PLACING YOUR BET Shop around for the best odds against your selection. When you have decided on where to place your bet, state the number of your chosen horse and the stake, for example “number 4, £2 win”. Listen to the bookmaker repeat the number of the horse and the stake to his/her clerk and hand your stake to the bookmaker You will then be given an itemised receipt that gives details of the bet and shows potential winnings. You should keep this ticket safe.

WAYS TO BET STRAIGHT
STANDARD TERMS FOR EACH WAY BETTING
Late pay claims should be sent to AGT, 3A Kings Hall,Parsons Green, St Ives, Cambridgeshire PE27 4WY. Tel: 01480 499180 In the unlikely event that no independent bookmaker turns up to service either end of the racecourse (Bangor and Overton car parks), Bangor Sport will be able to service all betting requirements. Bangor Sport will offer to either ‘take the price’ or use the SP as a means of settling any bet. We will endeavour to show all races (including all those from away courses) on screens at either end of the course. If you have any queries, please ask a member of staff for help.
Many bookmakers will also take bets at the other race meetings today. They offer a comprehensive service, including bets settled TAX FREE at Starting Price (S.P.)
COLLECTING YOUR WINNINGS
· Fewer than 5 runners – all to win 5-7 runners 1/4 odds a place 1-2
At reduced odds you can back a horse and collect if it wins or runs second to the horse nominated by the bookmaker as favourite.
If your selection wins (or, in the case of a place bet, is placed), hand the ticket back to the bookmaker for settlement. NEVER destroy your ticket until after the “Weighed In” announcement has been made. There may still be a Stewards’ Enquiry and the first past the post, or placed horses, may be disqualified. On rare occasions even the horse coming fourth has been awarded the race You may bet with confidence with any bookmaker as they have all been approved by the Administration of Gambling on Tracks Ltd, which administers the betting rings at each of Britain’s 60 racecourses. The AGT also offers a full late pay service, in case a bookmaker leaves the course before you have collected your winnings.
BETTING WITHOUT THE FAVOURITE
In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting.
· 8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1-2-3 Handicaps with 12-15 runners 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3
HOW TO BET WITH A RACECOURSE BOOKMAKER
EACH WAY Win only A bookmaker taking each way bets will display the terms on which he/she accepts such bets on the top of his/her board. This is a bet for your selection to win or be placed.

1. Colours
The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances).

The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. TODAY’S TOP TIPS
WIN: BEMPTON CLIFFS DANGER: BAREST OF MARGINS RA CE 2 A 7lb rise in the weights looks unlikely to prevent another bold bid from BOB’S BAR, who recorded a career-best effort when hacking up at Worcester last month. This venue should hold no fears, having won over an extended 2m4f here in April, and in an open event, he receives a tentative vote. Shareef Star must be feared following his recent C&D success, while Coal Stock, who drops in trip, is another to consider.
Nicky Henderson’s FAROUK DE CHENEAU could be the one to side with on his first try at 3m. He’s been staying on well over shorter recently and he still looks relatively unexposed, so he could take some stopping as he bids to get off the mark here. Aviewtosea has been running well over fences and may be the biggest danger on his return to hurdling, while it’s still early days for Charlie Uberalles and more progress from Dianne Sayer’s six-year-old can’t be ruled out
WIN: LEADING THEATRE DANGER: SIMPLY RED RA CE 7 A mistake at the second-last flight proved costly for PRESENTANDCOUNTING on his latest outing, but he can get back on track this evening. Donald McCain’s charge drops in trip having raced over 2m7f at Worcester and, with an official rating of 125, it will take a gutsy performance to beat the eight-year-old. A winner on her hurdling debut in June, Quiet Thunder could give the selection most to think about, while the others, headed by Son Of Aliciaslady, will need more to feature.
WIN: PRESENTANDCOUNTING DANGER: QUIET THUNDER RA CE 1
WIN: BOB’S BAR DANGER: SHAREEF STAR RA CE 3 A small but talented field head to post for the feature contest, in which Summer Plate winner FRANCKY DU BERLAIS is fancied to come out on top. Back in handicap company, Peter Bowen’s nine-year-old is 2lb lower than when scoring at Uttoxeter in April and it would be a surprise were she to not be thereabouts. Top-weight Wbee features prominently in calculations having shown marked progression this summer, while the ultra-consistent Latino Fling should be in the thick of things in receipt of weight all round.
RA CE 5
WIN: FRANCKY DU BERLAIS DANGER: WBEE RA CE 4
BEMPTON CLIFFS arrives in search of a hat-trick over fences, having won at Market Rasen and Warwick. The son of Canford Cliffs has gone up a total of 17lb in the handicap for those successes, but he appeals as the type to improve further and gets the vote. It appeared as though Barest Of Margins was booked for victory when coming to grief at the second-last on his latest outing, so he’s considered from a 4lb higher mark. Punxsutawney Phil and Begoodtoyourself shouldn’t be underestimated either
A few with chances here, but LONG CALL could hardly have been more impressive when winning by 14 lengths here last month and although a 12lb rise will undoubtedly make things tougher, he looks the one to side with. Elham Valley disappointed on the Flat at Epsom recently and should be more at home back over hurdles, but the biggest danger could be the lightly-raced Rafik, who has made a pleasing start over hurdles and could be well treated for his handicap debut
WIN: LONG CALL DANGER: RAFIK RA CE 6
WIN: FAROUK DE CHENEAU DANGER: AVIEWTOSEA
Donald McCain has won the last three runnings of the IML Marine Management Handicap Hurdle and the local handler saddles Red Vision in this year’s renewal at 7.40.DID YO U KNO W
The longer trip looks sure to suit LEADING THEATRE on her handicap debut and although she takes on some in-form rivals, Fergal O’Brien’s six-year-old looks the one to beat here. Despite the form taking some knocks since, her second in a Listed mares’ bumper reads very well in the context of this race and an opening mark of 105 could underestimate her. Simply Red keeps going agonisingly close without winning and shouldn’t be far away, while Malina Ocarina can’t be discounted with Sean Bowen on board for the first time.
