Some interesting young chasers line up here but it’s impossible to oppose FUNAMBULE SIVOLA who really took off on his chasing bow when a most impressive winner at Wetherby and should prove hard to beat under a 7lb penalty. Morning Vicar is another chaser with a lot of better days ahead of him so is fancied to chase home Venetia Williams’ improver, with Alnadam and Top Man much respected too.

Last year’s contest ended with a thrilling battle up the hill between the Paul Nicholls-trained Enrilo and Paul Webber’s House Island, with Enrilo emerging victorious by a hard-earned three-quarters of a length. House Island had led the field for much of the race, but was headed by Happygolucky as they turned for home. House Island battled back and got the better of that rival by the second last, but soon found himself fighting another battle, with Enrilo staying on up his inside. The pair jumped the last in unison, but Enrilo produced the better leap and despite House Island’s brave efforts, he couldn’t reel NIcholls’ charge back in at the line.

TODAY’S RUNNERS STAR GATE This Evan Williams-trained four-year-old may be three years younger than his main market rival, Sending Love, but what he lacks in age, he could well make up for in talent. He bolted up in exciting style at Chepstow on his hurdling debut, defeating a talented sort in the shape of Everglow, and could be extremely smart for his well-known owners, Mr & Mrs William Rucker.

HHHHH SENDING LOVE

ANY NEWS

An impressive winner on his last start at Ffos Las in November, the Paul Nicholls-trained seven-year-old looks a smart stayer in the making. He’ll relish any rain that fallas and will be staying on strongly up the hill.

Already a two-time winner this season, once in a Bumper at Exeter and then on his first run over hurdles at Bangor, Neil Mulholland’s five-year-old has done everything right so far and could take the step up to Graded level in his stride.

PRESS YOUR LUCK

An easy winner on his hurdling debut at Wetherby, this Alan King-trained fiveyear-old certainly fits the bill. The son of Coastal Path was, however, beaten next time out at Ludlow by a smart prospect, so he’ll have to bounce back here.

Chris Gordon’s five-year-old certainly knows how to win already with two novice hurdle victories to his name this season and this step up in trip could help draw out the improvement he needs to be competitive at this higher level.
