Welcome to Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse for our most stylish and glamourous fixture of the year - Ladies Day in partnership with Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet.

Today is all about getting dressed up and enjoying a great day of racing here at North Wales’ only racecourse.

We have an exciting card of seven races for you to watch this afternoon, starting with the Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet Novices’ Hurdle Race at 1.40pm. Our most valuable race of the day is the Brooke-Rankin Ladies Day Novices’ Handicap Steeple Chase at 3.25pm, while our final race is the Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet Open National Hunt Flat Race at 5.10pm.

There will also be plenty of competition off the track too, as we host our popular Best Dressed competition in partnership with Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet. Make sure you enter in the Paddock Enclosure prior to 2.30pm for the chance to win some fantastic prizes.

HOW TO BET WITH A RACECOURSE BOOKMAKER

WAYS TO BET

STRAIGHT EACH WAY

Win only A bookmaker taking each way bets will display the terms on which he/she accepts such bets on the top of his/her board. This is a bet for your selection to win or be placed.

STANDARD TERMS FOR EACH WAY BETTING

In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting.

· Fewer than 5 runners – all to win

5-7 runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2

· 8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1-2-3

Handicaps with 12-15 runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3

· Handicaps with 16 or more runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3-4

AWAY BETTING

Many bookmakers will also take bets at the other race meetings today. They offer a comprehensive service, including bets settled TAX FREE at Starting Price (S.P.)

BETTING WITHOUT THE FAVOURITE

At reduced odds you can back a horse and collect if it wins or runs second to the horse nominated by the bookmaker as favourite.

PLACING YOUR BET

Shop around for the best odds against your selection. When you have decided on where to place your bet, state the number of your chosen horse and the stake, for example “number 4, £2 win”. Listen to the bookmaker repeat the number of the horse and the stake to his/her clerk and hand your stake to the bookmaker You will then be given an itemised receipt that gives details of the bet and shows potential winnings. You should keep this ticket safe.

COLLECTING YOUR WINNINGS

If your selection wins (or, in the case of a place bet, is placed), hand the ticket back to the bookmaker for settlement. NEVER destroy your ticket until after the “Weighed In” announcement has been made. There may still be a Stewards’ Enquiry and the first past the post, or placed horses, may be disqualified. On rare occasions even the horse coming fourth has been awarded the race You may bet with confidence with any bookmaker as they have all been approved by the Administration of Gambling on Tracks Ltd, which administers the betting rings at each of Britain’s 60 racecourses. The AGT also offers a full late pay service, in case a bookmaker leaves the course before you have collected your winnings. The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability

BEST SELECTIONS ON THE DAY

NOT NOW NATHANIEL showed a decent level of ability in bumpers, and she made no mistake when bolting up on her hurdles bow at Aintree last month. Donald McCain’s filly must shoulder a 7lb penalty, but that might not stop her from following up with improvement forthcoming. Chantico achieved a peak rating of 84 when trained on the Flat and he’s of obvious interest now sent over timber, while Upagainstit is also noted.

WIN: NOT NOW NATHANIEL EACHWAY: CHANTICO

A wide-margin winner at Hereford in October, it was a similar story for CAN’T BEAT HISTORY when he defied a 9lb rise at the same track on his seasonal reappearance last month. Henry Oliver’s gelding has a further 8lb hike to contend with, but the low-mileage chaser could have more in the locker and is preferred to Getaway Glory. Aquila Sky finished a creditable third at Chepstow in April and he could find some improvement for the addition of first-time cheekpieces.

COLLINGHAM was said to have benefitted from a return to quicker conditions when winning at Ludlow last month, so it wasn’t a huge surprise when he was able to follow up over C&D 11 days ago. Given that he was able to score off a mark of 121 in February last year, the six-year-old appears to hold every chance of completing his hat-trick with conditions ideal. Feel The Pinch and Lunar Sovereign are others to consider

After two second-placed finishes, IN THIS WORLD can make it third-time lucky over fences and could very easily kick on throughout the summer months. Grain d’Oudairies is capable in this discipline and warrants serious thought despite letting favourite backers down when he failed to make all over this C&D last time out Assuming he settles better, the Donald McCain-trained gelding can give the selection most to think about, ahead of last-time-out winners Legendary Day and Breizh River

Gentle Connections was last seen finishing last of four in a class 4 event at Warwick, but she returns off a 7lb lower mark and has to be considered for the in-form Dan Skelton yard.

BOLD RECRUIT shaped with bundles of promise when hitting the crossbar on his Rules debut at Southwell last month and he would have learned a great deal from that experience. The five-year-old can find enough improvement to get off the mark, with his main threat possibly being Little Big Kev, who wasn’t disgraced in fourth at Stratford and should give another good account Any market support for Fan Magnet with Brian Hughes booked would be interesting.

Rachel sadly passed away in 2015 after bravely battling cancer, which she did until the very end with dignity.

Rachel left two amazing sons, Matthew and Scott, who she was so proud of.

Rachels journey started in Delph, Lancashire and then she moved to Anglesey where she started working with horses at John Hewitt’s riding stables, progressing to riding and hunting the point to point racehorses, before becoming assistant trainer at Richard Hewitt’s licensed yard.

