FORM RATINGS
6
7
Included in the form guide below each horse is a form rating, calculated from the horse’s previous performances, taking into account a number of variables such as finishing position, distance won/beaten by, horses beaten/beaten by weight carried, race time (compared with the standard time) going allowance number of days since that performance, etc.
Horses which have not raced will not have a form rating, as may some horses which have raced but not recently in Britain or their performances to-date have not yet merited a rating.

This can go the way of LONE STAR, who gets to run off the same mark as when runner-up at Market Rasen last week. The form of that race has worked out well, with the winner going in again at Uttoxeter on Saturday, and Philip Kirby’s mare gets the vote ahead of Animore, who is well capable on her day. Topkapi Star must enter the equation, while Poppy Rose could improve for stepping up in trip.

3RD 4TH TIME

2ND
WHEELBAHRI continues to go from strength to strength and this track should hold no fears as the nine-year-old looks to make it seven wins in his last nine starts. A career-high mark of 116 will make life tougher, but he should have too much for his main danger Champ De Gane, who ran well when second over C&D last month. Similar comments apply to Travail D’Orfevre, while Douglas Talking is one who could bounce back to form.

The unexposed APPLE AWAY was only narrowly denied on her handicap debut at Haydock in December and Lucinda Russell’s six-year-old could be hard to beat based on that evidence, despite a 2lb rise in the ratings. Jet Legs also hit the crossbar on his most recent outing and he could prove to be the main threat to the selection, although Lady Bowes and Hoganville should not be underestimated.

Half-sister to Kalifornia, won in NH flat race at 2m 1f. Well beaten at 9-1 behind Kingston Bridge when 9th of 12 on her racecourse debut at Kelso over 2m (good to soft) in November last year. Appeals on pedigree but needs a big step forward from that first run in public. Official BHA Rating -

Dam won three times in NH flat races at 2m and 2m 1f and three times over hurdles at 2m and 2m 2f including two Grade 3 races. Cost €95,000 as a three-year-old and looks the part on paper, so needs to be taken seriously despite the obvious lack of experience. Official BHA Rating -

2ND
TIME
Chosen Hero has decent form claims and given her yard sent out the winner of this race last year, she is highly respected in her bid to follow up last month’s comfortable success at Wetherby. However, SHE’S A FINE WINE offers strong appeal on pedigree and may be worth chancing on her debut for an in-form yard. Lunar Discovery has to give weight away due to two previous bumper wins but is highly respected all the same.
