RICE UNIVERSITY
MARGARET MARY’S OUTPATIENT & CANCER CENTER
At Rice University in Houston, Texas, CMTA developed a Carbon Neutral Plan and Decarbonization Roadmap in alignment with the University’s mission, values, and strategic objectives. To ensure a well-informed decision-making process when crafting the strategy, CMTA created a live dashboard to compare the lifecycle cost, project cost, carbon impact, and energy and water costs. Through the roadmap, Rice University will reduce energy consumption and aim to eliminate natural gas as a fuel source.
Decarbonization Roadmap
In Batesville, Indiana, CMTA served as the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design engineer for a highperformance geothermal system upgrade at Margaret Mary’s Outpatient & Cancer Center, enabling the facility to reduce emissions, provide better patient care, and enhance resiliency. The central plant geothermal conversion project involved the installation of 68 geothermal wells, giving access to naturally heated steam that is then used to generate electricity for the facility. Construction also included the installation of three 60ton heat pump modules, which allow the facility to reduce boiler usage during below-freezing conditions, locking in resilience to extreme weather events and transition risks associated with climate change. TOTAL PROCESS SYSTEMS
In the Bay Area of San Francisco, California, Therma was the design build HVAC and plumbing contractor for a large tech company’s first ground-up mass timber building. On top of the reduced embodied carbon inherent in the innovative engineered wood that structures the building, Therma designed the HVAC and plumbing systems to maximize building efficiency and occupant comfort.
Therma, in partnership with Paques’ US distributor Total Process Systems, has been contracted for the design and fabrication of the Thiopaq® system. The Thiopaq® system is a processing unit that removes undesired sulfur from crude biogas streams derived from wastewater, geothermal plants, and livestock agricultural facilities. Through this work, Therma is helping transform what would otherwise be underutilized waste products into purified biogas that can be directly fed into the natural gas grid.

FORTERA
URBAN COMMUNITY SOLAR
Therma partnered with Fortera to help disrupt the cement supply chain. Fortera’s patented ReCarb Process involves recycling CO2 emissions derived from the immediate cement kiln or other available CO2 sources. The CO2 is injected directly into the cement production process, where it effectively becomes sequestered once it is converted into concrete. Therma’s specific involvement has been with Fortera’s initial process development, and ultimately Therma was responsible for automating Fortera’s ReCarb facility located in Redding, California. Fortera’s ReCarb process purports a net zero emission of CO2 which would otherwise be released into the atmosphere.
Black Bear Energy was fundamental in facilitating the completion of one of the most significant urban community solar projects in the United States. Together with Terreno Realty, Aligned Climate Capital, DC Green Bank, and Amalgamated Bank, Black Bear Energy completed a rooftophosted community solar project in northeast Washington, D.C. Spanning nearly 700,000 square feet of rooftops, this solar project is set to generate over 7 million kWh of clean energy annually. As an affordable energy source, this project is expected to save local households $7.5 million over the next 20 years.

A 6.1 MW rooftop solar project that will provide enough energy to power 965 single-family homes across Washington D.C.
Initial process development and automation of the ReCarb facility to sequester CO2 in cement to produce net zero emissions TWELVE Therma worked with Twelve, a company transforming carbon, on the design and development of four process modules that take the incoming CO2 for further generation of Twelve syngas. This process involves diverting CO2 from a variety of sources including stack gases and power plants and converting the CO2 into useful syngas that can then be further used as the basic feedstock for a variety of hydrocarbon-based products that are otherwise produced from fossil-based petroleum feedstocks. Twelve is presently working in cooperation with Alaska Airlines in providing them with their e-Fuel product as an alternative to fossil-based jet fuel. GENERATING RENEWABLE ENERGY
ADDRESSING PHYSICAL CLIMATE RISK
Installation of on-site solar at our companies, where feasible, helps us green local energy grids, bringing in clean energy for more than just our operations to benefit from.
The negative impacts of physical risks, such as extreme heat, droughts, or other forms of severe weather, which are exacerbated by climate change, are monitored across Legence to ensure we do what we can to mitigate or manage their effects on our people and our planet.
At our A.O. Reed office, we have been generating more than 200,000 kWh of renewable energy annually since 2010. PROCURING GREEN POWER
Our Environmental Health and Safety Director, along with teams across the country design processes to ensure all worksites comply with the latest safety standards and procedures.
In 2024, Legence purchased 37 MWh of green power and generated 210 MWh of on-site solar. The purchase of green power is reflected in our 2024 market-based emissions statement.
ENSURING COMPLIANCE
GREEN LEASING
PIVOTING TO PREFABRICATION
Wherever possible, Legence enters green leasing contracts to help obtain insights into our utility consumption at leased spaces and to work with our landlords to lower consumption.
Market shifts to prefabrication address embodied carbon reductions. Legence has shifted our solutions to meet these market expectations, focusing on our prefabrication facilities. (Read more on pages 13-14 and 18)
We continually evaluate transition risks, such as pending legislation on carbon reporting and building performance standards, and the overall energy transition across Legence to ensure we are compliant and resilient.
PRIORITIZING GREEN BUILDINGS Prioritizing green buildings helps ensure we provide our employees with safe, healthy, and efficient workplaces. That includes making sure our offices are accessible by low-carbon transportation options such as biking or public transit. LEGENCE OFFICE MOBILITY SCORES 6 WALK 7

