15. Aguide to the horse’s recentform and star rating. Each horse has been given a star rating, these are defined below:
HHHHH Selected to win the race
HHHHI Good chance of being placed. HHHII By no means out of the reckoning but at least one or two hold stronger claims
HHIII Unlikely to win but not totally without hope. HIIII Can be given little or no chance.
16. Jockey’s Name. If there is a number next to the name, this indicates that the jockey can claim that amount in weight (lbs) off the stated riding weight
The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).
The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.
Win only A bookmaker taking each way bets will display the terms on which he/she accepts such bets on the top of his/her board. This is a bet for your selection to win or be placed.
In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting.
· Fewer than 5 runners – all to win
5-7 runners 1/4 odds a place 1-2
· 8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1-2-3
Handicaps with 12-15 runners 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3
· Handicaps with 16 or more runners 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3-4
Many bookmakers will also take bets at the other race meetings today. They offer a comprehensive service, including bets settled TAX FREE at Starting Price (S.P.)
At reduced odds you can back a horse and collect if it wins or runs second to the horse nominated by the bookmaker as favourite.
Shop around for the best odds against your selection. When you have decided on where to place your bet, state the number of your chosen horse and the stake, for example “number 4, £2 win”. Listen to the bookmaker repeat the number of the horse and the stake to his/her clerk and hand your stake to the bookmaker You will then be given an itemised receipt that gives details of the bet and shows potential winnings. You should keep this ticket safe.
If your selection wins (or, in the case of a place bet, is placed), hand the ticket back to the bookmaker for settlement. NEVER destroy your ticket until after the “Weighed In” announcement has been made. There may still be a Stewards’ Enquiry and the first past the post, or placed horses, may be disqualified. On rare occasions even the horse coming fourth has been awarded the race You may bet with confidence with any bookmaker as they have all been approved by the Administration of Gambling on Tracks Ltd, which administers the betting rings at each of Britain’s 60 racecourses. The AGT also offers a full late pay service, in case a bookmaker leaves the course before you have collected your winnings.
Late pay claims should be sent to AGT, 3A Kings Hall,Parsons Green, St Ives, Cambridgeshire PE27 4WY.
Tel: 01480 499180
In the unlikely event that no independent bookmaker turns up to service either end of the racecourse (Bangor and Overton car parks), Bangor Sport will be able to service all betting requirements. Bangor Sport will offer to either ‘take the price’ or use the SP as a means of settling any bet. We will endeavour to show all races (including all those from away courses) on screens at either end of the course. If you have any queries, please ask a member of staff for help.
A left-handed track of approximately one mile three furlongs in circumference. There are nine relatively easy fences per circuit and a run-in of 325 yards. Three tight turns make the course somewhat sharp in nature

The following horses are running today in a race at least two grades lower than their previous race: 12.53 WILD ROMANCE (down 4 grades); 12.53 SIR PSYCHO (down 3).
D MCCAIN won the 2.38 race in 2013 and 2017 The stable is represented by HAVEANOTHERGOFLO in the race today.

BLACKJACK MAGIC (12.53) & PURE THEATRE (3.48) trained by A Honeyball, Beaminster, distance of 216 miles. NOTE: All statistics are up to and including 24th November.
Henry Daly is operating at a 36% strike-rate in November and the Shropshire-based handler could enhance that statistic today courtesy of Petty Cash (12.23), Lounge Lizard (1.28), Duke Of Moravia (2.03) and Rockinastorm (2.38).
THE BIG JETAWAY was last seen securing an easy victory at Sedgefield in February and a 5lb raised mark for that success may not be enough to stop him on his return from a break. He boasts a respectable record fresh so can make his presence felt, while Feel The Pinch seeks to improve on his chasing bow following a reasonable fourth over timber at Lingfield earlier this month. Crack Du Ninian is another to bear in mind.
WIN: THE BIG JETAWAY DANGER: FEEL THE PINCH
BARRICHELLO made a pleasing return to action when securing a good third at Uttoxeter over 2m last month and a stiffer stamina test can see him build on that given he was keeping on well on that occasion. Harper’s Brook would be dangerous to dismiss with his latest run in mind, while Wild Romance remains very unexposed and open to improvement on her chasing bow despite returning from a 743-day absence.
WIN: BARRICHELLO DANGER: HARPER’S BROOK
There was no stopping Tim Pat at the end of last season and Donald McCain’s charge secured a hat-trick from February to March. He is unbeaten over fences and arrives here following a wind operation. It could be worth siding with the Dan Skelton-trained JEFFERY’S CROSS, though. He came back from a break to finish a distant second at Fontwell last month but, off 2lb lower, he can improve on that Lounge Lizard is another to consider
WIN: JEFFERY’S CROSS
DANGER: TIM PAT
The Henry Daly stable can do little wrong at present and DUKE OF MORAVIA can provide another winner as he looks to improve on a promising Rules debut effort at Hereford. The son of Marcel seemed to get the hang of things late on there and he is narrowly preferred to impressive C&D winner Gwennie May Boy, who has a 6lb penalty to overcome. Grain D’oudairies cannot be ruled out either
WIN: DUKE OF MORAVIA
DANGER: GWENNIE MAY BOY
An impressive winner of an Irish point-to-point in February, a chance can be taken on newcomer HAVEANOTHERGOFLO. The Donald McCain yard knows how to ready one and he may have too much for the likes of Horacio Apple’s, who performed with credit at Carlisle on his hurdles bow, and Val Dancer, who would hold strong claims if bouncing back to the form of his penultimate effort.
WIN: HAVEANOTHERGOFLO DANGER: HORACIO APPLE’S
Runasimi River is the highest rated of these mares and she returns to hurdling after running over the larger obstacles of late, which may spark an improved display The nod, however, goes to GALANTE DE ROMAY, who is likely to enjoy this step up in trip after running on nicely over 2m at Ffos Las. Walk In My Shoes appears to be the biggest danger on her return from an absence.
WIN: GALANTE DE ROMAY DANGER: WALK IN MY SHOES
Blue Fin was starting to get the hang of things in point-to-points, with a couple of placed efforts earlier in the year, and he should be capable of competing in a race of this nature, but he appears vulnerable to WAY OUT, who has the benefit of experience under Rules. Syd Hosie’s charge was a winner of a point-to-point in March before running second of 12 in an Ascot bumper. Sole Solution rates best of the rest.
