STRAIGHT EACH WAY
Win only A bookmaker taking each way bets will display the terms on which he/she accepts such bets on the top of his/her board. This is a bet for your selection to win or be placed.
In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting.
· Fewer than 5 runners – all to win
5-7 runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2
· 8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1-2-3
Handicaps with 12-15 runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3
· Handicaps with 16 or more runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3-4
Many bookmakers will also take bets at the other race meetings today. They offer a comprehensive service, including bets settled TAX FREE at Starting Price (S.P.)
At reduced odds you can back a horse and collect if it wins or runs second to the horse nominated by the bookmaker as favourite.
Shop around for the best odds against your selection. When you have decided on where to place your bet, state the number of your chosen horse and the stake, for example “number 4, £2 win”. Listen to the bookmaker repeat the number of the horse and the stake to his/her clerk and hand your stake to the bookmaker You will then be given an itemised receipt that gives details of the bet and shows potential winnings. You should keep this ticket safe.
If your selection wins (or, in the case of a place bet, is placed), hand the ticket back to the bookmaker for settlement. NEVER destroy your ticket until after the “Weighed In” announcement has been made. There may still be a Stewards’ Enquiry and the first past the post, or placed horses, may be disqualified. On rare occasions even the horse coming fourth has been awarded the race You may bet with confidence with any bookmaker as they have all been approved by the Administration of Gambling on Tracks Ltd, which administers the betting rings at each of Britain’s 60 racecourses. The AGT also offers a full late pay service, in case a bookmaker leaves the course before you have collected your winnings. Late pay claims should be sent to AGT, 3A Kings Hall, Parsons Green, St Ives, Cambridgeshire PE27 4WY.
Tel: 01480 499180
In the unlikely event that no independent bookmaker turns up to service either end of the racecourse (Bangor and Overton car parks), Bangor Sport will be able to service all betting requirements. Bangor Sport will offer to either ‘take the price’ or use the SP as a means of settling any bet. We will endeavour to show all races (including all those from away courses) on screens at either end of the course. If you have any queries, please ask a member of staff for help.

15. A guide to the horse’s recent form and star rating. Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:
HHHHH Selected to win the race.
HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims
HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.
HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
16. Jockey’s Name. If there is a number next to the name, this indicates that the jockey can claim that amount in weight (lbs) off the stated riding weight
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.
A left-handed track of approximately one mile three furlongs in circumference. There are nine relatively easy fences per circuit and a run-in of 325 yards. Three tight turns make the course somewhat sharp in nature

CRYSTAL GLANCE made a pleasing start when finishing third on her hurdling bow over 2m at Hereford last month and, with that experience under her belt, it would be no surprise if she were able to get off the mark at the second time of asking. 90,000-euro purchase The Flying Poet represents a stable very much on the hot list and he may emerge as the main danger, while Belle In The Park is another to note.
WIN: CRYSTAL GLANCE
EACHWAY: THE FLYING POET
IRON HEART certainly wasn’t stopping when running out a ready winner over an extended 2m4f at Market Rasen earlier this month and, reverting to the larger obstacles stepping up to 3m for the first time, he gets the nod. The relatively unexposed Getaway Glory warrants respect on the back of a game victory over an extended 2m7f at Huntingdon last month. The class-dropping Stony Man completes the shortlist
WIN: IRON HEART
GETAWAY GLORY
Punters will need to be in a forgiving mood to side with BALLYGEARY, but it might pay to do so. Donald McCain’s charge has posted some smart efforts behind useful rivals this year and, providing a recent wind operation can help him bounce back to form, he could be well handicapped and has won here before. Arctic Fox is respected on her handicap debut in this sphere and heads the list of dangers from Commanding View
WIN: BALLYGEARY
EACHWAY: ARCTIC FOX
After bringing up a four-timer off this mark last year, A DIFFERENT KIND rates the one to beat Donald McCain’s charge may have needed his reappearance over 2m4f at Perth last month and must be respected. Kansas City Star is feared most after a commanding success over 2m1f at Plumpton last time, while Sacre Coeur could reverse the Cheltenham form with Somespring Special.
WIN: A DIFFERENT KIND EACHWAY: KANSAS CITY STAR
BOSTON JOE was a very comfortable winner over 2m at Ffos Las earlier this month and a repeat of that effort would make him difficult to beat. Harry Cobden is a positive jockey booking and this 8lb rise might not be enough to anchor him. Fellow last-time-out winner Fanfan Du Seuil is also worthy of consideration after a fine front-running success over 2m at Catterick in December, while Limetree Boy can follow them home.
WIN: BOSTON JOE
EACHWAY: FANFAN DU SEUIL
This looks a good opportunity for CHURCHMAN to shed his maiden tag after a likeable effort when third over 2m at Uttoxeter earlier this month. Alastair Ralph’s runner shaped as if this step up in trip would suit and he makes plenty of appeal. Shandancer is feared most after a willing effort over the extended 2m4f at Plumpton behind a rival who has subsequently franked the form, while Arabescato heads the remainder