Tracking Progress and Improving Operational Efficiency Legence tracks scope 1 and 2 emissions per employee as a key performance indicator (KPI) on our decarbonization journey. This intensity-based metric enables us to track progress in optimizing day-to-day operations at individual brands while continuing to grow our overall portfolio. Emissions per employee is a comparable metric across Legence’s diverse brands – which vary in size, service offerings, and fleet vehicles – and reflects our most valued asset: our people. We will continue to track this metric going forward to help guide our investments in decarbonization and operational efficiency.

FUTURE
Attracting Tomorrow's Professionals Today Legence teammates are encouraged to pursue career development opportunities and personal success. As we work to build a better future, faster, we are actively pursuing resources and programs to grow our talent pipeline and develop skills across our existing workforce that will ultimately benefit our clients and the industry at large.
APPRENTICE PROGRAM Launched in May 2023, Yearout’s apprentice program gives high-school students the opportunity to develop skills and log hours toward mastering a trade. To further their reach, Yearout also partnered with the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions, and through this additional engagement, students have the chance to work alongside our experts for up to 400 hours. Once the hours are completed, students can join the Union’s apprenticeship program. IN 2024, WE WELCOMED FIVE PARTICIPANTS FROM THE PROGRAM TO THE LEGENCE TEAM WHO ARE NOW UNDER THE UNION’S APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM AS 1.5-LEVEL APPRENTICES.
MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR'S ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA Through our involvement with the MCA, which sponsors the Associated Schools of Construction Student Competition, we help coach students through the largest construction management competition in the country. Legence teammates also help prep competitors from Southern California teams through engagement with local technical colleges such as Cal Poly. Our teams help prepare students by facilitating a problem statement, judging, and coaching. In this local effort, and at the national scale, we are sharing solutions with emerging professionals to take them to the next level.
ROTATIONAL PROGRAM
DESIGN LAB PARTNERSHIP
RE Tech’s Rotational Program aims to expand expertise of junior team members through year-long on-the-job training program that exposes candidates to a wide range of sustainability knowledge, skills, and projects.

A MESSAGE ON LEADERSHIP
We Are Driving Strong Leadership We pride ourselves on having strong industry leaders with the ability to think outside the box to develop new and innovative solutions. The secret to our success lies in how we develop those industry leaders. ENGINEERED FOR LONG-TERM VALUE To address the complex and critical challenges our industry faces and to promote the ‘Built Different, Built Better, Built for What’s Next’ mindset, Legence has chosen to bring together a cohort of leaders to create the Legence Leadership Council (LLC). Members of the LLC are nominated by senior leadership, and there are currently 160+ members. Each leader completes a predictive index assessment16 to help them identify their unique leadership characteristics. The goal of the council is to merge our problem-solving capabilities, industry-innovation, and collaboration to drive strong leadership practices and create unique cross-selling opportunities across our brands. A PIPELINE OF STRONG LEADERS The LLC is our incubator for leadership and collaboration, developed alongside employees to ensure value and scalability. Through the LLC, we are equipping our people with the skills and experience to address the complex issues our brands face, enabling them to continue scaling our solutions together. GROWING BETTER TOGETHER Members of the LLC attended in-person summits in 2024. After these summits, 18 cohorts were created to focus on brandwide problems. Leadership development activities include experiential learning and development, knowledge sharing, foundational training and development, executive exposure, and reinforcement of learning objectives. Each cohort has a subjectmatter expert, an advisor, a company lead, and an observer or participant, ensuring clear roles and responsibilities are divided among the group. This structure was designed to highlight each individual’s leadership qualities and to ensure the most efficient and effective collaboration. Members of each cohort are responsible for applying what they have learned from their time in the council to help deploy it across their teams.

Cybersecurity
Legence is dedicated to keeping up with industry trends and best practices in our approach to risk management. We remain vigilant and adaptable in our approach and use external resources, including insurers, to help ameliorate some risks. Legence is committed to robust oversight from our general counsel and information technology (IT) specialists to report on potential risks and communicate with the Executive Leadership Team, who then track, monitor, and respond to risks on a case-by-case basis.
Legence has designed and implemented a comprehensive security program that is based on the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework (CSF), a widely recognized and respected set of guidelines for managing cybersecurity risks. One of the most important and rigorous standards we adhere to is SOC2 Type II. We have completed a SOC2 Type II audit, which verified and validated our security practices and controls through an independent auditor. This audit report provides confidence to our customers and partners that we are serious and diligent about cybersecurity.

