A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN MONDAY 16 AUGUST 2021
Good Afternoon, It gives me enormous pleasure to be able to welcome you to the Bangor-on-Dee Family Fun Evening. Today, we are fortunate enough to finally be able to welcome full crowds back at Bangor-on Dee Racecourse. We’ve got 7 exciting races this afternoon that are guaranteed to thrill. Tonight’s racing begins with The Family Fun Evening’s Novice’s Hurdle (Class 4) (GBB Race) at 5:00pm. Then at 7:05pm The Wynnstay Restaurant at Bangor-on-Dee Handicap Hurdle (Class 3) 0-130 will take to the racetrack with a grand prize of £10,500. Finally, the days fun will draw to a close at 08:05pm with The Summer Raceday 24th August Handicap Chase (Class 4) 0-120. This evening we hold our much-loved Family Fun Evening, where families can gather in the spectacular backdrop of the Welsh landscape and make some unforgettable memories together. As well as crafts for the kids, we also have a range of fun activities for children to take part in, ranging from Crazy Golf to a Climbing Wall. These activities are completely free to attendees and can be found on the Bangor-on-Dee end Open Course. We next race here at Bangor-on-Dee on the 24th August. I hope you will join us then for another day’s racing.

As part of our joint commitment to each other and the communities in which we operate, all racegoers should be aware of the Code of Conduct before entering a racecourse: For your safety and the safety of others, please make sure to observe the following whilst at our Racecourse: • If you’re travelling to the racecourse via public transport, please ensure you adhere to the relevant guidance. • Do not travel to the racecourse if you have any Covid-19 symptoms as entry will be denied. • For the safety of other racegoers and racecourse staff, please consider wearing a face covering in busy indoor areas. • Regularly wash your hands, use hand sanitizer and avoid touching your face and dispose of any used tissues appropriately. • Familiarise yourself with your entry point [entry time] and location of amenities within the racecourse • Some racecourses may choose to operate a cashless event. On-course bookmakers/pool betting operators may accept cash. • Enjoy the vast amounts of space around the racecourse and avoid congregating in busy areas (for example, along the rail or by the Winning Post). • Make sure all walkways, corridors and doorways etc are clear before you walk through. • Follow all signage and the instructions of staff, officials or any emergency service personnel present at the racecourse. • Do not try to access areas of the racecourse apart the area detailed on your ticket. • Make sure other members of your group have read and understood these guidelines.

HOW TO BET WITH A
RACECOURSE BOOKMAKER
WAYS TO BET
STRAIGHT
Win only
EACH WAY
A bookmaker taking each way bets will display the terms on which he/she accepts such bets on the top of his/her board. This is a bet for your selection to win or be placed.
STANDARD TERMS FOR EACH WAY BETTING In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting. · Fewer than 5 runners – all to win · 5-7 runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2 · 8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1-2-3 · Handicaps with 12-15 runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3 · Handicaps with 16 or more runners – 1/4 odds a place 1-2-3-4
AWAY BETTING Many bookmakers will also take bets at the other race meetings today. They offer a comprehensive service, including bets settled TAX FREE at Starting Price (S.P.)
BETTING WITHOUT THE FAVOURITE At reduced odds you can back a horse and collect if it wins or runs second to the horse nominated by the bookmaker as favourite.
PLACING YOUR BET Shop around for the best odds against your selection. When you have decided on where to place your bet, state the number of your chosen horse and the stake, for example “number 4, £2 win”. Listen to the bookmaker repeat the number of the horse and the stake to his/her clerk and hand your stake to the bookmaker. You will then be given an itemised receipt that gives details of the bet and shows potential winnings. You should keep this ticket safe.
COLLECTING YOUR WINNINGS If your selection wins (or, in the case of a place bet, is placed), hand the ticket back to the bookmaker for settlement. NEVER destroy your ticket until after the “Weighed In” announcement has been made. There may still be a Stewards’ Enquiry and the first past the post, or placed horses, may be disqualified. On rare occasions even the horse coming fourth has been awarded the race. You may bet with confidence with any bookmaker as they have all been approved by the Administration of Gambling on Tracks Ltd, which administers the betting rings at each of Britain’s 60 racecourses. The AGT also offers a full late pay service, in case a bookmaker leaves the course before you have collected your winnings. Late pay claims should be sent to AGT, 3A Kings Hall,Parsons Green, St Ives, Cambridgeshire PE27 4WY. Tel: 01480 499180 In the unlikely event that no independent bookmaker turns up to service either end of the racecourse (Bangor and Overton car parks), Bangor Sport will be able to service all betting requirements. Bangor Sport will offer to either ‘take the price’ or use the SP as a means of settling any bet. We will endeavour to show all races (including all those from away courses) on screens at either end of the course. If you have any queries, please ask a member of staff for help.

