9 Form guide 10 Age 11 Weight 12 Stalls Position

Included in the form guide below each horse is a form rating, calculated from the horse’s previous performances, taking into account a number of variables such as finishing position, distance won/beaten by, horses beaten/beaten by, weight carried, race time (compared with the standard time), going allowance, number of days since that performance, etc.

Horses which have not raced will not have a form rating, as may some horses which have raced but not recently in Britain or their performances to-date have not yet merited a rating.

HOW TO BET

1. Pick your Racehorse, look around for the best odds on course, try to proffer the correct stake money for your wager

2. Ask the Bookmaker for your bet by naming the horse. The bookmaker will repeat your bet to his clerk, correct bookmaker if he makes a mistake and receive your Betting Ticket as a receipt for your bet.

3. If your horse wins, give your Betting Ticket to the bookmaker, check your winnings.

4. Check with the bookmaker when placing a bet, the Place Terms. Place Betting, not all on course bookmakers accept each way bets, ie. for a win or a place.

5. In the unlikely event of a dispute after adhering to this procedure, the bookmaker will tell the punter to approach the Ring Official, who will advise you as to your rights.

6. Some course bookmakers have minimum stakes.e.g. £1, £5, £10 but small backers are catered for in the racecourse Betting Shops.

EACH WAY BETTING

In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting.

• Fewer than 3 runners - all on to win

• 3 or 4 runners – 1/5 odds a place 1,2

• 5 – 7 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1,2

• 8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1,2,3

• Handicaps with 12 to 15 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1,2,3

• Handicaps with 16 to 21 runners (inclusive) – 1/5 odds a place 1,2,3,4

• Handicaps with 22 or more runners – 1/4 odds a place 1,2,3,4

All bookmakers must display on their boards whether they are betting each way or to win only

Welcome to Ayr Racecourse for our Glasgow Fair Family Raceday

Whether you are a first time racegoer or a seasoned racing enthusiast, I hope you have an enjoyable experience with us today

I’d like to thank our owners and trainers for choosing to run their horses here today and I wish all connections the very best of luck, their participation is much valued.

We have a huge variety of attractions for all the family to participate in from face painting to dinosaur shows hopefully there is something for everyone and remember to look out for the Mascot race.

We also have the Ayr Racecourse Racing Club horses running today Penelope’s Sister and Sophiesticate hot on the back of a win and a second place last Monday hopefully they can run as well today

We also of course have the Ayr Gold Cup Trial today which is now demonstrating a real pathway and insight into the Ayr Gold Cup in September, last year’s winner of this trial Alfa Kellenic went on to secure victory in the Silver Cup. Today’s race should be equally as hot and £30000 prize money on a Monday is well worth winning.

Looking forward to August 9th our feature Saturday evening is our Sounds of Summer racenight and we have top racing action together with 90’s sensation N Trance playing live after racing together with Bandioke where you get the opportunity to sing live with a real band, its one to be at

Finally thank you to all of the equine stars on show today together with the stable staff who attend to them there would be no raceday without them.

I wish you and a safe journey home and hope to see you back at Ayr soon.

South Road sprung a surprise when scoring at odds of 40-1 over C&D a fortnight ago and the unexposed Kodiac filly merits respect from 3lb higher, as does recent Hamilton victor Sixcor, who must shoulder a 4lb penalty. However, a chance can be taken on DANZAN. The 10-year-old hasn’t won for a while now but there have been some promising signs so far this season. Dropped into a class 6 for the first time in his career, he could represent some value.

TODAY’S TRAINER TO WATCH - JIM GOLDIE

The reigning Ayr champion trainer can do little wrong at the moment and as well as (once again) heading our rankings for 2025 going into today’s meeting, the Uplawmoor handler reached a notable landmark at Hamilton on Friday night. Jim went into the Glasgow Stakes fixture on 997 winners on the Flat, after reaching 1000 winners overall with Call Me Ginger’s win here at Ayr back in June 2022, and a treble on the night gave him the magic 1000 winners on the level. Spanish Hustle, Classy Al and Inanna were the 3 horses to take Goldie on to his latest career landmark and Jim saddles 11 runners on today’s card in a bid to get the second thousand winners underway

Jim Goldie boasts a strong hand with Jannas Journey and SPUN TO GOLD, both of whom must shoulder penalties having been successful on their latest starts. The latter, though, was able to exploit a sliding handicap mark when scoring over C&D last Monday and further success may well be on the cards. Clasina finished a length in behind the selection that day having been sent off as favourite and she could close the gap on these revised terms.

Wicket Keeper boasts an appealing profile after making it two wins out of three career starts at Doncaster last month and is an interesting contender off an opening mark of 90. Fivethousandtoone just did enough at Newcastle and will be looking to transfer that form to turf. However, the vote goes to MONSIEUR KODI. Richard Fahey’s charge is a previous C&D winner who got back to winning ways at Hamilton recently and is just 2lb higher. With Oisin Orr back on board, he looks the way to go.

Penelope’s Sister made every yard of the running to score over track and trip last week and should mount a bold bid, despite her 5lb penalty. However, BOWOOD showed more when making the frame at Doncaster last month and goes off an unchanged rating. If the five-year-old remains in similar form, he could be the one to beat. Forest Caper completes the shortlist.

SPARTAN TIMES is in the form of his life at present and a 10lb rise for his most recent success at Ffos Las looks manageable as he aims to bring up the hat-trick. Conditions seem to be in his favour again and the four-year-old is preferred to Newcastle scorer Wyld Bill, who has a 3lb rise to overcome for that success. Falcon Nine and Sophiesticate are capable of being in the shake-up as well.

This can go the way of AZUINTHEJUNGLE, who always looked in control when scoring at Kempton earlier in the month, are returning to turf should not inconvenience as he looks to land the hat-trick. Back to form with a highly creditable third at Newcastle most recently, Invincible Annice must enter calculations, along with Atomic Mass, who aims to bounce back to the form that saw him score at Wetherby in June.
