Welcome to Carlisle Racecourse for our Colin Parker Memorial Race day. This is one of our favourite race days of the year. The race is steeped in history and we remember true Northern Legends in Colin Parker and Gordon Richards. It is very ﬁtting that we remember them both on this day as their successes very much went hand in hand. A huge thank you also goes to Ray Green for sponsoring the Colin Parker Race it’s wonderful to see Colin’s family here today to enjoy the spectacle that the race is. The Colin Parker Memorial Chase is a race which has gone from strength to strength over the past 15 years or so and we’re very proud to host a race which has become a recognised platform for chasing stars of the future. Future winners of each of the Grand National (Many Clouds), the Betfair Chase (Lostintranslation), the Ascot Chase (Waiting Patiently) and the Melling Chase (Monet’s Garden) have learned the ropes here in that time to name just a few and we can’t wait to see who will be next! Our last race day on the 21st October raised much needed funds for the Rock Youth Project, which supports children and young people in the area. Based just a stone’s throw from us, the project will be putting all funds raised towards a new pavilion and as usual lots of worthwhile funds were raised for another tremendous charity. If you are new to racing and need a hand understanding how to place a bet then please go down to our very vibrant betting ring, the teams down there will be more than happy to help and explain how it works. The Red Rum Bar is currently still not in use as it has been re-purposed as an overﬂow weighing room, we have however got the marquee on the lawn which has lighting and heating to help as an additional area for you to sit and enjoy your day.