Her youngest son Scott Hewitt will be presenting the trophy today. Her family, including Mother Margaret, Brother Martin and many friends were so proud of her.

RACECOURSE REGULATIONS

BETTING RING MANAGER

The Betting Ring Managers Inspection Pitch is located in the Tattersalls Enclosure, (please see racecourse map). He will be available in each enclosure to assist in any betting dispute.

GENERAL

All badges, car park labels and hospitality packages are sold subject to these terms and conditions.

FORCE MAJEURE

1 The company shall not be liable to the racegoer for any failure or omission or breach caused by an event or events beyond the control of the company such as but not limited to war, civil disturbance, order of a Government Ministry or department or public authority, fire, flood, natural catastrophe, royal demise, labour dispute, lock-out, withdrawal of labour or breakdown or interruption of services or transport (public or otherwise) or death or illness of a key person.

1.1 Upon the happening of such an event the obligations of the company and any period of time then running shall be suspended for the period of the event plus such time as may be required to resume normality.

1.2 Such an event shall not entitle the racegoer to take any steps against the company for breach or to terminate the agreement or otherwise

PRIOR TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE RACEMEETING

2 Where badges, car park labels or hospitality packages are sold for a specified area of the Racecourse, the Company will use its best endeavours to ensure that the specified area is available for use at the specified time If however the specified area cannot be used, for reasons not within the control of the Company, then the Company shall be entitled to offer a reasonable alternative. If no alternative is offered by the Company the customer will be entitled to a full refund of all monies received from him or her by the Company.

3 Refunds, other than those covered by clause 2 immediately above will not be considered unless badges/labels are returned to the racecourse, not less than 7 days prior to the race meeting and successfully resold. All refunds will be subject to an administration charge of 15% of the total refund.

ONCE THE RACE MEETING HAS COMMENCED

4 The climbing of fences, stands or any other buildings is forbidden.

5 Any person failing to comply with instructions from a steward or police officer may be ejected from the Racecourse.

6 Please observe the designated no drinking areas. Alcoholic beverages must not be carried to or consumed in these areas.

7 Amateur photography is accepted but only without flash equipment.

8 Portable telephones may not be used anywhere on the Racecourse for betting purposes. Flags, banners and other articles and any behaviour such as drunkenness, abusive conduct, singing or shouting which may constitute an annoyance to spectators or distract or frighten the horses are prohibited.

9 Transfers between enclosures may be possible on the day, subject to availability.

10 Parking or setting down on the site is prohibited, other than at the official car parks.

11 Lost or stolen badges will not be replaced.

12 Hospitality badges are sold on the understanding that no money in respect of unused badges will be reimbursed.

13 Subject to the provisions of clause 1 which shall prevail over this clause, in the event of abandonment before racing, or up to the “Weighed-In” of the first race there will be a full refund of badge and car parking costs. In the event of abandonment after the “Weighed-In” of the first race up to the “Weighed-In” of the third race or nominated feature race, whichever is later there will be a 50% refund of badge and car parking costs. In the event of abandonment thereafter there will be no refunds. No cash refunds to be paid on the day. All refunds to be administered after the meeting by post. Where any customer is entitled (pursuant to clause 13) to any refund, in order to qualify for such refund the customer must follow the procedure listed opposite:

13.1 Make a note of the reference numbers of all badges and car park labels (these numbers will be found on the front of each badge or label).

13.2 Send the badges, and/or labels along with a covering letter stating the full name and address of the sender and, if different from that of sender, the full name and address of the purchaser of the badges or labels to: Refund Office, Chester Race Company Limited, The Racecourse, Chester, CH1 2LY. To be valid, requests for refunds must be received in writing within one month of the abandoned raceday. The Company shall have no responsibility or liability of any nature in respect of any refund request received after that time

14 All persons visiting the Racecourse are admitted subject to these Regulations and to the Rules of Racing. The Management reserves the right to refuse admission to/or to remove from the Racecourse, in its absolute discretion and without giving any reasons, any person failing to comply with such Rules and Regulations or whose presence is, in its absolute discretion, a source of danger or annoyance and shall have no obligation to give any reason therefore.

15 The Company shall in no circumstances be liable for any loss, damage, cost or expense or any consequential or indirect loss or damage of any kind.

PRIZE MONEY

16 The Horserace Betting Levy Board prize fund schemes provide for the estimated inclusion of £157,256 in ratecard and incremental prize money at this racecourse from 23rd March to 23rd June 2024.

EVACUATION PROCEDURE

18 Bangor Racecourse has enhanced Safety & Security measures to ensure your safety, comfort and enjoyment of the day. However, an incident may occur which is beyond our control and it is important that you are aware of how we intend to look after you in the event of an emergency.

We employ professionally trained and experienced stewards who are located predominantly around the course and are identifiable by their uniform.

In the event of a situation that requires partial or full evacuation of the stands or racecourse, announcements will be broadcast and stewards will undertake the responsibility of ushering you to a place of safety; it is essential that you follow their instructions. Please take your immediate belongings with you and proceed out of the area quickly and calmly with the guidance of the stewards.

The above is precautionary only and we trust that the procedures will never be required. However, in the event of an emergency, remember:

• Take your belongings with you;

• Under the directions of the stewards, proceed quickly and calmly to the safe area.
