MARES’ HANDICAP HURDLE (CLASS 2) (GBB RACE)

Race Description

This is a three miles and half a furlong handicap hurdle race for mares aged four-years and upwards. The majority of handicaps are designed for horses from with a specific ratings band but this particular race has no rating restrictions attached to it which allows horses with a higher rating to take part. Even so, the higher rated horses must still concede weight to their lower rated rivals, which tends to make open handicaps very competitive races.

TODAY’S TIPS A creditable third in a valuable Grade 2 handicap at Newbury last month, GREAT SNOW should appreciate going back up in trip as she looks to bounce back to winning ways. The six-year-old remains open to improvement and she may have too much for last year’s winner Get A Tonic and Jasmiwa, who did it easily at Chepstow last time out. Bellatrixsa and Charm Offensive cannot be ruled out either
