RACECOURSE CODE OF CONDUCT As part of our joint commitment to each other and the communities in which we operate, all racegoers should be aware of the Code of Conduct before entering a racecourse: For your safety and the safety of others, please make sure to observe the following whilst at our Racecourse: • If you’re travelling to the racecourse via public transport, please ensure you adhere to the relevant guidance. • Do not travel to the racecourse if you have any Covid-19 symptoms as entry will be denied. • For the safety of other racegoers and racecourse staff, please consider wearing a face covering in busy indoor areas. • Regularly wash your hands, use hand sanitizer and avoid touching your face and dispose of any used tissues appropriately. • Familiarise yourself with your entry point [entry time] and location of amenities within the racecourse • Some racecourses may choose to operate a cashless event. On-course bookmakers/pool betting operators may accept cash. • Enjoy the vast amounts of space around the racecourse and avoid congregating in busy areas (for example, along the rail or by the Winning Post). • Make sure all walkways, corridors and doorways etc are clear before you walk through. • Follow all signage and the instructions of staff, officials or any emergency service personnel present at the racecourse. • Do not try to access areas of the racecourse apart the area detailed on your ticket. • Make sure other members of your group have read and understood these guidelines.
Thank you so much for your support and co-operation. We hope you have a wonderful day with us at the races.
HOW TO BET WITH A
RACECOURSE BOOKMAKER
WAYS TO BET
STRAIGHT
Win only
EACH WAY
A bookmaker taking each way bets will display the terms on which he/she accepts such bets on the top of his/her board. This is a bet for your selection to win or be placed.
STANDARD TERMS FOR EACH WAY BETTING In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting. · Fewer than 5 runners – all to win · 5-7 runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2 · 8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1-2-3 · Handicaps with 12-15 runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3 · Handicaps with 16 or more runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3-4
AWAY BETTING Many bookmakers will also take bets at the other race meetings today. They offer a comprehensive service, including bets settled TAX FREE at Starting Price (S.P.)
BETTING WITHOUT THE FAVOURITE At reduced odds you can back a horse and collect if it wins or runs second to the horse nominated by the bookmaker as favourite.
PLACING YOUR BET Shop around for the best odds against your selection. When you have decided on where to place your bet, state the number of your chosen horse and the stake, for example “number 4, £2 win”. Listen to the bookmaker repeat the number of the horse and the stake to his/her clerk and hand your stake to the bookmaker. You will then be given an itemised receipt that gives details of the bet and shows potential winnings. You should keep this ticket safe.
COLLECTING YOUR WINNINGS If your selection wins (or, in the case of a place bet, is placed), hand the ticket back to the bookmaker for settlement. NEVER destroy your ticket until after the “Weighed In” announcement has been made. There may still be a Stewards’ Enquiry and the first past the post, or placed horses, may be disqualified. On rare occasions even the horse coming fourth has been awarded the race. You may bet with confidence with any bookmaker as they have all been approved by the Administration of Gambling on Tracks Ltd, which administers the betting rings at each of Britain’s 60 racecourses. The AGT also offers a full late pay service, in case a bookmaker leaves the course before you have collected your winnings. Late pay claims should be sent to AGT, 3A Kings Hall,Parsons Green, St Ives, Cambridgeshire PE27 4WY. Tel: 01480 499180 In the unlikely event that no independent bookmaker turns up to service either end of the racecourse (Bangor and Overton car parks), Bangor Sport will be able to service all betting requirements. Bangor Sport will offer to either ‘take the price’ or use the SP as a means of settling any bet. We will endeavour to show all races (including all those from away courses) on screens at either end of the course. If you have any queries, please ask a member of staff for help.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

RACE 1
In an open event the marginal preference is for MINT CONDITION, who failed to fire on his seasonal return but it is far too soon to be writing him off. The seven-year-old was a useful novice hurdler last season, placing at Grade 2 level in January, and he should have no problem switching to fences. Fern Hill is another who could bounce back to form today, while Champagnesuperover and Butler’s Brief complete the shortlist. WIN: MINT CONDITION DANGER: FERN HILL
RACE 2
A chance can be taken with DEMOPOLIS, who was pulled up on his seasonal return last month but he may benefit for a subsequent wind operation. The seven-year-old is only 3lb higher than when narrowly beaten at Fontwell on his final start last season and he should not be underestimated. Out On The Tear put in a promising display last time and could go well, while Jack Valentine is another to note. WIN: DEMOPOLIS DANGER: OUT ON THE TEAR
RACE 3
GERICAULT ROQUE ended last season with an impressive hurdle success at Sandown in March and he was not disgraced on his seasonal/chasing debut at Wetherby last month. David Pipe’s unexposed gelding may have more improvement left to come and gets the vote ahead of Aaron Lad, who bounced back to form when last seen at Cartmel. The shortlist is completed by Tanarpino, Eclair De Guye and Fleminport. WIN: GERICAULT ROQUE DANGER: AARON LAD
RACE 4
It’s never easy for these novices carrying a penalty, but RICHMOND LAKE looked above average when sweeping aside odds-on favourite Hermes Boy over C&D earlier this month (third has won since) and he could take some stopping in his bid to follow up. Olly Murphy looks to have a couple of solid chances with Goleirihem and Lupus Regem, although the latter has questions to answer after hanging badly right and running out last time, while Monte Igueldo may improve on his Wetherby fifth. WIN: RICHMOND LAKE DANGER: GOLEIRIHEM
RACE 5
GREDIN justified strong market support when scoring on his stable/hurdling debut at Carlisle last month and he is fancied to complete the double for his in-form connections. There are a number of potential dangers, though, with Wetherby scorer Thunder Rock topping the list. Guardino also ran well at Wetherby when last sighted and he can’t be overlooked, nor can Stag Horn, a 103-rated Flat performer going hurdling for the first time. WIN: GREDIN DANGER: THUNDER ROCK
RACE 6
Dr Richard Newland and Charlie Hammond teamed up to land the Proactive Personnel Handicap Chase with Mr Caffrey in 2019 and the trainer/jockey partnership bid to repeat the dose with Aaron Lad in this year’s renewal at 1.22.
The Olly Murphy-trained MINI CREST had excuses when finishing fourth at Lingfield last month and the daughter of Flemensfirth looks capable of a much better showing off a 2lb lower mark. She may hold an advantage over Miss Bamby, who broke her maiden at Hereford on her latest start, while Uisce Ur ran well when second off this mark at Warwick on her penultimate outing and can also feature. WIN: MINI CREST DANGER: MISS BAMBY
RACE 7
DID YOU KNOW
TODAY’S TOP TIPS
STROLL ON BY was well fancied when making a promising start to his career at Carlisle last month, travelling well before being narrowly held by a more experience rival. The gelded son of Walk In The Park can put that experience to good use and get the better of a couple of newcomers, namely We Gotta Getaway and Hourvari, who both represent good yards. WIN: STROLL ON BY DANGER: WE GOTTA GETAWAY
