HOW TO BET
1. Pick your Racehorse, look around for the best odds on course, try to proffer the correct stake money for your wager
2. Ask the Bookmaker for your bet by naming the horse. The bookmaker will repeat your bet to his clerk, correct bookmaker if he makes a mistake and receive your Betting Ticket as a receipt for your bet.
3. If your horse wins, give your Betting Ticket to the bookmaker, check your winnings.
4. Check with the bookmaker when placing a bet, the Place Terms. Place Betting, not all on course bookmakers accept each way bets, ie. for a win or a place.
5. In the unlikely event of a dispute after adhering to this procedure, the bookmaker will tell the punter to approach the Ring Official, who will advise you as to your rights.
6. Some course bookmakers have minimum stakes.e.g. £1, £5, £10 but small backers are catered for in the racecourse Betting Shops.

A pony racing man through and through, winning all the big races on the Scottish flapping circuit.
A huge lover of horses, he devoted his whole life to them after moving from a stud in Newbury to set up life north in Hawick. If anyone could have an eye for a horse or get a horse to win, Les could!
He was rewarded later in life when his beloved mare Worlass, a prolific flapper in her day, gave birth to a cracking wee filly by and beyond, there was only going to be one name of course, Worlass! She went on to win 11 races, and even done a 6 timer including winning at Ayr.
A family sport where his daughter Michelle led her up on every start, its very fitting that today we can remember a great man, and his great achievements.
