We are now only a few weeks away from Gentlemen’s Day, which is one of our most highly anticipated racedays, combining a fantastic standard of racing and live music. After racing concludes, we have a phenomenal live performance from Oasish, who will be performing all of the most popular hits including Wonderwall, Champagne Supernova and Don’t Look Back in Anger! We have spaces in both our Paddock Pavilion Restaurant and our Royal Crescent Restaurant for those who would like to make a special occasion on this wonderful day; in addition to space in our Roof Garden for those who would like to enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the track, and an excellent view for the live music afterwards.

We are also approaching The Beckford Stakes, which is one of the biggest racedays in our calendar and is our grand finale for the season. The Beckford Stakes includes our last listed race of the year and features a phenomenal standard of racing. There is a prize pot of £65,000 to be won, so it is set to be a very exciting day.

Outside of racing, we are very excited to be hosting our Fireworks event on Saturday 4th November Our theme for this year is Night of Colours, and is set to be a spectacular event for everyone in the family to enjoy. In addition to our renowned fireworks display, there will also be a fun fair, stilt-walkers, face painters and fire jugglers; and a wide selection of food stands, bars and special concession stands for all to enjoy. Tickets are also now available for this unmissable event, with there being availability in our hospitality suites, Royal Crescent Restaurant and our Roof Garden, in addition to general admission.

ABANDONMENT POLICY

In the event of racing being abandoned, the following rules apply:

• Abandonment before completion of the 1st race – badge valid for the next race meeting or full refund

• Abandonment prior to completion of the 3rd race – 50% refund

• Abandonment thereafter – no refund

No refunds will be made on the day of racing. All refunds should be claimed in writing within 14 days of the abandoned meeting.

ADMISSION BADGES

Racegoers are politely requested to ensure their badges are worn and to be clearly visible at all times. If you have purchased an E-ticket, please ensure you have this with you at all times.

DISABLED USERS

A disabled viewing ramp is available for wheelchair users by the Winning Post. There is disabled access to both restaurants and a variety of disabled toilets across the racecourse.

DOGS

Dogs, with the exception of guide dogs, are not permitted within any of the enclosures.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES FOR YOUR SAFETY

Bath Racecourse puts in place robust safety measures to ensure your safety, comfort and enjoyment. Should an incident occur which is beyond our control, it is important that you are aware of how we intend to look after you. As part of our safety management, we have employed professionally trained and experienced security staff to be located at various points throughout the Racecourse. This information is precautionary and we trust the procedures will not be needed.

Please remember in the event of an emergency, to take your belongings with you and, under the direction of Bath Racecourse representatives, proceed quickly and quietly to the agreed area.

HORSE WELFARE COMES FIRST AT BATH

Bath’s top priority is the safety and welfare of both horse and rider We have a dedicated team of highly qualified vets and doctors following the action at every stage and a top of the range horse ambulance in attendance at each meeting.

It is our policy to erect green screens around the horse requiring veterinary attention, to provide the privacy required at such times. Please do not assume the worse if screens are erected around such a horse. We are committed to minimising risks, dealing quickly and humanely with injuries and maintaining the highest possible quality of life for the animals in our care. Racegoers may take photographs for private use. However, no flash photography is allowed around the Pre-Parade Ring, Parade Ring or Winners Enclosure. Anyone with a professional/ high quality level of equipment needs to be granted permission to take photography on course in order to protect our racecourse image rights.

Please also be aware that racegoers entering Bath Racecourse do so by accepting our terms and conditions of entry, which state that their photograph may be taken and that this may be used in promotional material.

TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS

In order to ease traffic congestion on leaving the course please would all traffic for Bath and the South West exit via the right hand lane, and traffic for Bristol and the North East exit via the left hand lane. It is hoped that these arrangements will provide a smoother exit for all patrons and your co-operation is appreciated.

Star Ratings Explained

Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:

HHHHH Selected to win the race

HHHHI Good chance of being placed.

HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.

HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability

The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

All horses which Start in this race, as defined in the Rules of Racing, will be eligible to enter THE BATH SUMMER STAYERS’ SERIES FINAL to be run over 1m 6f 11y at Bath on 16 September, 2023. In the event of the abandonment of this qualifying race, any horse which has been declared to run in this race , or any horse entered to run in this race if the time of the abandonment was prior to the declaration stage, will be qualified to enter the Final. Any horse which has been eliminated from this qualifying race will also be eligible, subject to the Rules of Racing, to enter the Final. The British Horseracing Authority has modified the Elimination and Balloting Procedures (contained in the Race Administration Code) for the purposes of this race, such that a horse will gain protection from elimination by obtaining points throughout the series. Points will be awarded in each qualifier as follows: Winner-10 points, 2nd-8 points, 3rd-6 points, 4th-4 points, 5th-2 points, 6th-1 point. Points will also be awarded under the Bath Frequent Runner Scheme. Horses that Start in three Qualifiers at Bath during 2022 will be awarded 9 points. These 9 points will be in addition to any points that a horse may gain from the qualifying races. The horse obtaining the highest number of points will be afforded the greatest protection from elimination. In the event of two or more horses being entered for the Final with the same number of points, the horse allotted the lowest weight will be eliminated first. If two or more such horses have the same weight, their position in the elimination sequence will be allocated by random ballot. 13 entries, 1 at £6 and 12 at £31.Closed August 31st, 2023.
