TOP TRAINERS TOP JOCKEYS

KATIE SCOTT

17% S U C C E S S RA T E AYR RECORD LAST 5 YEARS

12 WINS FROM 72 RUNNERS

The Galashiels trainer sent stable favourite Gweedore south to become her first winner from her first runner at Newmarket last Saturday and Katie was on hand at Ayr to complete an across the cards double the same night with Thaki for owners Ursa Major Racing. Scott went close to making it a treble on the day when her juvenile Curious Rover was just touched off in the maiden and she runs Sacred Falls in tonight’s 6.42

LINDA PERRATT

5% S U C C E S S RA T E AYR RECORD LAST 5 YEARS

13 WINS FROM 275 RUNNERS

The Jackton yard had been knocking on the door before Retirement Beckons got the team back to winning form here 10 days ago and the former Ayr trainer made it 3 winners in 5 days when Nazca won at Chelmsford and Judgement Call scored at Musselburgh the same week. Linda saddled The Caltonian to be a good third at our last meeting here on Saturday night and tonight’s runners include last week’s Musselburgh winner Judgement Call at 7.42

IAIN JARDINE

13% S U C C E S S RA T E AYR RECORD LAST 5 YEARS

43 WINS FROM 342 RUNNERS

Iain’s Carrutherstown stables have been turning out winners consistently all summer so far and the yard had yet another double at Ayr on Saturday night when Wee Fat Mac and Innse Gall landed the first two races for apprentices Archie Young and Aiden Brookes. Stable jockey Andrew Mullen is having a tremendous season as well and both Novak (7.42) and JKR Cobbler (8.12) are chasing 4-timers for the Jardine yard here this evening.

PAUL MULRENNAN

16% S U C C E S S RA T E AYR RECORD LAST 5 YEARS

57 WINS FROM 351 RIDES

Paul is the reigning champion jockey here at Ayr and he’s currently chasing Joe Fanning in the race to become top rider for 2023 with tonight’s meeting being the last chance to ride a winner at Ayr before next month’s Virgin Bet Ayr Gold Cup Festival. Paul has 5 rides this evening, with two for Jim Goldie and one each for Sir Mark Prescott, Linda Perratt and Donald McCain.

HOLLIE DOYLE

21% S U C C E S S RA T E AYR RECORD LAST 5 YEARS

6 WINS FROM 29 RIDES

Hollie’s double at Windsor on Monday came 2 days after helping the Ladies’ team win Saturday’s Shergar Cup at Ascot with successes on Regal Empire and The Very Man contributing to the winning team’s total. The rider tends to do well on her trips north to Ayr and she rides 3 horses tonight after riding at Salisbury yesterday with two mounts for Archie Watson and one for Charlie Hills.

ANDREW MULLEN

13% SU CC ES S RA T E

AYR RECORD LAST 5 YEARS

32 WINS FROM 252 RIDES

“Midge” rarely leaves Ayr without a winner these days and success on Cabinet Maker in the last race on Saturday kept his excellent run going as he added to two seconds and two thirds earlier on the card. Mullen goes for a course 4-timer on JKR Cobbler in tonight’s mile handicap at 8.12 after riding the 4 year-old to each of his 3 earlier track wins over 7 furlongs.

LEADERBOARDS

Andrew Mullen was the biggest mover in the jockeys’ championship race at our Scottish Sun Ladies’ Night on Saturday with a last-race winning ride on Cabinet Maker adding to his two earlier seconds and a third. Current table-topper Joe Fanning was off riding at Haydock but Paul Mulrennan closed the gap on the leader to 4 points with a third place on Ayr Poet with Mullen now snapping at their heels in third place.

Iain Jardine added 9 points to his trainers’ title total to move on to 67 for the season but leader Jim Goldie is showing little sign of slowing up in his quest to retain the championship here at Ayr and two seconds and a third kept his tally ticking over and well ahead of the rest. Mike Smith’s latest winner with Black Friday moved him up to third and it was a good night for Katie Scott with a winner and a second.

No change at the top of the owners’ title race but Ayr Poet’s third place moved the Reluctant Suitors up into a clear 4th place and just a point off the three jointleaders.

Not beaten far over C&D last time out, VORTIGAN has shown enough in recent starts to suggest that he can finally break the maiden at the 10th time of asking. Michael Dods’ charge is narrowly preferred to the capable Rwenearlytheredad and American Affair, who bounced back to form with a strong runner-up effort over C&D last month. The unexposed Labiqa is another to note for market support on her handicap bow.

NOVAK secured a staying-on victory over 6f at this track in June and the nature of that win left a strong impression that he can land a four-timer now returned to 7f. Although he is now rated 3lb higher for that latest success, he remains on an upward curve and there could be more to come. Judgment Call has to shoulder a 5lb penalty following a facile win at Musselburgh earlier this month but is still feared most, ahead of Ascot Adventure totewin: Novak

TREMENDOUS TIMES was able to race more amenably than he did at Haydock in June when narrowly denied at Carlisle last time out. This represents a good opportunity for the son of Time Test to open his account, though Sea In The Dark, who bumped into a major improver at Thirsk in May, ought to throw down a stern challenge. My Harrison George wasn’t disgraced over 1m at York last month and he merits consideration now returned to further.

FORM RATINGS

Included in the form guide below each horse is a form rating, calculated from the horse’s previous performances, taking into account a number of variables such as finishing position, distance won/beaten by, horses beaten/beaten by, weight carried, race time (compared with the standard time), going allowance, number of days since that performance, etc.

Horses which have not raced will not have a form rating, as may some horses which have raced but not recently in Britain or their performances to-date have not yet merited a rating.

Brando was the winner of the Ayr Gold Cup on Saturday, 17th September, 2016.

HOW TO BET

1. Pick your Racehorse, look around for the best odds on course, try to proffer the correct stake money for your wager

4. Check with the bookmaker when placing a bet, the Place Terms. Place Betting, not all on course bookmakers accept each way bets, ie. for a win or a place.

5. In the unlikely event of a dispute after adhering to this procedure, the bookmaker will tell the punter to approach the Ring Official, who will advise you as to your rights.

6. Some course bookmakers have minimum stakes.e.g. £1, £5, £10 but small backers are catered for in the racecourse Betting Shops.
