Callstoourhotlinesincreasedandwe sawwaitlistsforourcounselingandcase managementservicesincreaseaswell.
WhileIknowthatsomeoftheincreasesareduetogrowthinour community,Ialsobelievethattheincreasedcallforservices meansthatindividualsheardourmessageandtrustthatwe areheretohelpthem.
WhatIhaveheardsomanytimesfromsurvivorsisthattheyare ashamed,blamethemselvesandarenotsuretheywillbe believediftheydoreachout.Ourhopewiththismessagewas toopenthedoorforthosebraveenoughtomakethatfirstcall –tohelpthemreachout–andIbelieveitdiddojustthat.
Ittakesalotofcouragetodecidetomakethekindofchange thatourclientsdecidetomake.Weneedtobereadywhenthey arefinallyreadytoreachouttous.Thecompassionthatour teamshowseachclientandthecompassionourcommunity demonstratesbysupportingourworkiswhatmakeseachday sohumblingtome.Helpingourclientswiththedirectservices weofferandconnectingthemwithothercommunityresources sotheycanmovefromsurvivingtothriving,thatiswhatdrives eachofushereattheWCA.
