Ayr Racecard - Sunday 6th July

Page 1

Welcome to Ayr Racecourse for Family Day and whether you are a first time racegoer or a seasoned racing enthusiast I hope you have an enjoyable experience with us today.

I hope all our younger visitors today enjoy their Family Day experience and make use of all the childrens’ entertainment which is free at Ayr Racecourse.

We have seven exciting races this afternoon and I’d like to thank our owners and trainers for choosing to run their horses here today their participation is very much valued. We have our very own Penelope’s Sister running in the colours of the Ayr Racecourse Club returning to the scene of her last win hopefully all of the members here today will have a fabulous time.

There is also a Mascot Race due off at 1pm and this should be a fun event particularly for our young racegoers.

Western House Hotel, which is situated just beyond the paddock, will be having its popular Sunday Roast starting at 3.30pm why don’t you pop down after last race and enjoy a family meal we also have entertainment starting at 6pm with David Galloway playing in the lounge.

We race again tomorrow and indeed every Monday in July I wish all connections the very best of luck and sincerely hope you have an enjoyable and successful day and return again in the future.

Don’t forget our next meeting...

HOW TO BET

1. Pick your Racehorse, look around for the best odds on course, try to proffer the correct stake money for your wager

It looks best to side with the progressive WOOHOO, who made it four wins from her last five starts when on target over 6f here last month. Jim Goldie’s filly does not appear to be overburdened by a further 5lb rise in the handicap and she ought to go very close. Stash The Cash and Our Absent Friends ran with credit on their most recent starts and both look set to be involved.

AYR GOLD CUP TRIAL, CLASS

3, 6F £30,000

MONDAY 21 JULY

We stage the fourth running of the Ayr Gold Cup Trial, the highlight of our card on Glasgow Fair Family Raceday on Monday 21 July which is once again generously sponsored in celebration of Fergie and Myra Happel.

The race was introduced for horses aged 3 years and upwards rated between 71-90

We think it creates the ideal platform for horses progressing through the handicap ranks and encourage them to go and run in either the Ayr Gold, Silver or Bronze Handicaps

Last years running attracted a strong field and many of the entrants went on to compete later in September with the winner of the Trial, Alfa Kellenic subsequently triumphing in the Ayr Silver Cup.

Ayr Racecourse Managing Director David Brown said “I was delighted with the third running of the Ayr Gold Cup Trial. I would hope that this year’s renewal builds on last years success and with £30,000 prize money available on a Monday afternoon, I’m sure we will see a fiercely contested race”

A stunning trophy previously run for a race named the Squadron Gallop will be held by the winning owner for a year.

Gemini Man struck over 1m1f at Hamilton last time out and, now blinkered for the first time, he merits respect from just 2lb higher. However, a chance can be taken on ANGEL OF THE BAY The son of Cable Bay has stamina to prove, but he kept on well over in a classified event over 7f here latest, suggesting this trip is well worth exploring again. Yorkshire Glory has been knocking at the door recently and he is expected to be thereabouts once more.

TODAY’S JOCKEY TO WATCH - JASON HART

Hawick-born Hart is riding at the top of his game right now and despite the multiple Group 1 jockey not having any rides at Royal Ascot last month, he still managed to ride 10 winners at different tracks over the course of the 5 day meeting, including a Saturday double here at Ayr on June 21. Champion apprentice jockey in 2013 Hart started his career with Mark Johnston at Middleham back in 2011 and a continued association with the yard has seen him ride multiple winners for Johnston’s son Charlie over the past couple of seasons. The rider is probably best known for his association with top sprinter Highfield Princess and he has 5 rides here today, including 2 for his retaining stable of John and Sean Quinn.

Jack Dace’s 7lb claim proved invaluable when The Outlaw kept all of his rivals at bay at Carlisle in May and another bold bid is forecast. However, a 6lb rise from the assessor demands more from Ralph Beckett’s colt in these deeper waters and preference is for GOOD MORNING ALEX The four-year-old was narrowly denied at the Cumbria track 11 days ago and compensation may beckon, despite a 3lb nudge in the ratings. Theoryofeverything is also noted. totewin: Good

TODAY’S TRAINER TO WATCH - IAIN JARDINE

The Jardine horses have been in fine form in recent weeks and the trainer had 7 runners across 3 different Saturday venues yesterday, including Paddy The Squire in Haydock’s Old Newton Cup. Giselles Izzy was a winner for the Carrutherstown team at our last meeting here on June 21 and Crystal Guard was a winner at Musselburgh on Tuesday ridden by stable apprentice Mo Tabti who has been catching the eye of seasoned race-watchers over the past year Iain’s Jonny Concrete was unlucky to bump into former stable companion Kat’s Bob at York a couple of weeks ago but the stable looks set for a busy and successful summer with 5 horses declared here at Ayr this afternoon.

Probable S.P’s: 9-4 Sneddy Eddie (IRE), 9-2 Weegeebear (IRE), 6-1 Kalganov (FR), 10-1 Dandy Lichious (IRE), 12-1 Darbucks (IRE), Jannas Journey (IRE), Due Respect (IRE), Ribbon Is A Dancer (IRE), 16-1 Arc Shadowfax (GB), 20-1 Cheese The One (GB), Lang Toon Lad (IRE), Causin A Commotion (IRE), 33-1 Skyler (IRE), 50-1 She’s A Goldigger (GB)

SNEDDY EDDIE exploited a handy mark to win a stronger-looking race at Gowran Park last month and could be up to brushing aside a 5lb higher in this company. Kalganov is on a long losing run but has been consistent in defeat since undergoing wind surgery earlier this year. He could also have a big say running off 21lb below his last winning rating. Jannas Journey and Weegeebear also warrants close inspection.
