8 Form guide
9 Age
10 Weight
Included in the form guide below each horse is a form rating, calculated from the horse’s previous performances, taking into account a number of variables such as finishing position, distance won/beaten by, horses beaten/beaten by weight carried, race time (compared with the standard time) going allowance, number of days since that performance, etc.
Horses which have not raced will not have a form rating, as may some horses which have raced but not recently in Britain or their performances to-date have not yet merited a rating.
HOW TO BET
1. Pick your Racehorse, look around for the best odds on course, try to proffer the correct stake money for your wager
2. Ask the Bookmaker for your bet by naming the horse. The bookmaker will repeat your bet to his clerk, correct bookmaker if he makes a mistake and receive your Betting Ticket as a receipt for your bet.
3. If your horse wins, give your Betting Ticket to the bookmaker, check your winnings.
4. Check with the bookmaker when placing a bet, the Place Terms. Place Betting, not all on course bookmakers accept each way bets, ie. for a win or a place.
5. In the unlikely event of a dispute after adhering to this procedure, the bookmaker will tell the punter to approach the Ring Official, who will advise you as to your rights.
6. Some course bookmakers have minimum stakes.e.g. £1, £5, £10 but small backers are catered for in the racecourse Betting Shops.
EACH WAY BETTING
In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting.
• Fewer than 3 runners - all on to win
• 3 or 4 runners – 1/5 odds a place 1,2
• 5 – 7 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1,2
• 8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1,2,3
• Handicaps with 12 to 15 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1,2,3
• Handicaps with 16 to 21 runners (inclusive) – 1/5 odds a place 1,2,3,4
• Handicaps with 22 or more runners – 1/4 odds a place 1,2,3,4
All bookmakers must display on their boards whether they are betting each way or to win only
Welcome to the final race meeting of 2024.
We’d like to start by expressing our gratitude to all the owners who have chosen to run their horses with us today, in what has been unseasonally mild weather, your support is truly appreciated and essential to making these racedays possible. We’d also like to extend a warm thank you to each of our valued customers for joining us your presence brings energy and excitement to the course.
As the season shifts, this will be the final Autumn menu in Silks cafe featuring hearty, seasonal favourites to keep you warm. I highly recommend the pumpkin soup.
Our feature race of the day the “Virgin Bet Daily Extra Places Handicap Chase” is sure to be highly competitive with Nicky Alexander, Nicky Richards and Ben Haslam all looking to prevail with their runners
I’d like to thank Virgin Bet and LiveScore for their continued support of the course.
I should also wish to take this opportunity to thank the team here at Ayr for their dedication and hard work which go a long way to ensuring the success of days like these
Looking ahead to 2025 we have our feature raceday on January 2, in addition to top racing we will have the McDonald Brothers entertaining us during the day together with top prizes to be won including a fabulous trip to Rome.
Finally, after the final race we have entertainment with Scot Nicol playing in Western House between 5pm and 8pm.

Step Out has something to prove after his recent fifth-placed defeat in a novice hurdle here and a switch to chasing will hopefully perk his interest. Fellow chase debutant Kandor may appreciate a return to this distance and the five-year-old isn’t taken lightly. However, IMMORTAL FAME arrives on the back of a solid second to a progressive rival over fences at Bangor and he could put his chase experience to good use.

The jockey had a winner at Fontwell on Friday after successes at Uttoxeter and Newcastle the week before and top-weight Ilikedthewayurthinkin would appear to be his best chance today in the 4-runner 3-miles handicap chase at 1.45 The JP McManus owned gelding was a highly-rated youngster with Gavin Cromwell in Ireland but he’s won two chases at Cartmel under McLernon this summer and looks sure to be suited by today’s good ground.

Sandy was back in the winners’ enclosure at Kelso on Saturday with the Ray Green owned Gold Des Bois which became the well-known Scottish racing supporter’s 500th winner in all guises, all the way through from point-to-points to his dual Scottish Grand National winner Merigo. The trainer’s had a few cracks at the Scottish Grand National himself with one of his best-known horses, Seeyouatmidnight, finishing third to Vicente back in 2016 Yorkhill and Harrytheviking have been other stable stars over the years and the trainer looks to have plenty of young horses to ensure another successful season as he looks to build on his current total of 11 winners since the new campaign started in April.

The hat-trick seeking Balranald must enter calculations in his current mood and a 4lb rise in the ratings for his recent triumph at Newcastle looks more than fair. However, SUMMERGROUNDS’ third behind two subsequent winners at Kelso last month couldn’t have worked out any better and Nicky Richards’ gelding shades the verdict. Bathgate is unlikely to be far away if reproducing his latest runner-up effort over C&D.

This may prove a good opportunity for ILIKEDWAYURTHINKIN to return to winning ways. Ben Haslam’s charge was thwarted in his hat-trick bid when finishing third at Cartmel in August but, easing in trip off an unchanged mark, he gets the nod ahead of Artic Row Nick Alexander’s gelding didn’t get further than the first on his seasonal reappearance at Hexham, but he boasts form figures of 91111 at this venue and must enter calculations. No Regrets is also noteworthy. totewin:

Fourofakind lost little in defeat when finishing fourth over 2m4f at Carlisle earlier this month and, with his sights lowered off an unchanged mark, he warrants the utmost respect. That said, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED edges preference. He fairly bolted up over an extended 2m5f at Ludlow last month and, making his handicap debut for the in-form Dianne Sayer team, he looks the one to side with. Fellow last-time-out winner Kilbrainy is respected most of the remainder.

CASTLE CARROCK is out of a bumper winner and is a close relation to a useful chase winner. This looks a good starting point and he rates the one to side with first time up for the in-form Nicky Richards yard. Runner-up on her only point-to-point start, Shes All Pride commands respect on her Rules debut, while Wild Reiver and Glenville are a couple of others to consider. totewin: Castle Carrock
