Miami artist Tom Virgin’s work spans a range of media from prints and book arts, to sculpture and public works. Two degrees in printmaking, over a decade of residencies in artist’s communities/National Parks, and a

parallel career teaching art in Title I Public High Schools for over 20 years have nurtured a desire to make his work accessible to a broad range of people, and supportive of the communities that he is part of. By making multiples, Tom is able to spread his own community around, while leaving pieces of Miami in the communities he travels to. For over two decades, Tom has had 17 solo

exhibitions and site-specific works. He also has work in over twenty public collections from the Perez Art Museum in Miami to the Iraq National Library in Baghdad. Tom incorporated Extra Virgin Press, LLC in early 2016, after receiving a Knight Arts Challenge Grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation in November 2015. Extra Virgin Press also received a Wavemaker/ Long Haul Grant from Cannonball Miami in 2016. His award winning books are included in two surveys of book arts. His books and prints are in public collections including PAMM, Walker Art Center, UC-San Diego, Jaffe Center for Book Arts, Wells College, and the Bienes Museum of the Modern Book.
