Aintree Racecard - Saturday 5th November

Page 1

THE JOCKEY CLUB WELCOMES YOU

Welcome to Aintree Racecourse for the Boylesports Autumn Raceday! We have some fantastic action in store for you today, with the feature race being the Boylesports Best Odds Guaranteed on Racing Grand Sefton Handicap Steeple Chase – the first race of the season over the iconic Grand National fences. Staged over two miles and five furlongs and with some amazing runners from both sides of the Irish Sea, this is an event we really look forward to as the season gets into full swing. Last year’s renewal went to the Peter Bowen-trained Mac Tottie, who demonstrated his liking for the unique Aintree fences when returning in the spring to win the Randox Topham Handicap Chase. Alongside the Boylesports Grand Sefton Handicap Chase we have a further six action-packed races to enjoy this afternoon, with the first getting underway at 12.26pm and the closer taking place at 3.50pm. We would like to wish all runners, riders and connections the very best of luck. As ever, we would like to thank our partners for their continued support. Today, our thanks go to Boylesports and the Pertemps Network Group for their support of the card. We wish them and their guests a wonderful day with us. Between now and Christmas we have another afternoon of top-class racing taking place on December 3rd with the Boylesports Becher Chase Day when again we’ll see horses taking on the Grand National fences. Moving into the New Year, all of our attentions will be well and truly fixed on the Randox Grand National meeting, that will take place from the 13th-15th April 2023, with the Grand National itself being staged on Saturday 15th. For more information on all of our fixtures over the coming months, please visit our website: www.thejockeyclub.co.uk/aintree/ In the meantime, I wish you all a fantastic afternoon of racing here at Aintree and we hope to see you again very soon. Warm Wishes, DICKON WHITE North West Regional Director

BREWIN’UPASTORM is the highest rated of these over hurdles and can repeat last year’s comeback win in this. Very smart chaser Dashel Drasher isn’t as good over hurdles but still rates the main threat ahead of the penalised Langer Dan.

TIMEFORM VIEW Took his chase strike-rate to an impressive 4-8 when taking a 7-runner contest at Worcester last month, slightly flattered by the 10-length winning margin (runner-up hit the last). 8lb higher today and another bold showing anticipated in his hat-trick bid. TFRHHHHH BHA123 DECLARED RUNNERS 6 2021: DARLING DU LARGE (FR) 8 10 2 Jonathan Burke 6-1 (Tom George) 8 ran Tongue Strap worn by No. 1, 3. Hood, Tongue Strap worn by No. 2. PLAY SMARTER

A tricky contest to unravel despite the small field but ONLY MONEY continues to go from strength to strength over fences so he gets the verdict to defy an 8lb rise in the weights and take his record to 5-9 in this sphere. Gunsight Ridge had excuses for his below-par effort when last seen over C&D in the spring so he’s put forward as the main danger returning having had a breathing operation, with Sao rounding off the shortlist.

Racehorse & Jockey Welfare

Weights, Pedigrees, Trainers’ Names, Descriptions, Performances and Values of races have been added for the convenience of the Public, but are subject to alteration. All horses must parade in the Parade Ring except by permission of the Stewards, but in all cases must pass through the Ring on the way to the Post. The Management reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone without assigning a reason for so doing.

The welfare of the sport’s equine and human participants is paramount to British Horseracing. All racehorses competing in Britain are stabled at the premises of trainers who are licensed by The British Horseracing Authority. The standards demanded by The BHA of licensed racehorse trainers far exceed those prescribed by animal welfare legislation. The British Horseracing Authority similarly licenses every racecourse, setting high standards for the racing surface and all parts of the course used by competitors, both human and equine. BHA Officials ensure that racecourses delivers these standards. In addition Aintree Racecourse employs a minimum of three veterinary surgeons, whose sole responsibility it is to provide care to the horses throughout their time at the racecourse. In the event of an incident on the racecourse, any horse affected will receive immediate treatment from the racecourse’s veterinary team. Qualified paramedics and doctors are also on hand in the case of any incident involving a jockey. If any incident occurs during a race it is routine practice for screens to be erected around the horse or jockey receiving treatment. This is to allow the veterinary or medical personnel to make a safe and accurate diagnosis and so that they may perform any treatment in a private and calm environment. If necessary, horses and riders will be transported from the course to receive further treatment at the nearest equine hospital or Accident & Emergency hospital.

Parade Ring Access In the interests of safety, access to the parade ring is strictly limited to Owners and Trainers with runners in the race, British Horseracing Authority Officials and Racecourse Officials who are on duty at the meeting and Emergency Service Personnel. Those people holding badges or accreditation that allow access to the Parade Ring are asked to refrain from entering this area unless it is absolutely necessary in the course of their business.

Photography Racegoers may take photographs for private purposes in the public enclosures. Under no circumstances may photographs taken on the racecourse be used for publication without prior accreditation being obtained. Flash photography is not permitted anywhere in the Parade Ring or Winner’s Enclosure areas, or anywhere in the close vicinity of horses.
