We hold our first Evening Flat fixture of 2024 today, featuring six races. I’d like to thank our owners and trainers for choosing to run their horses here. Our feature race tonight is the Unite Raceday with Martin Kemp 6f Handicap, and there may very well be a future Gold, Silver or Bronze Cup runner within this field.

Included in the form guide below each horse is a form rating, calculated from the horse’s previous performances, taking into account a number of variables such as finishing position, distance won/beaten by, horses beaten/beaten by, weight carried, race time (compared with the standard time), going allowance, number of days since that performance, etc.

Horses which have not raced will not have a form rating, as may some horses which have raced but not recently in Britain or their performances to-date have not yet merited a rating.

HOW TO BET

1. Pick your Racehorse, look around for the best odds on course, try to proffer the correct stake money for your wager

2. Ask the Bookmaker for your bet by naming the horse. The bookmaker will repeat your bet to his clerk, correct bookmaker if he makes a mistake and receive your Betting Ticket as a receipt for your bet.

3. If your horse wins, give your Betting Ticket to the bookmaker, check your winnings.

4. Check with the bookmaker when placing a bet, the Place Terms. Place Betting, not all on course bookmakers accept each way bets, ie. for a win or a place.

5. In the unlikely event of a dispute after adhering to this procedure, the bookmaker will tell the punter to approach the Ring Official, who will advise you as to your rights.

6. Some course bookmakers have minimum stakes.e.g. £1, £5, £10 but small backers are catered for in the racecourse Betting Shops.

Rawaasi proved costly to follow last season, but she has the potential to be better as a three-year-old and appeals as a solid contender. Mostar Dreams, who has reached the frame on both of her starts to date, should give another good account of herself. However, Karl Burke’s MELON TWIST is related to a host of useful types and given her trainer’s record in these types of races, it would come as no surprise were she to make an immediate impact.

It might be worth taking a chance on JUMEIRA VISION, who was far from disgraced over the extended mile at Wolverhampton on his stable debut in February. Katie Scott’s new recruit has few miles on the clock and is completely unexposed on turf, while the return to further could also aid his prospects. Shifter broke awkwardly and lost all chance early on at Musselburgh, but she could have a say if able to get away on terms. Reel Prospect is another to consider.

The Jardine yard is a year round operation with Flat runners on the turf and all-weather as well as plenty of horses competing over jumps. The Carrutherstown team is well represented here at Ayr tonight as usual and the busy yard made a good start to Ayr’s season with subsequent hat-trick scorer Catherine Chroi notching the first of her recent 3 successes on our opening Flat card on April 29 Catherine Chroi won under new stable apprentice Mohammed Tabti that day and the young rider was back on board at Leicester on Saturday night as the horse made it 3 in a row following success under Andrew Mullen at Hamilton in between.

Andrew has made a fine recovery from a broken collar bone sustained when brought down on Anthem National at Newcastle on March 3 and the jockey filled a couple of runner-up spots at our last meeting on May 2 before going on to ride a double at Hamilton a few days later “Midge” rides mainly for trainer Iain Jardine but he continues to pick up plenty of outside rides and 2 mounts for Charlie Johnston last week suggested he’s about to resume a winning relationship with a yard which needs plenty of riders for its usual plethora of runners over the summer months. Ironically, one of the horses involved in Andrew’s Newcastle accident, The Caltonian, makes its comeback tonight at 7.30
