Welcome to Ayr Racecourse for our Summer Sizzler Raceday, the first of four consecutive Monday meetings here in July.
Whether you are a first time racegoer or a seasoned racing enthusiast, I hope you have an enjoyable experience with us today
We have two Class 3 contests this afternoon, one over the 6 furlong sprint course, the JKR Industrial Cleaning Handicap Stakes and at the other extreme the Dream Weddings at Western House Handicap Stakes a 1 mile 5 furlong test of both speed and stamina.
Looking ahead we are delighted to host the Scottish Sun Ladies Night on Saturday 10 August where we have the fabulous Pussycat Doll Kimberley Wyatt here for an amazing DJ set.
I’d like to thank our owners and trainers for choosing to run their horses here today and I wish all connections the very best of luck and sincerely hope you have a successful day and return again in the future.
I would also like to thank our racegoers for attending today I wish you too a safe journey home and hope to see you back at Ayr soon.

9 Form guide 10 Age 11 Weight 12 Stalls Position
Included in the form guide below each horse is a form rating, calculated from the horse’s previous performances, taking into account a number of variables such as finishing position, distance won/beaten by, horses beaten/beaten by, weight carried, race time (compared with the standard time), going allowance, number of days since that performance, etc.
Horses which have not raced will not have a form rating, as may some horses which have raced but not recently in Britain or their performances to-date have not yet merited a rating.

HOW TO BET
1. Pick your Racehorse, look around for the best odds on course, try to proffer the correct stake money for your wager
2. Ask the Bookmaker for your bet by naming the horse. The bookmaker will repeat your bet to his clerk, correct bookmaker if he makes a mistake and receive your Betting Ticket as a receipt for your bet.
3. If your horse wins, give your Betting Ticket to the bookmaker, check your winnings.
4. Check with the bookmaker when placing a bet, the Place Terms. Place Betting, not all on course bookmakers accept each way bets, ie. for a win or a place.
5. In the unlikely event of a dispute after adhering to this procedure, the bookmaker will tell the punter to approach the Ring Official, who will advise you as to your rights.
6. Some course bookmakers have minimum stakes.e.g. £1, £5, £10 but small backers are catered for in the racecourse Betting Shops.
EACH WAY BETTING
In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting.

• 3 or 4 runners – 1/5 odds a place 1,2
• 5 – 7 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1,2

A chance can be taken on WATTANI, who changed hands for 34,000gns and the son of Starspandledbanner has a speedy pedigree. He is related to a few winners and goes for the in-form Alice Haynes stable, so he just shades the vote. Chuti Manika is another with a promising pedigree and would be foolish to dismiss on his first start. Any market support behind Impartiality should also be noted.

TODAY’S JOCKEY TO WATCH - KIERAN O’NEILL
Lightweight jockey O’Neill is back at Ayr for 2 rides today after 4 on the track yesterday and it’s no surprise to see him back in action here in Ayrshire after his double for trainer Alice Haynes here in June. O’Neill’s weight means he’s one of the busiest jockeys in the weighing room at some of the country’s smaller tracks and before riding at Leicester (Saturday) and Ayr (Sunday) this weekend and his 38 winners from 365 rides for a 10% strike rate tells its own story Haynes remains the jockey’s biggest employer but outside rides have been increasing and he’s already ridden winners for Saeed Bin Suroor and John and Thady Gosden this year 40%
TODAY’S TRAINER TO WATCH - ALICE HAYNES
Newmarket based Haynes hit new heights with a Listed winner in Italy in May and she’s really made her mark with the few runners she’s sent to Ayr so far with the in-form trainer landing a double with Pop Star and Big Cyril on her last visit here in June before saddling another 3 runners on yesterday’s card. Today’s Haynes raiders are unraced juvenile Wattani in the opening Restricted Novice Stakes at 2.20 and Rich Harry in the 10 furlongs handicap at 3.30 and the trainer looks to be in great form as she readies her impressive Ayr winner Big Cyril for his biggest challenge yet in the Group 2 July Stakes at Newmarket on Thursday

4TH TIME
Winter Crown was just touched off when second at Hamilton last month and he should remain competitive off an unchanged mark. However, the vote goes to BE PROUD, who beat The Caltonian (second) and Classy Al (third) when scoring by a length over track and trip on his latest outing and he is only 3lb higher for that victory. Jim Goldie’s eight-year-old can take this step up in his stride and record a double. Slainte Mhath completes the shortlist.

Berry Edge accounted for Highwaygrey (second) and We Still Believe (third) over 1m1f at Carlisle last month and he can confirm that form off a 3lb higher mark. However, RACING VICAR hit the crossbar over a mile here on his penultimate start. The son of Make Believe takes a step up in trip on his handicap bow and can defy his opening mark of 64. Glasses Up is a seven-time course winner and is another to note.

AYR GOLD CUP TRIAL,
CLASS 3, 6F £30,000
MONDAY JULY 15
We stage the third running of the Ayr Gold Cup Trial, the highlight of our card on Glasgow Fair Family Day on Monday 15 July, and this year generously sponsored in celebration of Fergie and Myra Happel.
The race was introduced for horses aged 3 years and upwards rated between 71 – 90.
We think it creates the ideal platform for horses progressing through the handicap ranks and encourage them to go on and run in either the Virgin Bet Ayr Gold, Silver or Bronze Handicaps.
Last years running attracted a strong field of 16 and many of the entrants went on to compete later in September with Tinto, trained by Michael Dodds achieving 2nd in the Ayr Silver Cup and Jordan Electrics trained by Jim Goldie finishing 3rd in the Bronze Cup.
Ayr Racecourse Managing Director David Brown said “I was delighted with the second running of the Ayr Gold Cup Trial. It was a super competitive race with many of the runners going on to contest the Ayr Bronze, Silver and Gold Cups.
“I would hope that this year’s renewal builds on last years success and with £30,000 prize money available on a Monday afternoon I’m sure we will see a fiercely contested race.”
A stunning trophy previously run for a race named the Squadron Gallop will be held by the winning owner for a year.

It could pay to stick with last month’s Hamilton winner THAKI, given he was scoring off a 4lb higher rating over course and distance last autumn. Atomise has been threatening a return to winning ways and placed again when runner-up at Carlisle, while Pembrokeshire found one too good over 7f at Musselburgh last week and can also figure. Eternal Sunshine won a classified stakes at Thirsk latest, but will find this tougher. totewin: Thaki
