PAUL KEEPS UP BLISTERING PACE IN JOCKEYS’ RACE Paul Mulrennan stretched his lead at the top opf the Ayr Jockeys Championship for the 2022 Flat season to 33 points over Billy Garritty on Monday after riding a double on Ayr Poet in the Ayrshire Cancer Support Handicap followed half an hour later by Water Of Leith in the Sunday Market At Ayr Racecourse Handicap.

Both these winners were for trainer Jim Goldie who sits 27 points clear of Mike Smith in the Trainers Championship with Keith Dalgleish back in third spot.

In the Owners Championship Summerstorm Bloodstock Ltd set the pace from West Loudoun Racing Club and Michele Craig and David D Smith.

Jim is simply a legend in racing having recently bagged his 1,000th career win here and he shows no sign of slowing down. On Monday here he saddled a double courtesy of Ayr Poet and Water Of Leith taking his total for the season to 39 just seven short of his best every year on the flat in 2014. He has several outstanding chances this evening including with Bobby Shaftoe in the Havana Club Handicap at 7.58pm.

Paul is riding at the very top of his game just now and had a double here on Monday with Ayr Poet and Water Of Leith taking him to 11 winners from 56 rides at the track this season.

He is enjoying one of his best ever years and his association with Jim Goldie has blossomed over the years. Paul’s mounts tonight include Sophiesticate in the Absolut Maiden Handicap and this filly has been running well in defeat.

The Fahey yard has a superb record at the track down the years winning virtually all of our major races and there’s scarcely a meeting at Ayr where Richard isn’t represented. Tonight his runners include Carva Myrine in the Whitley Neill Gin Maiden Stakes at 6.23pm.

This unraced three year-old is well bred and is worth a market check. He also runs Cisco Disco in the Tennent’s Lager Handicap at 6.53pm.

Oisin joined the Richard Fahey team earlier in the season and has been riding a steady stream of winners including four winners here. He has three rides this evening – on the newcomer Carva Myrine in the Whitley Neill Maiden Stakes at 6.23pm, on Cisco Disco in the Tennent’s Lager Handicap – both for the Fahey yard and he also rides Flylikeaneagle for Lucinda Russell in the Havana Club Handicap.

Russian Virtue looks the biggest danger having been narrowly touched off over C&D three days ago and if that hasn’t taken too much out of him, he can go close again. We cannot accept trainers, non-tailored shorts, vests, football and rugby shirts.

Smart jeans are acceptable.

Grandstand – informal and casual dress but no vest tops of football or rugby colours.

FIRST AID The Ayr Executive take this opportunity to thank the St. AndrewsAmbulance Association for their help throughout the season. The First Aid Point can be found behind the main Grandstand.

FOOD & DRINK Food and drink must NOT be brought into the Racecourse. Glasses and bottles must not be taken outside Bars or designated enclosures.

HORSE CARE AT AYR At every race meeting at Ayr there are three specially qualified equine vets appointed to look after the welfare of all horses in action.

During a race two vets follow the action from the centre of the course and can attend a casualty in the same response time as the Medical Teams responsible for the welfare of the Jockeys.

The third vet is based at the Stable Yard where a close check is kept on all horses especially those returning after a race.

MEDIA COVERAGE & RECORDING FOR PROMOTIONAL PURPOSES All Attendees (which for the purposes of this clause also includes horses and for the avoidance of any doubt includes families with children) are reminded that many races and fixtures are given coverage on television, radio and in print and various other forms of media. By entering the Racecourse Attendees are accepting they may appear in such coverage which may also include printed or electronic material used for the promotion of the Racecourse.

Accordingly, Attendees shall have no right to object to their inclusion in any much coverage whether produced by the Racecourse or by third parties authorised by the Racecourse. Furthermore by entering the Racecourse each Attendee consents to the passing of still or moving images of them to third parties authorised by the Racecourse for the purposes of the production of printed or electronic material to be used solely for the Promotion of the Racecourse.

Each Attendee will give any additional consents or waivers required for the unrestricted lawful use of any coverage (if any) without request for payment or imposing any other conditions.

MOBILE TELEPHONES & RADIOS The use of mobile telephones is not permitted except by permission of the Clerk of the Course. Bookmakers who have paid the appropriate fee may also use mobile telephones. In addition the use of any transmitting or receiving device, other than the official racecourse, Tote or Police service is prohibited.

SMOKING Ayr Racecourse adheres to the government’s National No Smoking Policy. All indoor areas are No Smoking Zones. Those wishing to smoke may do so in the designated areas outside.

USE OF SCREENS It is now standard practice for screens to be erected around any horse receiving veterinary attention on the ground. This does not reflecton the severity of an injury, but allows the vet some privacy and the horse the opportunity in a calm environment, in which to make a recovery. Please do not assume the worst if you see screens erected around a fallen horse!
