NO CHANGE AT THE TOP IT’S as you were in the Owners, Trainers and Jockeys Championships for the 20212022 Jumps Season at Ayr with the respective leaders Mr and Mrs Duncan Davidson, Nick Alexander and Brian Hughes maintaining their leads after our New Year Raceday last Sunday.

The Davidson’s have a two point lead in the Owners’ Table over the Vacuum Pouch Company Limited and Mrs S Russell and AM Russell.

Nick is five points ahead of Lucinda Russell in the Trainer’s Championship with Nicky Richards a further point away in third while Brian Hughes enjoys a 13 point advantage over Conor O’Farrell in the Jockeys’ race.

Motown Maggie won well at Fairyhouse in November and has run two solid races under a penalty since, but she may struggle to give 7lb to fellow Irish raiser AILIE ROSE. Stuart Crawford’s mare was a shade disappointing in two starts at Perth last year, but has since gone close twice at Down Royal on soft ground and the underfoot conditions here look ideal. Fonzerelli could mount a bold bid from the front, while Miss Milano is relatively unexposed and could go well.

FEVER ROQUE built on a good effort in defeat at Kelso when running out an easy winner at Market Rasen, despite jumping left. This looks a good opportunity to follow up, especially now back on a left-handed circuit, and he is hard to oppose for the in-form Rebecca Menzies. Green Vault stayed on to make the frame over this C&D last month and can give the selection most to think about, with Red Ochre rated best of the remainder.

HASANKEY took his form to a higher level when hammering his rivals at Fontwell on his latest start and, with a 7lb rise potentially on the lenient side, the six-year-old looks capable of continuing on the upward curve. Dakota Moirette ran above expectations when third on his stable debut at Doncaster last month and can make a bold bid, while Crack Du Ninian still has the scope to progress over the larger obstacles and is another to consider now fitted with cheekpieces.

HORSE CARE AT AYR At every race meeting at Ayr there are three specially qualified equine vets appointed to look after the welfare of all horses in action.

During a race two vets follow the action from the centre of the course and can attend a casualty in the same response time as the Medical Teams responsible for the welfare of the Jockeys.

The third vet is based at the Stable Yard where a close check is kept on all horses especially those returning after a race.

MEDIA COVERAGE & RECORDING FOR PROMOTIONAL PURPOSES All Attendees (which for the purposes of this clause also includes horses and for the avoidance of any doubt includes families with children) are reminded that many races and fixtures are given coverage on television, radio and in print and various other forms of media. By entering the Racecourse Attendees are accepting they may appear in such coverage which may also include printed or electronic material used for the promotion of the Racecourse.

Accordingly, Attendees shall have no right to object to their inclusion in any much coverage whether produced by the Racecourse or by third parties authorised by the Racecourse. This does not reflecton the severity of an injury, but allows the vet some privacy and the horse the opportunity in a calm environment, in which to make a recovery.