OFFICIAL BHA RATINGS The BHA Handicappers allot ratings to horses once they have taken part in a sufficient number of races to enable the Handicappers to make a numerical assessment of each horse’s ability. The principal purpose of the ratings is to determine the weight to be carried by each runner in handicap races, with the Handicappers aiming to provide each participant with an equal chance based on its best recent form under its optimum conditions. A horse rated 100, for example, would be set to carry 1lb more than a horse rated 99 (ignoring any penalties or allowances). The ratings published in the racecard for handicap races are the ratings that were used to calculate the weight to be carried by each horse, whilst in non-handicaps races the rating shown is that of each runner at the time that the entries for the race were confirmed. Any subsequently published change to a rating, either up or down, is shown in brackets following the rating.

RACE 2
RACE 1
DID YOU KNOW
TODAY’S TOP TIPS Donald McCain has won the last two runnings of the Book A Wedding At BangorOn-Dee Handicap Hurdle and the local handler saddles both Cousin Oscar and Kensington Art in this year’s renewal at 6.05. FIRST STREET has displayed enough ability in his two bumper outings, finishing second on both occasions at Huntingdon and Warwick, to suggest he is capable of making a winning start to life over timber. Zulu Dawn returns from a lengthy absence having shown promise earlier on his career and he could enter the reckoning along with Zafar, a winner at Uttoxeter last time. WIN: FIRST STREET
WAR AT SEA has gone up 8lb in two outings for finishing second to the same horse at Cartmel and Perth last month. That said, this appears to be a suitable opportunity for the seven-year-old to finally gain his first career success. Authorizo ran no sort of race at Cartmel last time and is better judged on his Stratford victory the time before, while Shareef Star is capable of being in the mix based on what he has achieved over fences. WIN: WAR AT SEA
RACE 3
DANGER: ZULU DAWN
DANGER: AUTHORIZO
CHASAMAX arrives in search of a hat-trick of victories having scored on his latest start at Warwick under a penalty and Nicky Henderson’s gelding could have more to offer with his attentions now switched back to handicap company. Hurricane Ali went up 6lb for his latest hurdles success at Uttoxeter and is expected to be competitive once again, while others for the shortlist include El Borracho and Cousin Oscar.
RACE 4
DANGER: HURRICANE ALI
Unbeaten over fences, KABRIT is expected to take the beating on only his third start over the larger obstacles. The son of the late Mastercraftsman hasn’t been entirely fluent over his fences but has still been getting the job done since Nick Scholfield took over in the saddle. Double his age, Mr Mafia has been in resurgent form of late and remains 10lb below his career-high mark, while the veteran Wishfull Dreaming could also have a say.
RACE 5
WIN: CHASAMAX
DRUMLEE WATAR has been on a roll this summer and after narrowly landing the hattrick at Worcester last month, he may not be done winning just yet. Proven at the trip and on the ground, the son of Waltar may still have more to offer off a mark of 125. Catchmeifyoucan is expected to pose the biggest threat having won her last two with some authority, while Calum Gilhooley completes the shortlist on the back of a strong effort at Cartmel.
WIN: KABRIT
RACE 6
WIN: DRUMLEE WATER
DANGER: CATCHMEIFYOUCAN
TIMETOROE has performed with credit on both of her starts since joining Donald McCain, closing out her races well over shorter distances on both occasions. She may benefit from the step up in trip and is favoured ahead of the consistent Jessica Rabbit, who looks set to be suited by the drop in distance, while Shanandoa has been in good form recently and is also worthy of respect. WIN: TIMETOROE
RACE 7
DANGER: MR MAFIA
DANGER: JESSICA RABBIT
SIR TIVO has been in a rich vein of form over the past couple of months and his latest success, when winning comfortably from the front over course and distance last time, suggested that his progression is unlikely to cease any time soon. He may prove too strong for Away At Dawn, who should do better now racing on a sounder surface, while Rose Sea Has looks the best of the remainder. WIN: SIR TIVO
DANGER: AWAY AT DAWN

Race Summary: THE DALEY EXPRESS left the strong impression that his turn is again near when beaten less than a length by Bellevarde over this C&D a fortnight ago, and is taken to reverse the placings with that rival on slightly better terms. Bellevarde was subsequently turned over at Nottingham and Han Solo Berger, who has slipped to an attractive mark and returns to 0-80 company, rates the main danger. 1-2-3: 1.THE DALEY EXPRESS (IRE) 2.HAN SOLO BERGER (IRE) 3.BELLEVARDE (IRE)

However, an incident may occur which is beyond our control and it is important that you are aware of how we intend to look after you in the event of an emergency. We employ professionally trained and experienced stewards who are located predominantly around the course and are identifiable by their uniform. In the event of a situation that requires partial or full evacuation of the stands or racecourse, announcements will be broadcast and stewards will undertake the responsibility of ushering you to a place of safety; it is essential that you follow their instructions. Please take your immediate belongings with you and proceed out of the area quickly and calmly with the guidance of the stewards. The above is precautionary only and we trust that the procedures will never be required. However, in the event of an emergency, remember: • Take your belongings with you; • Under the directions of the stewards, proceed quickly and calmly to the safe area.
