WELCOME to Ayr Racecourse for Scottish Sun Ladies Night and what promises to be an exciting evening with lots happening on and off the track to hopefully ensure everyone has an enjoyable and unforgettable night.
I’d like to welcome back the Scottish Sun as sponsors this evening. We have a long association with the Scottish Sun dating back to 2007 and for many years they sponsored our June Saturday They are great supporters of racing and we are also fortunate to have their very own Racing Columnist Jim Delahunt as part of the team here at Ayr.
As part of our fabulous style awards one lucky winner will receive a £1000 holiday voucher from our very good friends at Stewart travel and Jet 2 Holidays together with £500 spending money and perhaps best of all the lucky winner will also win VIP Hospitality at the Virgin Bet Ayr Gold Cup on 23 September Keep an eye out for our spotters and if you are lucky enough to be chosen then you could be winning this great prize. Full details are on page 9.
If all of this wasn’t enough after the racing we have some top entertainment with Heart Radio’s Legend Toby Anstis who will light up the Ayrshire Suite with his RELIGHT THE 90’S set and don’t forget we have a special live performance by none other than Janis Robinson from 90’s band Livin Joy
Remember too that the Virgin Bet Ayr Gold Cup is not far, 3 days of the best racing and entertainment in Scotland on 21-23 September tickets available at www.ayr-racecourse.co.uk
I’d also like to thanks the team here at Ayr Racecourse for their hard work and dedication which helps makes nights like tonight that bit more special.
Last but not least thanks you for your attendance tonight and I hope you all have an enjoyable evening.

Listed below are the Jockeys and Trainers in action at today’s meeting.
ENTRIES for this year’s Virgin Bet Ayr Gold Cup close this coming Tuesday, August 15, with the £180,000 feature due to be run over the 6 furlongs straight track here at Ayr in 6 weeks time on Saturday
September 23
Summerghand landed the famous old trophy for trainer David O’Meara and locally born rider Danny Tudhope 12 months ago and this year’s renewal is again expected to be contested by a maximum 25 of the top handicap sprinters in the country
The same day’s Silver Cup and the previous day’s Bronze Cup give the next 50 horses in the handicap a chance to run for excellent prize money as well and the weights for the big race will be published on Wednesday August 23, with final declarations due on Thursday September 21 when the fields for all three races will be made public.
Last year’s win for the 8 year-old Summerghand was a second success in the race for David O’Meara, the trainer having landed the Gold Cup with Louis The Pious in 2014 and Irvine-born Tudhope was joining a jockeys’ roll of honour which contains some of the most famous riders in racing history
Major names like the legendary Stirling-born multiple champion jockey Willie Carson NEVER managed to win the race but Willie’s grandson William Carson rode the winner in 2008 on the David Nicholls trained Regal Parade.
Before Nahaarr won in 2020 for William Haggas, the last Newmarket trained winner of the race had been Alan Bailey’s Not So Silly in 1987 and that horse’s long-retired jockey, Gary Bardwell, was recently spotted at Ayr leading up a runner for his current employer Saeed Bin Suroor who uses Gary as a valued workrider
Funfair Wane was the last horse to win the race twice having scored in 2002 and 2004 and retiring superstar rider Frankie Dettori won back-to-back runnings in 2009 and 10 on Jimmy Styles and Redford, but it’s still early days as to whether the Italian might have one final attempt at making it three before he hangs up his saddle in November
The last Scottish trained winner came in 1975 when local Ayr trainer Nigel Angus saddled Roman Warrior to win the race for the second time in 4 years after Swinging Junior in 1972. Jim Goldie, Iain Jardine, Linda Perratt, Mike Smith and Lucinda Russell could all be making entries next week and Jim has been successful in both the Silver Cup and the Bronze Cup in recent seasons.

Danny Tudhope - Winning last year’s contest with Summerghand
LEADERBOARDS
Joe Fanning rode a winner, a second and a third at our latest meeting here on Monday and that kept the evergreen veteran nicely clear of reigning champion Paul Mulrennan who added a runner-up spot to his winner on Ayr Poet to keep within 5 points of the top. Andrew Mullen kept the winners ticking over with success on JKR Cobbler but Fanning and Mulrennan look like fighting this one out.
Jim Goldie was quieter than usual on Monday after a busy Saturday night at Hamilton but he still added a winner to his total with Ayr Poet and Iain Jardine, Charlie Johnston and the very much in-form local trainer Mike Smith all weighedin with a winner apiece on the day. Johnston had brought up his maiden century of winners at Thirsk two days earlier and Smith was making it 3 winners in 8 days. Repeat Monday wins for JKR Cobbler and Ayr Poet mean owners A. Rankin and The Reluctant Suitors move into contention for the owners' title race which now has six bill-payers separated by just 2 points.

FORM RATINGS
Included in the form guide below each horse is a form rating, calculated from the horse’s previous performances, taking into account a number of variables such as finishing position, distance won/beaten by, horses beaten/beaten by, weight carried, race time (compared with the standard time), going allowance, number of days since that performance, etc.
Horses which have not raced will not have a form rating, as may some horses which have raced but not recently in Britain or their performances to-date have not yet merited a rating.
Brando was the winner of the Ayr Gold Cup on Saturday, 17th September, 2016.
HOW TO BET
1. Pick your Racehorse, look around for the best odds on course, try to proffer the correct stake money for your wager
2. Ask the Bookmaker for your bet by naming the horse. The bookmaker will repeat your bet to his clerk, correct bookmaker if he makes a mistake and receive your Betting Ticket as a receipt for your bet.
3. If your horse wins, give your Betting Ticket to the bookmaker, check your winnings.
4. Check with the bookmaker when placing a bet, the Place Terms. Place Betting, not all on course bookmakers accept each way bets, ie. for a win or a place.
5. In the unlikely event of a dispute after adhering to this procedure, the bookmaker will tell the punter to approach the Ring Official, who will advise you as to your rights.
6. Some course bookmakers have minimum stakes.e.g. £1, £5, £10 but small backers are catered for in the racecourse Betting Shops.
EACH WAY BETTING
In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting.

RACE RESULT DISTANCES
The hat-trick seeking Ayr Poet has been nothing shy of progressive recently and Jim Goldie’s eightyear-old can go close under a 4lb penalty for his last success. However, GOLDEN VALOUR filled the runner-up spot behind the aforementioned most recently and can reverse that form now 6lb better off with his rival. HavanaParty is another to bear in mind following a decent third at Hamilton in June.

RACE RESULT DISTANCES
The key to this race could be the recent clash over C&D between KATS BOB (first) and Caribbean Sunset (second), with the former taken to come out on top once again. That latter has gone up 3lb for a subsequent success, so Iain Jardine’s charge is only 1lb worse off with that rival as they reopposes and the fact he has won here over further is another plus. Course regular One Last Hug and The Caltonian cannot be ruled out either.

First Greyed was a good winner over an extended 7f at Beverley last time, but he may struggle to defy a 3lb rise in the ratings, so the nod goes to YEEEAAH. Tristan Davidson’s charge has yet to shed his maiden tag but he has been shaping as if a win could be just around the corner after running consistently well over a mile of late and the drop in trip appears likely to unlock more improvement Slippin Jimmy heads the remainder.

Future Times could try to make the running again and he may not be easy to pass dropping back to this trip. ANA EMARAATY ran his best race yet when third at Newcastle, despite being short of room at a crucial stage, and after only seven starts he may have more improvement to come. Jaminoz, Cabinet Maker and El Royale all have form that suggests they can have a say.
