For Our Members ... Hello, I don’t remember when it happened exactly, but I find I’m listening more and more to All Things Considered at home by asking my smart speaker to “play WCMU.” The same can be said for catching an episode of Finding Your Roots [a new season drops in January] through WCMU Passport. To our tried-and-true traditionalists, thank you for tuning in through WCMU Public Television and Radio. Let this also stand as a reminder for those of you receiving new technology through the holidays that WCMU is bound to be there, waiting to be discovered in new and exciting ways. We know full well how listener support has made these advances possible through the years. Thank you for supporting WCMU! Your gift has kept us informed through another volatile year. Humanitarian crises around the globe have weighed heavy on our hearts. The Presidential election is building momentum for another consequential trip to the polls next year. Every day programs like PBS Newshour and Morning Edition bring insight to the events that have the world talking. Locally, our reporters are digging into your environmental and economic concerns. Your support informs the conversations happening across central and northern Michigan. Your gift also provides the moments of relief from the news cycle you have come to expect. From your favorite Masterpiece dramas to the hilarity of Wait Wait…Don’t
Tell Me, and music playing all day on WCMU Classical to beautiful stories found on Destination Michigan like the traditional manoomin (also known as wild rice) harvest shared by members of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. It’s listener support making the difference and providing this service to your community. In this season of generosity, I would encourage you to renew your support, make an additional gift, or commit to ongoing monthly support as a sustaining member like me. We realize there are many important causes vying for your attention. We are honored to have you consider WCMU for your yearend giving. You’ll find a special lineup of programming this month as you celebrate with friends and family. Be sure to find all the details for TV on page 2 and turn to page 23 and 28 for radio. Wishing you and yours a safe and happy holiday season,
Rick Westover
