RACECOURSE CODE OF CONDUCT As part of our joint commitment to each other and the communities in which we operate, all racegoers should be aware of the Code of Conduct before entering a racecourse: For your safety and the safety of others, please make sure to observe the following whilst at our Racecourse: • If you’re travelling to the racecourse via public transport, please ensure you adhere to the relevant guidance. • Do not travel to the racecourse if you have any Covid-19 symptoms as entry will be denied. • For the safety of other racegoers and racecourse staff, please consider wearing a face covering in busy indoor areas. • Regularly wash your hands, use hand sanitizer and avoid touching your face and dispose of any used tissues appropriately. • Familiarise yourself with your entry point [entry time] and location of amenities within the racecourse • Some racecourses may choose to operate a cashless event. On-course bookmakers/pool betting operators may accept cash. • Enjoy the vast amounts of space around the racecourse and avoid congregating in busy areas (for example, along the rail or by the Winning Post). • Make sure all walkways, corridors and doorways etc are clear before you walk through. • Follow all signage and the instructions of staff, officials or any emergency service personnel present at the racecourse. • Do not try to access areas of the racecourse apart the area detailed on your ticket. • Make sure other members of your group have read and understood these guidelines.

HOW TO BET WITH A

RACECOURSE BOOKMAKER

WAYS TO BET

STRAIGHT

Win only

EACH WAY

A bookmaker taking each way bets will display the terms on which he/she accepts such bets on the top of his/her board. This is a bet for your selection to win or be placed.

STANDARD TERMS FOR EACH WAY BETTING In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting. · Fewer than 5 runners – all to win · 5-7 runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2 · 8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1-2-3 · Handicaps with 12-15 runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3 · Handicaps with 16 or more runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3-4

AWAY BETTING Many bookmakers will also take bets at the other race meetings today. They offer a comprehensive service, including bets settled TAX FREE at Starting Price (S.P.)

BETTING WITHOUT THE FAVOURITE At reduced odds you can back a horse and collect if it wins or runs second to the horse nominated by the bookmaker as favourite.

PLACING YOUR BET Shop around for the best odds against your selection. When you have decided on where to place your bet, state the number of your chosen horse and the stake, for example “number 4, £2 win”. Listen to the bookmaker repeat the number of the horse and the stake to his/her clerk and hand your stake to the bookmaker. You will then be given an itemised receipt that gives details of the bet and shows potential winnings. You should keep this ticket safe.

COLLECTING YOUR WINNINGS If your selection wins (or, in the case of a place bet, is placed), hand the ticket back to the bookmaker for settlement. NEVER destroy your ticket until after the “Weighed In” announcement has been made. There may still be a Stewards’ Enquiry and the first past the post, or placed horses, may be disqualified. On rare occasions even the horse coming fourth has been awarded the race. You may bet with confidence with any bookmaker as they have all been approved by the Administration of Gambling on Tracks Ltd, which administers the betting rings at each of Britain’s 60 racecourses. The AGT also offers a full late pay service, in case a bookmaker leaves the course before you have collected your winnings. Late pay claims should be sent to AGT, 3A Kings Hall,Parsons Green, St Ives, Cambridgeshire PE27 4WY. Tel: 01480 499180 In the unlikely event that no independent bookmaker turns up to service either end of the racecourse (Bangor and Overton car parks), Bangor Sport will be able to service all betting requirements. Bangor Sport will offer to either ‘take the price’ or use the SP as a means of settling any bet. We will endeavour to show all races (including all those from away courses) on screens at either end of the course. If you have any queries, please ask a member of staff for help.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

DID YOU KNOW

Dr Richard Newland has only had one bumper runner here in the last five years but it resulted in success, which bodes well for the chances of King Arise in the finale (5.30). The grey looked the part winning between the flags back in the spring.

