Iain Jardine
11% S U C C E S S RA T E AYR RECORD LAST 5 YEARS
36 WINS FROM 318 RUNNERS
The Carrutherstown trainer celebrated a massive winner at Market Rasen on Saturday when 6 year-old mare Born Famous completed a famous 5-timer for the yard by winning the £55,000 Summer Plate at Market Rasen under Harry Cobden. The Jardine horses have been in terrific form both on the Flat and over jumps and the trainer was on the mark here with JKR Cobbler last Monday after saddling winners at Hamilton and Perth over the previous two days. JKR Cobbler is back for more under a 5lbs penalty in today’s 7 furlongs handicap at 4.50 with Iain saddling 6 runners across the card. Lazareti is an interesting newcomer for the yard in the Irish EBF Maiden at 3.05 with Iain saddling both Showmedemoney and Zumaaty in the closing mile handicap.
Jim Goldie
11% S U C C E S S RA T E AYR RECORD LAST 5 YEARS 68 WINS FROM 642 RUNNERS
Jim’s horses have been in magnificent form at Ayr all season and the Uplawmoor trainer seems to be going all out to retain his champion trainer title at the home of the Ayr Gold Cup The Goldie sprinters are always to be respected in Ayrshire but Two Auld Pals plies his trade at longer trips and looks to make it 3 wins in 4 starts in today’s Apprentice Handicap over a mile and five furlongs which opens the card at 2.30 Eight year-old Ayr Poet was beaten on the nod in a photo finish here last Monday and will be a popular order to go one place better in the mile handicap at 5.25 under last week’s jockey, apprentice William Pyle.
Donald Whillans
27% S U C C E S S RA T E AYR RECORD LAST 5 YEARS 3 WINS
From 11 Runners
Borders trainer Donald has found the key to the mare See My Baby Jive over the course of the last two Mondays at Ayr and the 7 year-old goes for a 14-day hat-trick over course and distance in today’s 6 furlongs handicap at 4.15 Blinkers seem to have made a major difference to the Whillans’ runner with Jason Hart finding rich pickings by bringing her with winning runs up the stands rail on both occasions. She carries a 4lb penalty today and Hart has been claimed to ride topweight One More Dream for John Quinn but Danny Tudhope became an Ayr Gold Cup winning jockey on Summerghand last year and the Whillans’ mare will get every assistance from the saddle in her hat-trick bid.
Danny Tudhope
15% S U C C E S S RA T E AYR RECORD LAST 5 YEARS 38 WINS FROM 251 RIDES
Danny’s 2022 Ayr Gold Cup win on Summerghand for his long-time ally David O’Meara was undoubtedly a career highlight for the Irvine-born rider and he continues to hold a retainer for owner Steve Parkin’s operation which is run under the Clipper Logistics banner Tudhope has 4 booked rides on the card this afternoon including recent Chantilly Listed race third Dorothy Lawrence for his retaining owners and he’s also picked up an excellent “spare” ride on the hat-trick seeking See My Baby Jive for trainer Donald Whillans in the sprint handicap at 4.15

Jason Hart
13% S U C C E S S RA T E AYR RECORD LAST 5 YEARS 29 WINS FROM 217 RIDES
Hawick-born Jason is now 10 years on from landing the Champion Apprentice title with 51 winners back in 2013 and the 29 year-old’s career hit new heights last year thanks to the exploits of the triple Group One winning filly Highfield Princess, trained by his main employer John Quinn. The now 6 year-old has failed to add to those success so far this year but the mare has been placed under Hart in two Group Ones at Royal Ascot and a Group Two at York for form figures of 2-2-3 and she’s entered at Goodwood next Friday (Group Three) as well as the Group One Nunthorpe Stakes at York. Hart has 4 rides today including two for Quinn in the 3.40 and 4.15
Paul Mulrennan
17% SU CC ES S RA T E AYR RECORD LAST 5 YEARS 55 WINS FROM 332 RIDES
Paul rode a winner on each of the two days at Hamilton’s fixture last week and is going all out to retain his champion jockey title at Ayr as he continues to chase current leader Joe Fanning. His rides today include Kraken Power for his main supplier of Ayr winners, Jim Goldie, and the rider has become famous for his come from behind tactics over a variety of trips.

He has won four times from 5f to 6f on ground varying from good to soft. Beaten 7l behind Mecca’s Angel at 20-1 when 9th of 19 on his latest outing in the Group 1 Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes at York over 5f (good) last month. Drop back into handicaps should suit.

Form Ratings
Included in the form guide below each horse is a form rating, calculated from the horse’s previous performances, taking into account a number of variables such as finishing position, distance won/beaten by, horses beaten/beaten by, weight carried, race time (compared with the standard time), going allowance, number of days since that performance, etc.
Horses which have not raced will not have a form rating, as may some horses which have raced but not recently in Britain or their performances to-date have not yet merited a rating.
Brando was the winner of the Ayr Gold Cup on Saturday, 17th September, 2016.
