Stuart’s horses are in fine form and his record at Ayr this season is tremendous. He saddled a three timer here last November and last Monday scored a double with Gold Cup Bailly and L Anamour taking his tally here this term to 6 winners from 10 runners. His entries this afternoon include Champ De Gane in the Novices’ Handicap Chase at 2.10pmand Isenay in the National Hunt Flat Race that closes the card at 3.55pm. Both these horses run in the famous Isaac Souede and Simon Munir two tone green colours who have given Stuart five of his winners here in 2022-23
Lucinda rarely leaves Ayr without a winner and comes here today with several runners who must have an outstanding chance of winning. These include the once raced Esprit du Potier in the Book Now For The Coral Scottish Grand National National Hunt Flat Race who was second in a bumper here last November In the Conditional Jockeys’ Novices’ Hurdle the Russell representative is Your Place who caught the eye when finishing runner up at Kelso in November Stable Conditional Patrick Wadge rides.
Mike’s horses are beginning to run into form as was highlighted by big runs from Euchan Falls to finish second here at odds of 50-1 last week in the same race that The Jad Factor led until falling at the last when in front. This afternoon Mike runners include Dot Cotton in the Racingtv.com Conditional Jockey’s’ Handicap Hurdle and this mare ran a good race to finish third behind Beat Box in a similar contest here at our Coral Christmas Raceday last month. A big run is expected from Dot again today

Sean is one of the top jockeys in the country and is a regular visitor to the winners’ enclosure here at Ayr. He has several mounts this afternoon and these include Choix Des Armes in the Racing TV Handicap Chase over two miles at 2.45pm. The 11-year-old won a chase at Wetherby last March and could go well this afternoon. Sean also rides FIA Fuinidh in the Watch Live On Racing TV Novices’ Hurdle at 3.20pm and this horse ran well to finish third here last month and could improve on that form today

A talented and tactically astute rider who is well on course to win his third jockeys title in the last four years. Brian is a regular visitor to Ayr where his record in recent years is second to none. He rode two winners here last Monday and will be hoping to add more to his season’s tally this afternoon. He partners Anubis Walk in the Racing TV EBF Mares’ National Hunt Novices’ Hurdle at 1.10pm and this £120,000 purchase runs in the famous Honeysuckle colours for owner Kenny Alexander
Craig has an excellent record here at Ayr and was successful last Monday when landing the Mills Milk Handicap Hurdlebon So Many Roads for trainer Donald Whillans. Today his mounts include two for the Whillans yard - Eden Mill in the Watch Live On Racing TV Handicap Hurdle and on newcomer Bollin Matilda in the Book For The Coral Scottish Grand National Open National Hunt Flat Race. He enjoys the support of a number of leading trainers including Rose Dobbin and Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero.
Brian Hughes leapfrogged Bruce Lynn in the 2022-2023 Jockeys Championship at Ayr by riding a first and last race double at our Golf Inn Prestwick New Years Raceday on January 22.
The champion jockey is on the 24 point mark with Bruce on 23, Danny McMenamin on 22 and Derek Fox on 21.
Nick Alexander’s lead over Lucinda Russell in the Trainers Championship has been cut to two points with Nicky Richards and Stuart Crawford a further 14 points adrift in joint third spot.
Simon Munir and Isaac Souede who also scored a double on January 2 are on 15 points in the Owners Championship, six clear of Tarzan Bloodstock.

AUBIS WALK is a good starting point, as she is unlucky not to be coming into this on the back of a win having just been touched off in the closing stages over 2m5f at Kelso last month. DECLARED RUNNERS 9 2022: NO CORRESPONDING RACE LAST YEAR Tongue Strap worn first time by No. 9. Sheepskin Cheek Pieces worn by No. 3.
Probable S.P’s: 5-2 Kilbrainy (IRE), 7-2 Agilulf (GB), 9-2 Hashtag Lord (FR), 10-1 Fia Fuinidh (IRE), 14-1 Fortcanyon (IRE), 16-1 Fathers Advice (IRE), 20-1 Eden Mill (IRE), 25-1 Tarquin Stardust (FR), 33-1 Kinnegad Lad (IRE)
Kilbrainy wasn’t beaten far at Musselburgh last time and holds obvious claims dropped in both trip and class, but a chance is taken on handicap debutant FIA FUINIDH He has improved in each of his three hurdle starts to date and an opening mark of 102 looks fair. Hashtag Lord is another handicap newcomer to note, while Agilulf and Irish raider Kinnegad Lad add further spice to the race.

Marginal preference is for ISENAY, who showed up well for a long way in the valuable Goffs Land Rover Bumper at Punchestown last April. This is an easier task and, with his stable in fine form, the five-year-old can see off the likes of Esprit Du Potier and Lucky Soldier, who both ran with promise on their debuts when second over C&D. Chance The Robin should not be underestimated either for shrewd connections.
