WELCOME TO AYR RACECOURSE

Welcome to the United Council of Bookmakers Raceday, our first Saturday meeting of the 2026-2027 Jumps season and which ultimately culminates with the Coral Scottish Grand National Festival on 16/17 April 2027. We’d like to start by expressing our gratitude to all the owners who have chosen to run their horses with us today, your support is truly appreciated and essential to making these racedays possible. We’d also like to extend a warm thank you to each of our valued customers for joining us your presence brings energy and excitement to the course. Racing and Bookmaking have always had a symbiotic relationship going back to the very earliest days of horse racing, the story goes that Harry Ogden in the 1790’s was the first proper bookmaker offering odds on every horse in the race and to this day that practice has endured. I’d like to thank our collaboration with the United Council of Bookmakers for their generous support this afternoon. We are also grateful to our other sponsors of todays racing BSB Structural, 3B Crane Hire and of course our great friends at SK & B Inns who are one of the most successful publicans in Scotland. Pubs are vital parts of our community, and we thank SK & B for their valued support which is much appreciated, there are a huge number of their patrons here today, and we hope you have an enjoyable day and manage to pick a winner or two. There is an exciting day’s racing in prospect with some real quality on show throughout the day with two Class 3 races and Grand National winning jockeys Derek Fox and Ryan Mania in attendance. Today’s racing also sees the inaugural beginning of our Top Trainer, Jockey and Owner championship which will culminate at the Scottish Grand National meeting next April, points are awarded for places and we will see who ultimately triumphs in April 2027. In addition to the thrilling racing action at Ayr today there are big races scheduled at Ascot and Wetherby which we’ll be featuring in the programme to keep you updated and engaged. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the team here at Ayr for their dedication and hard work which go a long way to ensuring the success of days like these. Finally, after the final race we have entertainment with Ventura in the Princess Royal stand for three hours after racing.

David Brown Managing Director

Don’t forget our next meeting... WEDNESDAY 11TH NOVEMBER CORAL RACEDAY We look forward to welcoming you back!

TODAY’S TRAINER TO WATCH LUCINDA RUSSELL AND MICHAEL SCUDAMORE

Scotland’s biggest jumps yard has made a fantastic start to the core jumping season with 9 winners and 6 seconds from 37 finishers in the 15 days before yesterday’s 3 runners at Wetherby. The Milnathort stable’s key horses like Traprain Law (2nd at Cheltenham), Myretown (winner at Kelso) and Derryhassen Paddy (3rd at Cheltenham) have all made excellent returns to action but the stable looks to have recruited well for the new campaign and there should be plenty of winners to go around for the yard’s two main riders, Derek Fox and Patrick Wadge, as well as an assortment of claiming conditionals and amateur riders. Russell’s figures on her own here still top the standings at Ayr over the past 5 seasons, with 50 winners from 275 runners showing an 18% strike-rate before the training partnership with Michael Scudamore became official.

DIDNTGOTWENTY hasn’t looked back since fitted with cheekpieces and he gets a confident vote to resume winning ways with the form of his excellent reappearance Perth second having been boosted by the wide-margin win of the third. Torosay came home second in this 12 months ago and could again fill the same spot, while chasing newcomer The Grey Venture, an Irish points winner, also needs considering.

TODAY’S JOCKEY TO WATCH -TRISTAN DURRELL Last season’s Champion Conditional Jockey will be having his first rides here at Ayr today but his profile has risen significantly in the past few seasons, principally as second jockey to the all-conquering current Champion Trainer, Dan Skelton. Durrell won last season’s Conditional title with his 47 winners including Panic Attack in the Coral Gold Cup at Newbury, a horse trained by Skelton, for whom Durrell arrived to work as a 16 year-old stable-lad, 8 years previously. The jockey’s 47 winners from 289 rides was a huge step forward from his previous totals of 14, 16, 11 and 12 and with Dan Skelton going all out to break every record possible this season, we can probably expect to see a lot more of Tristan after his ides for the Skelton team get underway on course bumper winner The Skecher in our opening novices’ hurdle at 12.43.

Probable S.P’s: 4-1 Bollin Matilda (GB), 5-1 Ck O’Mara (IRE), 8-1 Junior des Mottes (FR), 9-1 Maura Jeanne (GB), 10-1 Coventry (IRE), Anamanda (FR), 11-1 Better Be Definite (GB), 14-1 Secret Secret (IRE), Melbourne Ghost (IRE), 22-1 Reagrove Lord (IRE), 66-1 Bray Dale (GB), Run Baby Run (IRE)

C&D winner CK O’MARA remains completely unexposed as a stayer and proved his effectiveness away from the mud when fourth at Perth when last seen in April. There ought to be more to come from Mike Smith’s 5-y-o this season and he earns the vote. Likeable mare Bollin Matilda, Coventry (back up in trip) and Anamanda are a trio of others to consider.

TIMEFORM PREDICTION: 1.CK O’MARA (IRE) 2.BOLLIN MATILDA 3.COVENTRY (IRE)

HORSE CARE AT AYR At every race meeting at Ayr there are three specially qualified equine vets appointed to look after the welfare of all horses in action.

MOBILE TELEPHONES & RADIOS The use of mobile telephones is not permitted except by permission of the Clerk of the Course. Bookmakers who have paid the appropriate fee may also use mobile telephones. In addition the use of any transmitting or receiving device, other than the official racecourse, Tote or Police service is prohibited.

During a race two vets follow the action from the centre of the course and can attend a casualty in the same response time as the Medical Teams responsible for the welfare of the Jockeys.

SMOKING Ayr Racecourse adheres to the government’s National No Smoking Policy. All indoor areas are No Smoking Zones. Those wishing to smoke may do so in the designated areas outside.

The third vet is based at the Stable Yard where a close check is kept on all horses especially those returning after a race. MEDIA COVERAGE & RECORDING FOR PROMOTIONAL PURPOSES All Attendees (which for the purposes of this clause also includes horses and for the avoidance of any doubt includes families with children) are reminded that many races and fixtures are given coverage on television, radio and in print and various other forms of media. By entering the Racecourse Attendees are accepting they may appear in such coverage which may also include printed or electronic material used for the promotion of the Racecourse.

USE OF SCREENS It is now standard practice for screens to be erected around any horse receiving veterinary attention on the ground. This does not reflect on the severity of an injury, but allows the vet some privacy and the horse the opportunity in a calm environment, in which to make a recovery. Please do not assume the worst if you see screens erected around a fallen horse! For equine care provided at Ayr see under officials at the back of this card.

Accordingly, Attendees shall have no right to object to their inclusion in any much coverage whether produced by the Racecourse or by third parties authorised by the Racecourse. Furthermore by entering the Racecourse each Attendee consents to the passing of still or moving images of them to third parties authorised by the Racecourse for the purposes of the production of printed or electronic material to be used solely for the Promotion of the Racecourse.

FULL TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY You can view a full list of our terms and conditions of entry as well as lots of other useful information on our website, simply use the QR code or visit www.ayr-racecourse.co.uk

Each Attendee will give any additional consents or waivers required for the unrestricted lawful use of any coverage (if any) without request for payment or imposing any other conditions. 45
