From the Head of School

Dear Collegiate Community When I arrived at Collegiate, I was struck by the welcoming and generous spirit of our community. The genuine love felt for the school by faculty, parents, students, and alumni was palpable and visible in so many ways. A high bar was set, and yet in 2021-22 this community has surpassed all expectations and set a new standard for Collegiate with an incredibly impactful year. The following pages will highlight so many of the different ways our students, faculty, parents, grandparents, alumni and donors have contributed to the success of our school. Thank you to each and every one of you for your invaluable support, which enables our school to deliver on its promise to develop students who will go on to lead lives of impact in their communities. You will learn of the galvanizing experiences our students benefit from in Beyond the Classroom, and you will read about the emphasis we place on public speaking in our younger grades. We have also highlighted the insight gained by our older students from working with their mentors on Mentor Day. The above are just snapshots of the types of rewarding work being undertaken at Collegiate.

I am energized by the thoughtful and varied approaches taken as we prepare our students to live in a complex world demanding teamwork and creative problem-solving skills.

I am proud to be leading a school where classroom discussions encourage respectful exchanges on relevant topics and where learning takes place both within and beyond the traditional classroom walls. Teachers are also regularly integrating real world scenarios into their curricula to help our students realize the potential they have to be effective collaborators, independent thinkers, and skilled communicators. As I look ahead, I am confident that our students will continue to thrive at their school and go on to make a lasting, positive contribution to our world. One needs only to read the news of our alumni featured in Class Notes to be reminded that preparing our students to make a difference in the future is a tradition we proudly carry forward from our past. Gratefully,
