TUESDAY 5TH SEPTEMBER YOUR GUIDE TO TODAY’S RACING Official racecard £3 SEPTEMBER MEETING
Stay after racing this evening to enjoy live music from Flash: A Tribute to Queen. Head to the Paddock to watch from approximately 5.45pm.
A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN
TUESDAY 5TH SEPTEMBER 2023
Good Afternoon,
Welcome to The September Meeting. Today we have an exciting first for Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse, live music after racing.
On today’s race card we have six races. The first, The September Meeting Handicap Hurdle Race, will begin today’s events at 1:50pm. Later in the afternoon, we have The Carr and Associates LLP Handicap Steeple Chase at 3:00pm. Finally, we finish with the Flash: A Tribute to Queen Handicap Hurdle Race at 4:45pm.
The fun doesn’t stop when racing finishes today! We are proud to present Flash: A tribute to Queen. They will be bringing the iconic band’s much-loved hits and anthems to Bangor-on-Dee. Don’t ‘break free’ after racing, as ‘we will rock you’ here at the only racecourse in North Wales!
We’d like to extend our thanks to today’s sponsors; Carr & Associates LLP, Gaskells, and Proactive Personnel. All at Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse are grateful for your support.
We next race here on Wednesday 4 October for The Autumn Meeting. Hopefully you can join us again for another unmissable day of racing.
Jonathon Turner, Chairman Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse

HOW TO BET WITH A RACECOURSE BOOKMAKER
WAYS TO BET STRAIGHT
Win only
EACH WAY
A bookmaker taking each way bets will display the terms on which he/she accepts such bets on the top of his/her board. This is a bet for your selection to win or be placed.
STANDARD TERMS FOR EACH WAY BETTING
In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting.
· Fewer than 5 runners – all to win
5-7 runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2
· 8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1-2-3
Handicaps with 12-15 runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3
· Handicaps with 16 or more runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3-4
AWAY BETTING
Many bookmakers will also take bets at the other race meetings today. They offer a comprehensive service, including bets settled TAX FREE at Starting Price (S.P.)
BETTING WITHOUT THE FAVOURITE
At reduced odds you can back a horse and collect if it wins or runs second to the horse nominated by the bookmaker as favourite.
PLACING YOUR BET
Shop around for the best odds against your selection. When you have decided on where to place your bet, state the number of your chosen horse and the stake, for example “number 4, £2 win”. Listen to the bookmaker repeat the number of the horse and the stake to his/her clerk and hand your stake to the bookmaker You will then be given an itemised receipt that gives details of the bet and shows potential winnings. You should keep this ticket safe.
COLLECTING YOUR WINNINGS
If your selection wins (or, in the case of a place bet, is placed), hand the ticket back to the bookmaker for settlement. NEVER destroy your ticket until after the “Weighed In” announcement has been made. There may still be a Stewards’ Enquiry and the first past the post, or placed horses, may be disqualified. On rare occasions even the horse coming fourth has been awarded the race You may bet with confidence with any bookmaker as they have all been approved by the Administration of Gambling on Tracks Ltd, which administers the betting rings at each of Britain’s 60 racecourses. The AGT also offers a full late pay service, in case a bookmaker leaves the course before you have collected your winnings.
Late pay claims should be sent to AGT, 3A Kings Hall,Parsons Green, St Ives, Cambridgeshire PE27 4WY.
Tel: 01480 499180
In the unlikely event that no independent bookmaker turns up to service either end of the racecourse (Bangor and Overton car parks), Bangor Sport will be able to service all betting requirements. Bangor Sport will offer to either ‘take the price’ or use the SP as a means of settling any bet. We will endeavour to show all races (including all those from away courses) on screens at either end of the course. If you have any queries, please ask a member of staff for help.

HHHHH Selected to win the race

HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope.
HIIII Can be given little or no chance.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

Kielan Woods has a 28% strike-rate at Bangor-on-Dee over the last five years, yielding a level-stakes profit of £36.84, and he rides One Touch (1.50) and Northern Bound (3.35) this afternoon.
ONE TOUCH, who scored over an extended 2m3f here last summer, made a pleasing return to action at Newton Abbot 36 days ago. The handicapper has given the nine-year-old a chance by dropping him 2lb for that effort and, with scope for improvement over this new trip, there is a lot to like about his chances. Halifax appears to be on a workable mark, while Finisk River is feared most from the remainder
WIN: ONE TOUCH
DANGER: HALIFAX
LITTEL FLOUR has done well in two previous starts for Jennie Candlish and she can make it third time lucky for her new yard here. Come On Du Berlais is another that has to be taken seriously on her first start after a wind operation, while the onceraced Luckie Money has scope for improvement and can be expected to be wiser after her debut experience at Stratford in July
WIN: LITTEL FLOUR
DANGER: COME ON DU BERLAIS
COURT MASTER is a prime candidate to make the running here and he may well be able to make his dominance count The veteran has a consistent profile over fences and, off 4lb lower than when last successful, he has a live chance at the weights. Quid Pro Quo is another reliable type to consider, while Fidux is not ruled out despite not having won for over two years.
WIN: COURT MASTER
DANGER: QUID PRO QUO
Runner-up on his last three starts, Go On Chez should be thereabouts once more, though he might have to play second-fiddle to THE BIG JETAWAY. Having secured back-to-back victories over fences, Donald McCain’s charge recorded a facile hurdling success 15 days ago. 5lb higher back over the larger obstacles, the sevenyear-old can land the four-timer. Vintage Fizz can chase the pair home ahead of Northern Bound.
WIN: THE BIG JETAWAY
DANGER: GO ON CHEZ
CHOIRMASTER struck over course and distance from 6lb lower last month and the four-year-old could find further improvement with the addition of first-time cheekpieces, and he is taken to follow up. Ve Day continues to knock on the door and must firmly enter the reckoning, along with Governor Green, who hit the frame at Uttoxeter from a 1lb higher mark last time out.
WIN: CHOIRMASTER
DANGER: VE DAY
MY POEM bumped into an improver when filling the runner-up spot at Uttoxeter last time and she is fancied to go one better raised a further 3lb in the handicap. First-time cheekpieces could eke out more progression from the largely consistent Taragrace, while similar comments apply to Never No Trouble, who is fitted with a visor for the first time. Last month’s Market Rasen second Calvic is also noted.
WIN: MY POEM
DANGER: TARAGRACE

EVACUATION PROCEDURE
18 Bangor Racecourse has enhanced Safety & Security measures to ensure your safety, comfort and enjoyment of the day. However, an incident may occur which is beyond our control and it is important that you are aware of how we intend to look after you in the event of an emergency.
We employ professionally trained and experienced stewards who are located predominantly around the course and are identifiable by their uniform.
In the event of a situation that requires partial or full evacuation of the stands or racecourse, announcements will be broadcast and stewards will undertake the responsibility of ushering you to a place of safety; it is essential that you follow their instructions. Please take your immediate belongings with you and proceed out of the area quickly and calmly with the guidance of the stewards.
The above is precautionary only and we trust that the procedures will never be required. However, in the event of an emergency, remember:
• Take your belongings with you;
• Under the directions of the stewards, proceed quickly and calmly to the safe area.
