AFTERNOON RACING WED 06 SEP Official Raceday Programme & Form Guide | RRP £3.50
WEDNESDAY 18 OCTOBER COURSE.CO.UK

The team at Bath Racecourse is delighted to welcome you to our Afternoon Racing on what promises to be a fantastic day’s racing.

We are set for a glorious afternoon with 8 exciting races taking place. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome today’s sponsors

Propel Finance, European Breeders Fund and SJB Chef Services Ltd. I would like to thank our sponsors for their generosity, and I wish them all an enjoyable afternoon.

We are now only a few weeks away from Gentlemen’s Day, which is one of our most highly anticipated racedays, combining a fantastic standard of racing and live music. After racing concludes, we have a phenomenal live performance from Oasish, who will be performing all of the most popular hits including Wonderwall, Champagne Supernova and Don’t Look Back in Anger! We have spaces in both our Paddock Pavilion Restaurant and our Royal Crescent Restaurant for those who would like to make a special occasion on this wonderful day; in addition to space in our Roof Garden for those who would like to enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the track, and an excellent view for the live music afterwards.

We are also approaching The Beckford Stakes, which is one of the biggest racedays in our calendar and is our grand finale for the season. The Beckford Stakes includes our last listed race of the year and features a phenomenal standard of racing. There is a prize pot of £65,000 to be won, so it is set to be a very exciting day.

Outside of racing, we are very excited to be hosting our Fireworks event on Saturday 4th November Our theme for this year is Night of Colours, and is set to be a spectacular event for everyone in the family to enjoy. In addition to our renowned fireworks display, there will also be a fun fair, stilt-walkers, face painters and fire jugglers; and a wide selection of food stands, bars and special concession stands for all to enjoy. Tickets are also now available for this unmissable event, with there being availability in our hospitality suites, Royal Crescent Restaurant and our Roof Garden, in addition to general admission.

We wish you a wonderful afternoon today at Bath Racecourse, and hope to welcome you back to another 2023 fixture soon

Star Ratings Explained

Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:

HHHHH Selected to win the race

HHHHI Good chance of being placed.

HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS EXPLAINED

HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.

HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability

The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

You must be 18 or over to place a bet

You may be asked to provide proof of your age when placing a bet

If you cannot produce this your bet will not be accepted

MOULIN BOOJ ran well having 3 runs in the space of a week in August, getting off the mark at Wolverhampton and just running out of steam over 6f when fourth at Thirsk on his latest outing. He is taken to resume winning ways back down in trip, with Confederation feared most having made the frame here on his last 2 starts. Katar completes the shortlist.

RACE SUMMARY

DENIS ANTHONY has remained in form since winning at Ffos Las in June and went down only to a well-ridden rival at Lingfield last time, so appeals as the one to beat. Fellow 3-y-o Dreams Adozen was running well in defeat before completing a simple task at Hamilton, so merits consideration, with My Chiquita likely to benefit for the step up in trip and respected also.

A few in with chances but preference is for DIVINA GRACE, who failed to fire in first-time headgear at Newmarket recently but should be capable of making a splash returned to a more realistic grade. BILLAKI MOU has been running consistently well in defeat during the summer and looks to have found a good opportunity to shed his maiden tag. Miss Sligo is another who has largely held her form well lately and went close here earlier this season, whilst Trussst In Me is a potential improver now stepping into handicaps.
