as an early des some of the best chaser