RACE 1

GO DANTE created a strong impression when he justified favouritism on his racecourse debut to land a bumper at Wincanton back in March. The five-year-old comes from a strong National Hunt family and he gets the vote to score on his hurdling bow. Ted’s Friend shaped with promise at Warwick and he could be the danger on his first start over obstacles, while Black Poppy, Green Planet and Zamond also have claims. WIN: GO DANTE DANGER: TED’S FRIEND

RACE 2

Bob’s Bar was a pleasing winner at Hexham earlier this month and he warrants respect despite having to shoulder a 7lb penalty. However, preference is for WASHINGTON, who was very impressive when landing bumpers at Fakenham and Huntingdon last season, and he can make a winning start to his hurdling career. Hurlerontheditch is an interesting contender on his first start for Kim Bailey and he is one to note after wind surgery. WIN: WASHINGTON DANGER: BOB’S BAR

RACE 3

Representing Bob made a pleasing start to his chasing career when scoring at Stratford and he is likely to figure again after a 6lb rise. However, RINTULLA didn’t appear to stay when tried over the best part of three miles at Huntingdon last time out and he can bounce back to winning ways now returning to this more suitable distance. On The Platform is one to note returning from a break, while Deputy Jones and Master Malcolm are also considered. WIN: RINTULLA DANGER: REPRESENTING BOB

RACE 4

Similar to his stable, NOT AT PRESENT has been in a terrific vein of form having not finished outside the first two on his last three outings. Successful in a maiden hurdle over this trip at Worcester in August, he has since been narrowly beaten over further and is taken to resume winning ways. Last month’s C&D scorer Hillview looks to pose the biggest threat, although Champagne Noir has been knocking on the door of late. WIN: NOT AT PRESENT DANGER: HILLVIEW

RACE 5

Salamanca School has strong claims following a convincing success at Plumpton, for which he has a 7lb penalty. That race slightly fell apart, though, with three non-finishers, and he may have his work cut out fending off the challenge of Irish import GIVE ME A MOMENT. The six-year-old shaped well on his first start for new connections at Stratford and there should be improvement forthcoming. Schmidt and Follow Your Fire are not to be discounted either. WIN: GIVE ME A MOMENT DANGER: SALAMANCA SCHOOL

RACE 6

A race littered with in-form contenders, with the vote going to last month’s C&D winner SATURN ‘N SILK, who could be well treated on her handicap debut having won easily at Chepstow before that. Could Be Trouble arrives in search of a four-timer and is expected to be thereabouts, as is Sedgefield scorer Dazzling Glory, who is another making her handicap bow. A 5lb rise for her most recent success at Warwick may be enough to halt the progress of Isthebaropen, who has won three of her last four. WIN: SATURN ‘N SILK DANGER: COULD BE TROUBLE

RACE 7

Steel Wave may be 11 now but he has won twice here, including once over C&D, and if a first-time visor brings about any improvement, he is well handicapped on his better form, with his jockey’s claim a bonus. However, POLDARK CROSS has some solid placed form and although he is yet to jump a fence in public, he is open to any amount of improvement. Oscar Nomination is another to consider after his half-length third here in July. WIN: POLDARK CROSS DANGER: STEEL WAVE

RACE 8

TODAY’S TOP TIPS

Latitude battled well to land an Aintree bumper, but he has to give 7lb or more to the rest of the field after five months off. King Arise is interesting after winning a point-topoint and is one to watch on his first start under Rules, but the vote goes to DR SEB. An unraced 80,000-euro purchase, he looks the part on paper and may be able to make a winning debut for trainer Olly Murphy and in-form jockey Aidan Coleman. WIN: DR SEB DANGER: KING ARISE

Race Summary: MOON KING hails from a yard in good nick so this one-time useful Flat stayer is taken to make a winning return and build on his Musselburgh hurdling success when still looking inexperienced in this sphere. Silver In Disguise is another with few miles on the clock and he is feared most on the back of a wind op, with Off The Planet not ruled out either if building on his recent Warwick third.

Betting Forecast: 7-2 Dr Seb (FR), 9-2 Great d’Ange (FR), 6-1 Gentle River (GB), 13-2 Latitude (IRE), King Arise (IRE), 10-1 Cuddly Dudley (FR), 12-1 Largy Reach (GB), 22-1 Horacio Apple’s (FR), 25-1 Rockinastorm (IRE) Race Summary: The market will likely be informative in an intriguing bumper. DR SEB gets the nod if only because Olly Murphy does so well in these events. Great d’Ange is interesting on the back of an Irish point success in the spring, while Cuddly Dudley is another newcomer from a yard which knows what it takes to win bumpers. 1-2-3: 1.DR SEB (FR) 2.GREAT D’ANGE (FR) 3.CUDDLY DUDLEY (FR)
