CHRISTMAS JUMPER DAY
Good Afternoon,
Welcome to Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse for a very special afternoon of racing and music.
We have a fantastic tribute act joining us after racing, Go Span Duran, who will be performing hits from three of the biggest 80’s bands – Go West, Spandau Ballet and Duran Duran. Plus, even more iconic 80s hits! The music will start at approximately 5pm, with the performance lasting 1 hour
We have an exciting card of six races before the entertainment begins, with racing getting underway with The Bangor-on-Dee Maiden Hurdle Race at 1.40pm. Our highest prize pot of the day goes to the winner of The SG Estates Handicap Steeple Chase at 2:50pm, standing at £10,000. Our final race on the card is The Ladies Day on Saturday 21st June Mares’ Handicap Hurdle Race at 4.40pm.
I would like to extend my thanks to today’s sponsors, Castle Mews Windows and SG Estates. Everyone at Bangor-on-Dee appreciates your support.
As you leave the racecourse today there will be a bucket collection for Clwyd Special Riding Centre, a wonderful charity who do fantastic work for the local community I hope you will feel able to support them.
We look forward to welcoming you back racing here on Saturday 21st June for Ladies Day. We hope you’ll join us again then.

STRAIGHT EACH WAY
Win only A bookmaker taking each way bets will display the terms on which he/she accepts such bets on the top of his/her board. This is a bet for your selection to win or be placed.
In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting.
· Fewer than 5 runners – all to win
5-7 runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2
· 8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1-2-3
Handicaps with 12-15 runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3
· Handicaps with 16 or more runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3-4
Many bookmakers will also take bets at the other race meetings today. They offer a comprehensive service, including bets settled TAX FREE at Starting Price (S.P.)
At reduced odds you can back a horse and collect if it wins or runs second to the horse nominated by the bookmaker as favourite.
Shop around for the best odds against your selection. When you have decided on where to place your bet, state the number of your chosen horse and the stake, for example “number 4, £2 win”. Listen to the bookmaker repeat the number of the horse and the stake to his/her clerk and hand your stake to the bookmaker You will then be given an itemised receipt that gives details of the bet and shows potential winnings. You should keep this ticket safe.
If your selection wins (or, in the case of a place bet, is placed), hand the ticket back to the bookmaker for settlement. NEVER destroy your ticket until after the “Weighed In” announcement has been made. There may still be a Stewards’ Enquiry and the first past the post, or placed horses, may be disqualified. On rare occasions even the horse coming fourth has been awarded the race You may bet with confidence with any bookmaker as they have all been approved by the Administration of Gambling on Tracks Ltd, which administers the betting rings at each of Britain’s 60 racecourses. The AGT also offers a full late pay service, in case a bookmaker leaves the course before you have collected your winnings. Late pay claims should be sent to AGT, 3A Kings Hall, Parsons Green, St Ives, Cambridgeshire PE27 4WY.
Tel: 01480 499180
In the unlikely event that no independent bookmaker turns up to service either end of the racecourse (Bangor and Overton car parks), Bangor Sport will be able to service all betting requirements. Bangor Sport will offer to either ‘take the price’ or use the SP as a means of settling any bet. We will endeavour to show all races (including all those from away courses) on screens at either end of the course. If you have any queries, please ask a member of staff for help.

15. A guide to the horse’s recent form and star rating. Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:
HHHHH Selected to win the race.
HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims
HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.
HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
16. Jockey’s Name. If there is a number next to the name, this indicates that the jockey can claim that amount in weight (lbs) off the stated riding weight
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.
A left-handed track of approximately one mile three furlongs in circumference. There are nine relatively easy fences per circuit and a run-in of 325 yards. Three tight turns make the course somewhat sharp in nature.

NOTE:
Runner-up over further the last twice at Sedgefield when showing plenty of pace from the front, SOLENT GATEWAY must hold every chance dropping in distance. He can get off the mark at the sixth time of asking, with Ffos Las second Herja looking best placed to chase him home as Danny Gilligan takes over in the saddle. A relatively promising third on her hurdles bow at Worcester last month, Top Tier Gossip is capable of being in the shake-up as well.
WIN: SOLENT GATEWAY
DANGER: HERJA
3
A highly encouraging second at Worcester on his chase debut last month, FULL MONTY is likely to have plenty more improvement forthcoming and he can go one better. That may be at the main expense of Baskerville, who could not have won any easier on his chasing bow at Stratford, for which he has been raised 8lb. Runner-up on his last two outings over hurdles, Lune De La Mer is another to note on his first go in this sphere.
WIN: FULL MONTY
SIR TIVO may be 11 now, but he looked to be on excellent terms with himself when scoring over this distance at Cartmel last time out. A 2lb rise for that success could prove lenient with the champion jockey on board again, and he is preferred to Finest View, who got off the mark over fences at Huntingdon last month. God’s Own Getaway may be suited by dropping back in trip and could also have a say in proceedings.
WIN: SIR TIVO
DANGER: FINEST VIEW
More positive tactics saw GUILLAUME finishing a close-up second at Kelso 12 days ago and a similar approach may prove fruitful. Donald McCain’s charge makes grand appeal racing off an unchanged mark and may fend off Tropical Talent. The six-year-old is reverting to hurdles off a career-low mark and shouldn’t be underestimated. Hope Hill could also have a say on the back of a 131-day layoff.
Having completed a double with ease at Newton Abbot recently, Al Sayah warrants respect in her hat-trick bid. However, a quick turnaround and 7lb penalty could leave her vulnerable, with a chance taken on seasonal debutant WHIZZ KID. The nine-year-old boasts a good record on his return from a break and he lurks on an attractive mark. The in-form Liverpool Knight can make his presence felt too.
WIN: WHIZZ KID
DANGER: AL SAYAH
Having posted an encouraging second over an inadequate 2m3f on her stable bow at Fontwell last month, NEWMILL GETAWAY makes plenty of appeal now faced with a stiffer test of stamina. Today’s extra half-mile distance looks perfect for the daughter of Getaway and a first victory over hurdles may beckon. The hat-trick seeking Heather Honey is likely to give another bold bid, while Killybegs Jet Lady and Clover Pass add further spice to the mix.
WIN: NEWMILL GETAWAY
DANGER: HEATHER HONEY

NEWMILL GETAWAY wasn’t able to vindicate punters’faith on debut for the Fergal O’Brien yard following a year off last month, but she still performed with credit in finishing second to one who had the benefit of a race run under her belt. Stepping back up in trip looks a good move and she is taken to go one better this time, perhaps at the chief expense of Moonshine Girl. Others with reasonable claims include Killybegs Jet Lady and Ludlow 1-2 Lake’s Aventurine and Clover Pass 1-2-3: 1.NEWMILL GETAWAY (IRE) 2.MOONSHINE GIRL (IRE) 3.KILLYBEGS JET LADY (IRE)

18 Bangor Racecourse has enhanced Safety & Security measures to ensure your safety, comfort and enjoyment of the day. However, an incident may occur which is beyond our control and it is important that you are aware of how we intend to look after you in the event of an emergency.
We employ professionally trained and experienced stewards who are located predominantly around the course and are identifiable by their uniform.
In the event of a situation that requires partial or full evacuation of the stands or racecourse, announcements will be broadcast and stewards will undertake the responsibility of ushering you to a place of safety; it is essential that you follow their instructions. Please take your immediate belongings with you and proceed out of the area quickly and calmly with the guidance of the stewards.
The above is precautionary only and we trust that the procedures will never be required. However, in the event of an emergency, remember:
• Take your belongings with you;
• Under the directions of the stewards, proceed quickly and calmly to the safe area.
