Miami born & Jersey raised, Scotty Nando is Jersey’s latest HipHop artist on the rise. Scotty Nando is a young, driven Haitian HipHop artist who has been buzzing not only in New Jersey, but throughout the country. He has worked with artists such as Uncle Murda, Haitian Fresh, SD of GBE and Grammy nominated producer Sonny Digital, as well as many others. Tokyo is a 19 year old artist from New Jersey who in a short period of time has been featured on Worldstarhiphop.com and has over 4 Million views on YouTube. Her songs have been played on Power 105.1 FM and has features from DJ Big O & DJ Lilman. She’s most known for her club songs, and has transition to hip hop. She currently has 3 mix tapes that she released via Datpiff.com, and plans on releasing her 1st EP titled “Ms. New Jersey”, which is now available on iTunes, Google Play and anywhere music is downloaded digitally.

My inspiration from my hip hop tracks differs from my club tracks. My club music is more about dancing having fun.

My hip hop tracks is more about my feelings, thoughts, etc.

How I feel at a moment, and how can I uplift girls just like me, to stay focused.

What is your favorite song that you’ve done thus far and why?

My favorite song so far is Fourteen. It’s a different sound from what I have done previously. It is also my first love song.

What made you want to transition into hip-hop?

I have always made rap songs, but club music is where I got introduced to the world and I will forever make club music because that is

When people ask me why I choose to paint abstract over any other style of art, right away my response is that it’s my purpose! You see, I believe that each and every one of us was put on this Earth with a gift, and I have been lucky enough to realize that my gift has been painting ever since I was a child!

I have always been the type of individual who liked to explore outside of the box, and with abstract painting, it allows me to discover colors of all different sorts; most importantly it breaks away from traditional representation of physical objects. I value the ability to paint whatever it is that I want, however I want to.

Being able to bring to life my emotions, my visions, and creative thoughts is something that inspires me to paint every day.

Though I don’t paint every day, I am thankful to have the desire to do so. My paintings are very colorful, with lots of movement and shapes. My paint of choice is oils, because it has great versatility. It also gives me the flexibility to come back to my paintings and leave off where I started. The blending of colors with oils is so incredible, and lots of fun. I paint with a variety of paintbrushes, which all depend on what I am painting. I paint with a palette knife very often, because there is just something that a palette knife does that an ordinary paint brush doesn’t, as it adds a more fluid movement to the canvas.

Recently, I have moved towards abstract portraits of individuals, because I love warping the human face. In some of my paintings, there are features that are exaggerated, simply because it is based off of what I see. And the greatest thing about it all is that someone may see it differently than you do. I never follow any guidelines when it comes to painting abstract, because how could there be rules to how I view things? My paintings are my energy. My energy comes across with the variety of colors, with every movement of every brushstroke, and even with how the paint splatters on the canvas. Each part of the canvas has a part of me and if there was ever a greater feeling to create something that is beautiful to me, it’s exactly that. My advice to everyone is find something that you truly love to do, and then you’ll know what true happiness and success will feel like. Keep in the back of your head that money will come and go, and that our happiness does depend on ourselves.

Brandon started out playing in a rock band for 6 years. During his senior year of high school he was given MacBooks, and there he discovered a program called Garageband. After exploring that program, he learned how to create remakes to hip hop beats. Eventually, he began to write his own hip hop, Dubstep, trance, and EDM beats. People began noticing his beats and encouraged him to explore other programs. In 2011, he purchased Logic Pro and currently, all his beats are made with that program. In the summer of 2012, he secured an internship at Puff Daddy’s legendary studio, Daddy’s House Recording Studio. While interning, he’s met producer of French Montana’s “Pop That” Lee On The Beats. Since then, they have formed a team called “The Amazinz”, with many other talented producers/songwriters.

The rock band I was in was a grade older than me, so once they graduated, we basically broke up as a band. The next year, during my senior year of high school, we were given MacBooks for school and I noticed the program Garageband and started using that to make beats. I didn’t want to give up on music just because the band broke up, so I needed to find something to fill the void and producing is what filled it.

What gave you that push to get as far as you’ve gotten today in the music industry?

I knew deep down that making it in this industry was possible. Seeing other producers become successful proved that it wasn’t impossible. I always held on to the idea that if someone else did it, why can’t I? Being young and already accomplished so much, where do you see yourself in 10 years?

In 10 years, I see myself as an established producer in all genres. Aside from beat production, I want to get into movie scores, television music production, etc. I don’t want to ever be in one lane. I want to continue to grow exponentially.

What is the passion behind your talents, skills and abilities? What motivated you to enter this area?

My uncle Steven Epstein is a classical record producer. He’s produced We Are Jersey Magazine MAY 2015 www.jerseyturntupent.com

records for some of the biggest classical and jazz music artists in the world. I’d say he’s motivated me more than anything else because seeing him reach such a high level of success made me want to be just like him.

What experience do you currently have credited to your success (specific documentation, certificates, training, degrees, etc.)?

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Music Production from Ramapo College. I have also produced DJ Khaled’s #1 Billboard single “Hold You Down” (and will be receiving gold plaque for 500,000 sales).

Who is your target audience? Who are you specifically trying to reach with your talent/message?

I want to inspire anyone who loves music to continue to do what they love. Even if it seems unreachable, I personally know that anything you want, you can make happen. It just takes time, patience, talent, and heart.

What successes have you personally achieved along your journey?

What setbacks have you personally experienced along your journey?

There have been so many ups and downs I’ve experienced. Sometimes I would hear some great news that ended falling through. Sometimes I would get discouraged and feel like things weren’t working out. But it’s having the strength to continue through the ups and downs that will prove your success.

What is the message you would like to share/spread through your gift?

Keep your interest in what you love as strong as possible, even when it seems impossible. Work as hard as you can and seize each opportunity like it’s the most important thing ever. Never give up.

Are there upcoming projects from you we should look forward to?

I have a lot of work coming out. There is new material coming on DJ Khaled’s 8th album, I Changed A Lot. Recently I cooked up a smash for Fat Joe. I also did a collaborative project with Fetty Wap which is dope.

My team (The Amazinz) and I have also been working closely with Chinx for his debut album, which will be coming soon, as well as working with Chedda The Connect, OCD Moosh and Twist, Joe Budden, etc.
