| Growing in Christ

A LETTER FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT Communication is always the key to fostering and maintaining healthy and productive relationships and it is equally true between a school and its partnering parents.

Capturing the ins and outs of over 900 students and 100+ employees teaching God’s Truth, preparing students academically, and stewarding close to 40 acres of school grounds on two separate campuses is a challenge, however, it is our desire that this annual Report Card will do just that.

While there is no way to convey everything that has taken place, these pages provide a brief snapshot of a number of significant accomplishments that have occurred at both campuses throughout the 2018/2019 school year.

The information paints a picture of young men and women growing in their understanding of who God is, growing in their academic knowledge, and how they are developing their God-given gifts to make an impact for the Kingdom of God in our world.

| Committed to the Arts & Sciences SCIENCE Science and Engineering Fair Sophomore Jibiana Jakpor received the gold medal for Earth and Space Science at the National NAACP ACT-SO competition in Detroit competing against 11,000 participants in 32 categories—sciences, arts, and humanities.

ART 41st Congressional District Art Contest

Senior Megan Sorokowski’s art piece “City Roots” won first place in the 41st Congressional District Art Contest and will hang in Washington D.C. at the U.S. Capitol.

NOTEWORTHY • Chamber Choir received Gold Ratings at both the World Strides Festival in Boston and the Forum Festival in Anaheim.

• STEM LEAPS Fire and Police Academy finished with many of our students on the winning 2nd and 3rd place teams.

• Four students swept the Riverside Public Utilities Art Contest where their artwork will be made into labels on RPU water bottles.

• Senior Matthew Stoffel won first place in watercolor at The Press Enterprise 57th Annual Art Show.

The largest cast and crew of 72 students performed Fiddler on the Roof in seven shows for an audience of more than 1,600.

As the only high school in the Inland Empire permitted to tour the facility, WCS students spend a whole day exploring Robotic Surgery, the NICU, Emergency Room, Cadaver Lab, and much more!

Forty students participated in the inaugural WCDS choir in 2018/2019. Some of their performances included singing at our Christmas Extravaganza, the Concert in the Park event, and performing the National Anthem for a CBU Basketball game.

Band returned to Woodcrest Christian in 2015 and has seen tremendous growth as students hone their skills on a variety of instruments and experience the joy of performing.

WCDS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BAND Our Woodcrest Christian Day School elementary band returned in 2016 starting with 15 students and has grown to 22 students for the 2019/2020 school year.

95% The installation of solar covered parking structures on the upper campus parking lots will supply 95% of the school’s energy costs while also providing welcomed shade.

Thanks to the Lord’s provision, this $1.5 million dollar solar power project was undertaken without any out-ofpocket school funds.

The upper campus averages 779,000 kWh of energy use every year.

FINANCIAL STEWARDSHIP IN ACTION WOODCREST CHRISTIAN: Has never missed a payroll in over 70 years.

Pays the entirety of its credit card balance each month.

Since 2000, over 975 families have benefited from financial aid awarded by Woodcrest Christian. The Royals Financial Aid Fund is supported 100% through generous donations and does not use current family tuition dollars.

Our Diamond Anniversary is coming up in 2022! Since 1948, our school has built upon the foundation of Christ-centered academics and has enjoyed a rich history. We recently completed a documentary film celebrating the past 70 years of the Woodcrest Christian School System!
