9 Form guide 10 Age 11 Weight 12 Stalls Position

Included in the form guide below each horse is a form rating, calculated from the horse’s previous performances, taking into account a number of variables such as finishing position, distance won/beaten by, horses beaten/beaten by, weight carried, race time (compared with the standard time), going allowance, number of days since that performance, etc.

Horses which have not raced will not have a form rating, as may some horses which have raced but not recently in Britain or their performances to-date have not yet merited a rating.

HOW TO BET

1. Pick your Racehorse, look around for the best odds on course, try to proffer the correct stake money for your wager

2. Ask the Bookmaker for your bet by naming the horse. The bookmaker will repeat your bet to his clerk, correct bookmaker if he makes a mistake and receive your Betting Ticket as a receipt for your bet.

3. If your horse wins, give your Betting Ticket to the bookmaker, check your winnings.

4. Check with the bookmaker when placing a bet, the Place Terms. Place Betting, not all on course bookmakers accept each way bets, ie. for a win or a place.

5. In the unlikely event of a dispute after adhering to this procedure, the bookmaker will tell the punter to approach the Ring Official, who will advise you as to your rights.

6. Some course bookmakers have minimum stakes.e.g. £1, £5, £10 but small backers are catered for in the racecourse Betting Shops.

EACH WAY BETTING

In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting.

• Fewer than 3 runners - all on to win

• 3 or 4 runners – 1/5 odds a place 1,2

• 5 – 7 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1,2

• 8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1,2,3

• Handicaps with 12 to 15 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1,2,3

• Handicaps with 16 to 21 runners (inclusive) – 1/5 odds a place 1,2,3,4

• Handicaps with 22 or more runners – 1/4 odds a place 1,2,3,4

Karl Burke has enjoyed another fine season with his youngsters so far and HALF SOVEREIGN could enhance that record further. The daughter of Ten Sovereigns did plenty wrong on her debut at Redcar, but she hit the line strongly to pick up fourth in the closing stages. Stepping up to seven furlongs looks certain to suit and she’s expected to take the necessary step forward. The Caddy Master is another that appears likely to benefit from a rise in distance, while Folk Pageant appeals most of the newcomers. totewin: Half Sovereign toteeachway: The Caddy Master

ABDUCTION ended a barren spell when successful in this grade at Hamilton last time. Jim Goldie’s charge remains on a winning mark, despite a 4lb rise, and can launch another bold bid with the underfoot conditions remaining in his favour. Orbital Chime will also appreciate any ease in the ground as he looks to build on a recent third at the track, while Aberama Gold ran well off a much higher mark here last summer and could bounce back at any time. totewin: Abduction toteeachway: Orbital Chime

ONE NIGHT THUNDER: Following its run on 9/6/2025 it was reported that the horse was denied a clear run.

A recent winner at Chester, Arabian Cobra arrives in fine form, but the three-year-old takes on older sprinters on this occasion and ONE NIGHT THUNDER is marginally preferred. Gemma Tutty’s inmate could only finish sixth at Pontefract last time, but that effort can be marked up given he ran into a wall of horses in the closing stages, and he looks one to keep on the right side of. Lion’s House remains unexposed and is another to note. totewin: One Night Thunder toteeachway: Arabian Cobra

TODAY’S JOCKEY TO WATCH - JOANNA MASON

Joanna was one of the busiest riders at Carlisle’s female jockeys only meeting on Saturday night with 6 mounts on the Cumbrian card and she was here at Ayr for 2 rides yesterday before returning today for another SIX. The former amateur’s strike-rate here at Ayr is an excellent 16% compared to 10% overall and while she mainly rides for the family “firm” of grandpa Mick and Uncle David Easterby the jockey is always in demand for plenty of outside rides. Today’s mounts include 2 for Mick and David, 2 for Galashiels handler Katie Scott, 1 for Newmarket raider Ed Dunlop and 1 for the other side of the Easterby family Tim.

16% SUCCESS RATE AT AYR OVER THE LAST 5 YEARS 10 WINS FROM 64 RIDES

TODAY’S TRAINER TO WATCH - TIM EASTERBY

The Easterby family recently lost Tim’s legendary dad Peter who passed away after a long retirement following his fantastic career as a dual purpose trainer but the training business has continued as Peter would have expected and Tim’s excellent season has been a feature of the northern racing scene. Along with main jockeys David Allan, Sean Kirrrane and the fit-again veteran Duran Fentiman, Easterby has been striking at a healthy 10% overall this season, a rate which improves to 13% over the past fortnight. The yard has had 31 Flat winners here at Ayr over the past 5 years and is second only to Jim Goldie here this season but everything points to plenty more winners to come and the trainer has 7 runners on today’s card before 6 more at Ripon this evening.

There was cut in the ground when UNICO finished an encouraging second at Goodwood last month. Chris Gordon’s filly has eased in the weights since her last success and looks up to carrying top weight to victory in this lower grade. Crocodile Power also faces an easier assignment than when runner-up at Catterick in May and he can have a say in the outcome, while Newcastle third Cuban Storm returns to the turf with a shout off his current mark. totewin: Unico

Harswell Duke has filled the runner-up spot in two of his last three starts in class 5 handicaps and will appreciate this drop in grade. Trais Fluors showed more when third over 7f here in May, but the vote goes to EY UP ITS JAZZ. The six-year-old faded into third when attempting to make all at Carlisle last month and the assessor may have been kind to leave his mark alone. With a similar effort, he could be the one to beat.
