Before we were on TV, social media, or the menus at some cool joints, we were drunk on a boat. We pondered the big questions in life, like MFK, who makes the best fried chicken, and how can we get paid to just party? We’re two buddies who have thrown some pretty great parties and love hanging out with our friends. After a while, we threatened to start a cooking show and eventually fired it up.

Sophistafunk

Sophistafunk gives the people what they want—a high-powered fusion of funky jams, hip hop, and flavor that is riling crowds up during nationwide tours and on national television, as the house band for “Guy Fieri’s Ultimate Game Night.” Their Central New York roots meld with heavy influences from Atlanta, California, New York, Motown, and more.

The band is rooted in undeniable musicianship and authenticity, blending intoxicating beats with mind-expanding flows. Mad scientist Adam Gold is known for his heavy synth basslines and funky vocals. He plays four vintage keyboards at the same time, sometimes even while beatboxing! Gospel-trained drummer and singer Emanuel Washington combines neo-soul with deep house, reggae, and more.

Frontman/emcee Jack Brown evokes comparisons to artists ranging from Mac Miller to Michael Frantí, but his lyrical skill and conscious vibes are truly one of a kind.

WCNY

WCNY was founded in 1965 as The Educational Television Council of Central New York. Today, it is a public communications organization that produces content across multiple platforms, including television and radio programs, dynamic web and targeted email content, the WCNY CONNECT Magazine, and social media.

Through its media platforms, in-person and virtual events, WCNY brings local coverage and educational services to Central New Yorkers. WCNY operates four digital, pledge-free broadcast channels and three radio stations. Classic FM is one of a few radio stations in the world dedicated to locally programmed classical music.

WCNY inspires the curious of all ages through educational programs and transformative experiences that open minds and spark change.
