The Robert M. Rogers Nursing and Health Sciences Building on the Tyler Junior College campus provides a prominent new entrance to the campus and consists of a four-story reinforced concrete structure with 136,400 SF of additional space to support the Nursing and Health Sciences degree programs. The building contains classrooms, faculty offices, teaching labs, simulator labs, teaching clinics and student collaboration spaces. The additional space also accommodates a new dental clinic that operates as both an educational laboratory and a community service. Community / Junior Colleges CENTER FOR HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONS, TRINITY RIVER CAMPUS
The project includes a new campus for Tarrant County College to house its Allied Health Program. The new campus consists of four multi-level buildings with 144,000 SF carved into the south side of the Trinity River Bluff. The two primary buildings at the north end of the campus consist of six-story cast-in-place, post-tensioned concrete structures with 12-foot cantilevered walkways, a 20-foot cantilevered floor and roof levels that are connected below the main plaza level. The two buildings at the south end of the campus feature stepped roofs to provide clearances from the Belknap Street Bridge above and green roofs supporting five feet of soil and planting. Also included is a 5,500 SF physical plant, steel circulation bridges within a sunken plaza, mechanical service tunnels, site retaining walls, an external glass elevator, steel canopies and trellises, and site ramps and stairs. The project was designed in coordination with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and meets LEED Silver standards.

The two-story facility was designed to house the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration program for the Tarrant County College District, as well as training programs for oil, gas and renewable energy technologies. With goals of LEED Platinum status and net zero energy, the Energy Technology Center will operate as a high-performance building and be a living, teaching and learning laboratory. The building’s structure and HVAC systems were largely left exposed to allow students to observe the systems, thus doubling as a teaching tool. Digital displays are provided around the building to provide real-time information about the building’s performance. The building also contains public gathering spaces, lecture halls, administrative offices, collaborative learning environments and exterior photovoltaic canopies for on-site power generation.

As the first phase of a four-phase plan, the educational building includes 11 classrooms, one biology lab, computer labs, a learning lab, a library and media center, faculty offices, student support spaces, campus police offices and student common areas.
