Barre Barre (bahr) Fitness combines ballet, Pilates, and yoga to give you beautiful sculpted, lean muscles, without the impact and injuries a dancer may endure. An intense isometric strength-training, low-impact class, focusing on balance, lengthening and strengthening core, glutes, and all other major muscle groups. NO Dance Experience Required! Anyone can do it! A 60-minute class starts with a warm up, upper-body light-weight series, barre series, and concludes with mat work (core, push ups, planks, stretch). The barre is used for balance. Exercises include several toning sequences and resistance movements emphasizing the core, arms, seat and thighs. YOGA

Learn to harness the power of hatha yoga to strengthen your body, soften your heart, and clear your mind. Each class explores biomechanical principles of alignment of the body in the poses as a meditation in motion. Hands-on adjustments, demonstrations and partner work may be done in class to help reveal a deeper joy through the body. Classes end with Savasana (complete relaxation pose) and a blessing.

Advanced Beginners/All Levels Yoga This all levels class will cater to the individuals that come to class on that day. There will be variations on postures and students will encouraged to deepen their practice with teacher led demonstrations, expanded alignment instructions, hand-on adjustments of postures, pranayama (breathing), and the beginnings of meditation. Newer students will be taught how to modify postures. Recommended after taking at least three Beginners/Introductory classes. Registration closes at 3:00pm the day before class. Each class requires 5 students to be preregistered in order to hold class. Students are encouraged to register for the month but also have the option to register for which classes they can attend for the entire month.

Tai Chi Tai Chi is a gentle exercise that is fun and suitable for all ages and capabilities. Unlike most conventional exercise, the muscles and joints are relaxed instead of strained. Rather than jarring the body and straining muscles, Tai Chi promotes blood flow with gentle, gliding motions, reducing joint pain, increasing flexibility, range of motion, strength, and aerobic conditioning. Tai Chi is also improves sleep, mood, cheerfulness and relaxation. Fee is for a two-week session.

Fairview Seniors Group The Senior Citizens meet each Tuesday and Thursday in the senior’s room at the Fairview Recreation Complex. At 10:30am everyone plays BINGO. Members who enjoy playing Rook come early on meeting days and play until time for Bingo. The seniors also have a pool table and the gentlemen play pool, both before and after the meeting. A Covered Dish Lunch is held on the first Tuesday of each month; and, lunch is catered in or the group plans a lunch out on the third Thursday of each month. Join this lively group for exercise, games, luncheons, camaraderie and more!

July: Bluebird Café & Loveless Cafe Join us for the FREE monthly Senior’s Show at the Bluebird Café on July 10th. The Bluebird Cafe is a small, 90 seat venue located in downtown Nashville. It is one of the world’s preeminent listening rooms and the venue has gained worldwide recognition as a songwriter’s performance space where the “heroes behind the hits” perform their own songs.

After the show at the Bluebird Café, we will head over to another Nashville treasure, the Loveless Café. At Loveless Café, we will get to enjoy their historic fried chicken and biscuits (Dutch treat). The cost of the trip ($16) covers transportation.

August: Tropicana Casino Due to popular demand, we are going gambling! Tropicana Evansville is a $212 million entertainment complex, located on the scenic banks of the Ohio River, in southwestern Indiana. SMART DRIVING WITH AARP WCPR is pleased to announce that we are hosting an AARP Smart Driving class for adults 55 and up. This two day course helps drivers improve their skills that could help avoid traffic violations or other accidents. Coffee and drinks will be provided, but you may want to bring a snack. Rec Night at Nolensville Our newest Therapeutic program at Nolensville is a Rec Night designed for the adolescent age group and older, with special needs. One Thursday a month, we will do a variety of activities, including: sensory groups, crafts, exercise and socializing. Our certified Rec Therapist will supervise and coordinate all of the fun activities for the duration of the evening. A snack and drink will be provided but feel free to send food if your child has any dietary restrictions or allergies.

Ages 10 and older. Enrollment is limited and online registration is required. The cost of this program is $10.00 per child.

Recreation Night In June we will be having a Summer Eating Progressive Dinner. You will all get to help create a dinner and dessert that you will get to enjoy. Making these recipes together are half the fun.

In July join us for Dinner and a Movie. We will be showing Sing. Participants will have Dinner of Pizza, chips, popcorn, salad, dessert and drinks.

This August come cool off at our Splash and swim party. Participants will have a great time swimming in the outdoor pool, enjoying the brand new Splash Pad and socializing with friends. A dinner of Sandwiches, chips drinks, and dessert will be served.

Fitness Fun Come join us and get fit and have fun at the same time. We begin with stretching by using exercises and resistance bands then transition into strengthening with light hand weights and stability balls. We complete our workout with a 30 minute walk. Please be aware that we walk outside on the walking trail when weather permits and upstairs on the indoor walking track during colder or rainy weather. Please note: Participants must be independent and can follow directions within a small group.

Friday Fun Day Want to get out of the house for a bit? This new program, for adults with disabilities, is here for you! Friday Fun Day is an opportunity to get out in the community for a fun-filled Friday! Whether we are meeting for a matinee movie, picnic at the park or a shopping day at the mall, we will be having a blast and would love for you to join us.
