A NOTE FROM OUR PRESIDENT & CEO Dear friends and families, I am honored to welcome you to the 2026-2027 performance season at Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA)! This year’s incredible lineup of performances and events showcases the immense talent and creativity of OCSA students – a fitting way to commemorate our milestone 40th Anniversary season! As we embark upon this landmark year, I find myself reflecting on our school’s remarkable history and the community that has made these past four decades possible – from teachers and visiting artists to parents and students. A group of visionaries came together with a bold and inspiring idea in 1987 to create an after-school arts program on the campus of Los Alamitos High School. Over the past 40 years, OCSA has grown into a one-of-a-kind charter school serving nearly 2,450 students across 17 conservatories. I am so proud of OCSA as we know it today. While we have grown from our modest roots, our mission has remained the same: to provide young people with a place where artistic and academic excellence can thrive together and students can be challenged, supported, encouraged, and inspired. Our ability to provide this unique environment and high-level programming is due in no small part to the support and leadership of the individuals, corporations, and institutions in the following groups. They have my heartfelt appreciation for their role in our continued success. Board of Trustees Season Sponsors Foundation Board of Directors Strategic & Educational Partners Emeritus Board Encore President’s Circle People Supporting OCSA (PSO) Finally, I would like to recognize the vital contributions of our parents, alumni, administrators, faculty and staff, members of the local community, and – most importantly – our talented student artists. We believe deeply in nurturing their creativity and growth, and it is incredibly rewarding to see the results of their hard work in front of you today. Thank you for being a part of this performance season and our anniversary celebrations. I now invite you to immerse yourself in the artistry, energy, and inspiration that define the OCSA experience. With gratitude,
Teren M. Shaffer President & CEO Orange County School of the Arts
We provide an unparalleled arts and academic education in a creative, challenging, and nurturing environment to a diverse group of students who are passionate about the arts, preparing them to reach their highest potential.
Established in 1987, the nationally recognized Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA) offers a dynamic school culture that enables students to flourish as artists and scholars. The school currently serves a diverse student body of approximately 2,440 students in grades 7-12 from more than 100 cities throughout Southern California. In addition to offering a challenging college-preparatory academic program that produces high-achieving, motivated scholars, OCSA provides aspiring young artists with the opportunity to refine their skills and flourish in one of 17 arts conservatories. Each year, more than 200 concerts, recitals, staged performances, and exhibitions are presented at a variety of venues in Orange County and throughout the world, providing students with the unique experience of entertaining and inspiring thousands of audience members. OCSA is a donation-dependent public charter school; no student is offered or denied admission based on financial capacity. The school’s rigorous academic education coupled with advanced arts training has impacted many students, molding generations of creative thinkers, leaders, artists, innovators, and entrepreneurs.

THANK YOU TO OUR FEARLESS PAC!
OUR JUDGES SARAH KAUSE Sarah Kause is thrilled to be a judge for this year’s Battle of the Bands! A high school counselor at OCSA for the past five years, Sarah has had the privilege of witnessing some of the most incredible talent to come out of the Popular Music Conservatory. Music has always been a big part of her life—her father played in a band and still strums acoustic guitar to this day, sparking her own lifelong love for music. Sarah is excited to celebrate the creativity, artistry, and energy of all the performers tonight and can’t wait to be part of this unforgettable event!
SHARON BROWNE The ultimate ROCK STAR – Sharon Browne-Davis has been a teacher at OCSA for 20 years. Prior to taking her place in the front of the classroom, Mrs. Browne-Davis was in the front of the tour bus. She has worked as a Roadie for bands like Def Leppard, Van Halen, AC/DC, and Guns and Roses. Her vast knowledge of all things music was honed while she worked backstage doing sound checks for some of the best in the world. Her extensive guitar pick collection has been featured in museums around the world. She is the inspiration for Joan Jett’s “I love Rock and Roll”. Top musicians send her a copy of new lyrics so she can give her input before they are recorded. Her collection of concert t-shirts requires a separate temperature-controlled room in her home.
JON SPREKELMEYER After a career in advanced vinyl listening, and varsity guitar strumming, Mr. Sprek got very involved in many forms of music: grunge, punk, alternative, classic rock, classical and of course the 80’s. Since music as a career was not in his talentless future, he became a teacher so he could critique others and pretend he was very talented by hiding behind his authority.

OPPORTUNITIES TO INSPIRE, IMPACT, AND INVEST IN THE NEXT GENERATION OF ARTIST-SCHOLARS CREATE ENRICHING OPPORTUNITIES The Hearts for the Arts campaign provides additional support for arts conservatory needs beyond each conservatory’s annual budget. Donations help to fund special equipment and supplies, performances, field trips, and other arts enrichment opportunities for our talented OCSA students.
HELP STUDENTS IN NEED The Artist Scholar Sponsorship Program supports economically disadvantaged students who attend OCSA. Donations help to fund the arts conservatory portion of their school day and ensure they have access to the full OCSA experience, including yearbooks, technology, school supplies, and more.
PROVIDE GUEST ARTIST EXPERIENCES The Carole Pickup Master Artist Series supports high-profile visiting artists who create meaningful experiences for our student artists. Donations help to bring master artists and industry leaders to OCSA’s campus to share their career stories and expertise with students through residencies, master classes, lectures, and performances.
