Engineering for Kids: Amazing Race STEM Camp

111 years ago airplanes had not even made their first flight, yet today we can fly to the other side of the world in 12 hours! It is thanks to advances in technology that we are able to explore so much of the world. Over the next five days teams will have to work together to see who is able to travel the farthest around the world. This trek around the world will require students to design their very own boat, plane, and even a rocket!

Engineering for Kids: Momentum Madness STEM Camp

During the Momentum Madness camp, students will explore four fields of engineering: industrial, electrical, mechanical, and aerospace. They will design and construct vehicles and safety mechanisms that will achieve the fastest speeds while still maintaining safe racing conditions. Zero to sixty in two seconds?! How fast can an object go without compromising safety? Students in this camp will work with their Pit Crew to design and build vehicles, such as dragsters and hovering levitrons, which should be able to withstand astonishing speeds. Fasten your seat belt, the race has begun!

Engineering for Kids: Robo Battles STEM Camp

Robo Battles curriculum is designed to introduce students to the world of not only building, but also programming basic robots. The challenge facing robotics engineers is that the robot knows only what is written into the program and the design of the robot must also be capable of performing the task at hand. In this unit, students will experience both the designing and programming roles of being a robotics engineer. The students will explore different ways in which a robot could be utilized to engage in various battle challenges in a less competitive environment. Lessons include, tug of war, sumo bots, tanks and more.

Engineering for Kids: Robo Games

A robot is a device that is designed and programmed to perform a task either autonomously or with human input. Robots typically come in two forms: those resembling humans or role-specific robots, such as NASA space probes and Mars Rovers. Robots are generally used to perform either dangerous or monotonous tasks. The challenge facing robotics engineers is that the robot knows only what is written into the program. The design of the robot must also be capable of performing the task at hand. In this unit, students will experience both the designing and programming roles of being a robotics engineer. Engineering for Kids: Robotics: Rescue Robots

The LEGO® Robotics: Rescue Robots curriculum is designed to introduce students to the world of not only building but also programming basic robots. Throughout this course, the students will explore different ways in which a robot could be utilized to respond in disaster situations. Through discussion and hands-on activities, students will learn to differentiate technology from natural (not man-made) objects and discuss why these objects are considered to be technology. Also, students will explore areas that humans cannot travel, such as the ocean floor and deep space, assist in the safe disposal of explosives, analyze data provided by sensors, and react to it appropriately. Junior Lifeguard Program

American Red Cross Junior Lifeguarding is designed to guide youth to the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course by building a foundation of knowledge, attitudes and skills for future lifeguards. Participants are not required to master or perfectly execute skills. They should learn techniques and build stamina during this program.

AQUATICS

Junior Lifeguard Camps offer young people the opportunity to gain valuable lifesaving and aquatic skills. Junior Lifeguards (JGs) are between the ages of 11-14. The students are also taught basic water rescue skills such as how to react in an emergency, throw a rope to help a distressed swimmer, and perform rescue tube and boogie board rescues. Throughout the session, drills and activities are regularly rotated to help the JGs practice their skills and continually improve.

Junior Lifeguard Camps are an important part of a child’s life and are a great way to teach kid’s important swimming and water safety skills that they can use for the rest of their lives.

Registration begins April 1.

* Must have completed the 5th Grade.

** Thursday only at Franklin

STAR Program | Seussical Kids

Summer Intensive Camp

Our STAR Program is offering the opportunity to be a part of production of Seussical Kids –all learned in two weeks of camp!

The two week camp (WEEK 1: 9:00am – 3:00pm, Tuesday – Friday at Enrichment Center; WEEK 2: 9:00am-3:00pm, Monday – Friday at Performing Arts Center) is capped off with TWO PERFORMANCES at the Williamson County Performing Arts Center on Saturday, June 8 at 3:00pm and 6:30pm.

Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat, our narrator, tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child, who gets in trouble for thinking too many “thinks.” Horton’s challenge is twofold — not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must also guard an abandoned egg that’s been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!

*NOTE: Supply Fee of $25 due to instructor on the first day of camp.

DISCOUNT AVAILABLE: There is a $25 sibling discount (starting with 2nd sibling) if siblings register in same transaction.

Rising Stars 13 Summer Intensive (Note: Audition-based Camp)

For the summer of 2024, the Rising Stars production will be 13, a hilarious, coming-of-age musical about discovering that “cool” is sometimes where we least expect it. With an unforgettable rock score from Tony Award-winning composer, Jason Robert Brown, (Parade, The Last Five Years, Bridges of Madison County)

13 is a musical about fitting in – and standing out! Evan Goldman is plucked from his fast-paced, preteen New York City life and plopped into a sleepy Indiana town following his parents’ divorce. Surrounded by an array of simpleminded middle school students, he needs to establish his place in the popularity pecking order. Can he situate himself on a comfortable link of the food chain... or will he dangle at the end with the outcasts?!?

13 is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. mtishows.com