ENDNOTES 1
TRIR= Total Recordable Incidents X 200,000 / Total Hours.
2
Emissions per employee metrics are calculated using total Scopes 1 and 2 location-based emissions and annual employee head counts for each brand. Employee totals include both full-time and part-time employees. Total scopes 1 and 2 location-based emissions were 21,656 MTCO2e for 2024 and 21,061 MTCO2e for 2023; Scope 1 and 2 emissions intensity per full-time employee across all brands was 3.92 for 2024 and 4.08 for 2023. This resulted in a 4% decrease in emissions per employee. This metric and the underlying data have not been verified by an independent third party.
3
Individual Sq Ft. of each project is recorded in a Legence project database to track progress. These figures do not include embodied carbon, only operational carbon. Select projects are third-party certified only when the owner elects to pay to certify. Otherwise, these are a combination of modeled design goals for ongoing design and performance verified by utility bills for operating projects.
4
LTIR = Lost Time Incidents X 2000,000 / Total Hours.
5
Total Number of Vehicle Accidents / Total Mileage x 1,000,000.
6
Mobility scores are calculated using WalkScore.com. We input data on our office locations across the country to understand how accessible our locations are to walking, biking, or use of public transit on a scale of 0-100.
7
Walk Score measures the walkability of any address using a patented system. For each address, Walk Score analyzes hundreds of walking routes to nearby amenities. Points are awarded based on the distance to amenities in each category. Walk Score also measures pedestrian friendliness by analyzing population density and road metrics such as block length and intersection density.
8
Transit Score is a patented measure of how well a location is served by public transit. Transit Score is based on data released in a standard format by public transit agencies. To calculate a Transit Score, we assign a "usefulness" value to nearby transit routes based on the frequency, type of route (rail, bus, etc.), and distance to the nearest stop on the route. The "usefulness" of all nearby routes is summed and normalized to a score between 0 - 100.

Bike Score measures whether an area is good for biking. For a given location, a Bike Score is calculated by measuring bike infrastructure (lanes, trails, etc.), hills, destinations and road connectivity, and the number of bike commuters. These component scores are based on data from the USGS, Open Street Map, and the U.S. Census.

Under many of our leasing agreements, Legence does not have access to metered energy consumption data. Where metered data is unavailable, we estimate leased space energy consumption and input this into ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager® to provide a baseline for tracking progress; we are also evaluating upcoming lease renewals as opportunities to request this data from landlords.

FORWARD LOOKING STATEMENTS The data and information in this 2025 Sustainability Report (“Report”), which has been prepared by Legence, are presented for informational purposes only. Except where specifically noted otherwise, the reporting period of the Report covers subject matter and data for the year ended December 31, 2024 and is limited to the operations owned and/or operated by Legence. Statements in this Report that relate to future events, expectations, and trends may be considered “forward-looking statements” and involve factors that are subject to change and risks and uncertainties that could cause actual results to differ materially. These risks and uncertainties are difficult to predict and often are outside of our control. We have attempted to identify forward-looking statements by words such as “may,” “could,” “anticipate,” “target,” “plan,” “continue,” “goal,” “commit,” “achieve,” “project,” “intend,” “estimate,” “believe,” “may,” “potential,” “predict,” “expect,” or other similar terminology. However, such terminology is not the exclusive means of identifying forward-looking statements and its absence does not mean that the statement is not forward-looking. You should not place undue reliance on these forward-looking statements, which are neither historical facts nor assurances of future performance. Instead, they are based only on Legence’s current beliefs, expectations, and assumptions regarding the future of its business, sustainability approach, projections, anticipated economic changes and trends, and other conditions. Although Legence believes the expectations and beliefs reflected in the forward-looking statements are reasonable, any forwardlooking statement speaks only as of the date on which that statement is made. Legence assumes no obligation to update any forward-looking statement to reflect events or circumstances that occur after the date on which the statement is made. In addition, statistics and metrics presented in this Report relating to sustainability matters are estimates and may be based on assumptions or developing standards. Certain goals, targets, intentions, or expectations described herein are voluntary and should be viewed as aspirational. Further, certain information contained herein relating to any goals, targets, intentions, or expectations is subject to change, and no assurance can be given that such goals, targets, intentions, or expectations will be met within the applicable time frames or at all. Similarly, there can be no assurance that our sustainability policies and procedures as described in this Report will continue; such policies and procedures could change, even materially. We are permitted to determine in our discretion that it is not feasible or practical to implement or complete certain of our sustainability initiatives, policies, and procedures based on cost, timing, or other considerations. Certain information and data contained herein has been obtained from third parties. We have not independently verified the data from these third-party sources. While these third-party sources are believed to be reliable, we make no representation or warranty, express or implied, with respect to the accuracy, fairness, reasonableness, or completeness of any of the information contained herein, and we expressly disclaim any responsibility or liability therefor.
