EARLY NOVEMBER YOUR GUIDE TO TODAY’S RACING
WEDNESDAY 9TH NOVEMBER Official racecard £3
A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN WEDNESDAY 9 NOVEMBER 2022 Good Afternoon, Welcome to the Early November Meeting at Bangor-on-Dee Racecourse. As the nights get earlier, so does our racing schedule as we move into the autumn and winter racing period where Bangor-on-Dee shines as an all-year track. Today we have seven excellent races on the card. The first begins at 12:50pm and is The Weatherbys nhstallions.co.uk Handicap Steeple Chase. This is followed by our listed race of the day at 1:25pm, The Yorton Stallions Mares’ Novices’ Steeple Chase with a prize of £40,000. Later in the afternoon, racing will end with the completion of the 4:05pm race, The GBR Everyone’s Turf Novices’ Hurdle Race. I’d like to extend our thanks to today’s sponsors – Weatherbys, Yorton Farm, Greenhous and Great British Racing. All of us at Bangor-on-Dee are grateful for your continued support. We next race later on this month, on Saturday 26 November when the Late November Meeting arrives. I hope you’ll be able to join us again then.

HOW TO BET WITH A
RACECOURSE BOOKMAKER
WAYS TO BET
STRAIGHT
Win only
EACH WAY
A bookmaker taking each way bets will display the terms on which he/she accepts such bets on the top of his/her board. This is a bet for your selection to win or be placed.
STANDARD TERMS FOR EACH WAY BETTING In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting. · Fewer than 5 runners – all to win · 5-7 runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2 · 8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1-2-3 · Handicaps with 12-15 runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3 · Handicaps with 16 or more runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3-4
AWAY BETTING Many bookmakers will also take bets at the other race meetings today. They offer a comprehensive service, including bets settled TAX FREE at Starting Price (S.P.)
BETTING WITHOUT THE FAVOURITE At reduced odds you can back a horse and collect if it wins or runs second to the horse nominated by the bookmaker as favourite.
PLACING YOUR BET Shop around for the best odds against your selection. When you have decided on where to place your bet, state the number of your chosen horse and the stake, for example “number 4, £2 win”. Listen to the bookmaker repeat the number of the horse and the stake to his/her clerk and hand your stake to the bookmaker. You will then be given an itemised receipt that gives details of the bet and shows potential winnings. You should keep this ticket safe.
COLLECTING YOUR WINNINGS If your selection wins (or, in the case of a place bet, is placed), hand the ticket back to the bookmaker for settlement. NEVER destroy your ticket until after the “Weighed In” announcement has been made. There may still be a Stewards’ Enquiry and the first past the post, or placed horses, may be disqualified. On rare occasions even the horse coming fourth has been awarded the race. You may bet with confidence with any bookmaker as they have all been approved by the Administration of Gambling on Tracks Ltd, which administers the betting rings at each of Britain’s 60 racecourses. The AGT also offers a full late pay service, in case a bookmaker leaves the course before you have collected your winnings. Late pay claims should be sent to AGT, 3A Kings Hall,Parsons Green, St Ives, Cambridgeshire PE27 4WY. Tel: 01480 499180 In the unlikely event that no independent bookmaker turns up to service either end of the racecourse (Bangor and Overton car parks), Bangor Sport will be able to service all betting requirements. Bangor Sport will offer to either ‘take the price’ or use the SP as a means of settling any bet. We will endeavour to show all races (including all those from away courses) on screens at either end of the course. If you have any queries, please ask a member of staff for help.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

DID YOU KNOW
TODAY’S TOP TIPS
Alan King has won two of the last three renewals of the Yorton Stallions Mares’ Novices’ Chase and the Wiltshire-based trainer is represented by Her Indoors in today’s event at 1.25.
YGGDRASIL secured a fair third on his return at Worcester over a distance arguably short of his best and Jane Williams’ fifve-year-old can bounce back to winning ways to repeat his victory of 12 months ago. Five Star Getaway was last seen fifnishing in mid-division in the Topham at Aintree and is feared on his return, while Knight In Dubai and Nelson River are others of interest dropped in class.
RACE 2
WIN: YGGDRASIL
FOUND ON arrives here with the highest rating after recording a fiffth-successive win over fences at Cheltenham last month and this is a good opportunity for the mare to notch yet another win. Faith Du Val created a good impression when winning on her chase debut at Sligo in September and may give the selection most to think about, ahead of the chasing debutant Galia Des Liteaux
RACE 3
WIN: FOUND ON
RACE 4 RACE 5
DANGER: WHOSHOTTHESHERIFF
A chance can be taken with the Richard Hobson-trained OUR FOLLET on his racecourse bow. A half-brother to the talented Fou Et Sage, a Listed winner over hurdles in France, he certainly makes a lot of appeal on paper and merits the utmost respect this afternoon. Ghyll Manor is closely related to plenty of winners on the Flat and is feared most ahead of Javert Allen. WIN: OUR FOLLET
DANGER: GHYLL MANOR
Hunters Call was just denied victory by a nose on his most recent start over 2m4f at Uttoxeter in April and has a good record fresh, but this 12-year-old could fifnd a couple too good off top-weight. With that in mind, preference is for the unbeaten LADY ADARE, who was last seen bolting up at Taunton over 2m3f in February. It would be foolish to underestimate her on her return to action, while Bon Retour must also enter calculations. WIN: LADY ADARE
RACE 6
DANGER: FAITH DU VAL
Whoshotthesheriff is entitled to come on for last month’s seasonal debut second at Wetherby and he is only 2lb higher in the handicap than when scoring at Carlisle in March. However, LE MILOS is an intriguing runner on his fifrst appearance for the Dan Skelton yard and he remains unexposed. Ask Me Early was progressive prior to unseating at Wincanton and merits consideration, along with C&D winner Notachance. WIN: LE MILOS
DANGER: BON RETOUR
Ivar is worth considering on his UK debut, having shown promise in both of his starts over hurdles in France, and given that he represents an in-form yard, he needs to be monitored closely. Ramo has a similar profifle and is also respected, but preference is for RISKINTHEGROUND. Fifth in a Listed bumper at Ascot last December, Dan Skelton’s representative is bred to do well over hurdles and he’s fancied to make an immediate impact. WIN: RISKINTHEGROUND
RACE 7
DANGER: FIVE STAR GETAWAY
DANGER: IVAR
MAXIMILIAN won a point-to-point and two bumpers before making a successful debut over hurdles at Carlisle last month. He carries a 6lb penalty for that success this afternoon but is progressive and can cope with the extra burden. The highly-rated chaser Saint Palais looks the best alternative, while Merveillo, who won a Listed race on the Flat during his time in France, could also go well now switched to hurdles. WIN: MAXIMILIAN
DANGER: SAINT PALAIS

Race Summary: The Nicky Richards yard couldn’t be in much better order so his unexposed 6-y-o HARD IRON gets the verdict to supplement his C&D success just over a fortnight ago. Second choice is Benito, who was unlucky to bump into an improver at Carlisle last month, while Ardera Cross looks well handicapped to have a say reverted back over the smaller obstacles so he rounds off the shortlist.
